I've looked but I can't find one. I prefer the stock launcher over alternatives like ADW and LauncherPro beta, but would like rotation. I know there were modifications for Eclair, but I can't find any for Froyo's launcher2.
It already does, doesn't it? 270 degrees?
Does yours? Mine sure doesn't!

That's system-wide, not for the launcher. The stock launcher does not rotate natively.

Actually it does rotate natively - IF - your place the N1 in the Nexus car dock. Rotation is indeed there with bog standard FRF91 when docked. I have been running it 4 days now and never noticed this until just now when I got around to using it in the car. What a nice surprise, to see the stock launcher and home screens rotate along with pretty much everything else I tried. Contacts, Phone, widgets, you name it. Nice job Google.

You don't. It would seem global rotation is deemed to be something you would use docked. I can see the sense in this, even though some people will find it annoying.
Limited rotation you can do outside of the dock for things that would make sense for rotation when handheld, like photos, calendar and a few other things.
I guess the fact that it can do it stock standard means someone will come up with an app or utility to tell it is docked when not so you can rotate globally.

ro.hdmi.mirror.enable=false
ro.hdmi.default.app=

changing the first line to true WORKS only at boot, it correctly mirrors what you see on your phone. but once the phone is done booting, it kicks the TV to a black screen and the phone asks you if you want to open up the entertainment app or do nothing.
So mirroring is there, its just blocked by something on boot.

Sorry, I just ordered my phone, so I don't have one to tinker with yet. But maybe you can use titanium backup to freeze the app. If it doesn't show up as an app, maybe you can use autostarts to try and stop it. Finally, the last idea I have is to poke around in the init scripts to find the offending app. All of this is just speculation, but since you can see mirroring at bootup I think it is pretty clear that the webtop app is causing the issue.
I can confirm this. It boots to the homescreens. I got to unlock and touch a widget. Then it disappeared, the box came up asking if I wanted to connect to the entertainment center.
I back through my apps with titanium backup and froze anything regarding hdmi. The entertainment box went away, but it still takes away hdmi mirroring.
I didn't have any results with autostarts either, but I don't really know what to look for.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Tried to freeze up some services with Titanium backup - no luck so far.
There is something happening during the boot process which disables the mirroring.
Tried this also. Same results.
I went into Titanium Backup and deleted the Entertainment Center application as well as a couple of other ones I thought might be the reason. But, it still switched off to a black screen after a few seconds.
Any updates on this?
I still don't have a phone yet, but I had another realization.
When you plug in the HDMI cord, the phone pops up with options regarding what to display. i.e. the webtop or the entertainment center. Ergo, something lower in the OS than the webtop is blocking the HDMI port.
However, my thought is, rather than block this, we need to figure out how to make another entry in this list. So the options read, webtop, entertainment, and mirroring.
Unfortunately this may require waiting for Moto to release the code. It will also require someone with coding skill. I for one have never worked with Android and have very poor experience with even Java.
This subject is being killed all over the forums in different threads. The hdmi is being toggled for different apps like webtop or media. The config is the other part that supports the hdmi app service options. We have dumped the apk into smalli and have confirmed this.
There is devs working on webtop without dock and it maybe beneficial to combine these efforts to support display mirroring... just a thought

There is no need for dedicated mirroring now that you can launch the webtop without the dock.
You can run mobile view full screen once you launch webtop.... and alas, you have HDMI mirroring.

Well thats not fully correct, if you launch a app that has on screen buttons like games or emulators..you cant use or play them using the phone as these dont show up on phone.
so we could still do with mirroring for atrix

As of now the best solution is to do what leadguy68 suggested. I don't think any dev is working on it. It is just not worth it since what you want to accomplish can be done with just one additional mouse click after enabling webtop.
If I am wrong and any devs are still working on this, please ignore this thread, otherwise it is prudent to close this thread. Or maybe OP can state this in the first post so that people stop asking about HDMI mirroring.

I think it's dumb to end a thread because YOU aren't interested in something. I think it'd be a damn good idea to get mirroring running. The webtop mirror is laggy, and I want to play a real game of angry birds on a 100" screen, lol. Keep the work up, if anyone is working on it. I'll keep trying on my end to get it working.

exactly. mirroring is still highly sought after. Like another said earlier, for people who want to run emulators, you're sol with the webtop, theres no onscreen buttons AND you cant use your wii-mote while in webtop mode.
Agreed. Still very much needed for games. Web top game emulation is laggy.

Wanna turn your Screen off while watching videos over HDMI?
Or need a watchful Xoom but don´t want the screen to be on all the time?
Here´s the app you need!
Description:
The App adds the posibility to turn off the lcd backlight to your xoom. Its nothing less then a shutdown-button for your display backlight.
The app toggles your lcd backlight to zero and back, said doesn´t just overlay your screen with black, like the other apps inside the market.
it turns off your screen light completly , but the screen stays responsible and the devices stays awake.
Use it instead of locking your xoom, if you need your device itself to be active but dont need the display to be on, e.g. while you´re watching videos over hdmi, use your xoom as a vnc server or something like that.

Use this awesome little App with some "starter app" of your choice.
For example, use the Shaking Shortcurt App, register ToggleScreenXoom.apk and you could turn your screen on/off with just shaking your device.
(tested on xoom [email protected] but should work on every rooted xoom)
Thanks to [email protected] for his work on this.

"Basically" the same as the old method, right. Just in one app without the need of configuration and with more flexibility to be launched by other apps.
Maybe you´ll try "Shaking Shortcurt". A nice app that lets you launch two other apps by shaking your xoom.
Yeah, think I'll try that instead of SwipePad. Since Swipepad rely's on the borders of the screen and Cornerstone alters the borders, I'm guessing that's the issue. Maybe the Shaking app won't have that issue.
Thanks again for the clarification, and the thread. I really can't believe this thread hasn't blown up!

First post is edited to get it straight.
Does this only work on the xoom? I have an acer 510 and I want something like this. It sounds like this gets launched in conjunction with whatever app you launch. I'd rather that while on hdmi the tablet display is off entirely. Or maybe this does that as well.
So is this specific to the xoom?

According to the readme provided in the zip file this application seems to be specific for the Xoom, or at least a few tegra 2 tablets.
That's disappointing. Why would manufacturer's assume that a user wants the display to stay on while using hdmi?! How about a sane default like leave hdmi output on and turn off tablet display after the normal inactivity duration. But allow a keyboard/mouse not to be recognized as tablet activity.
Could this be modified to work with more devices? Or say newer tegra 3 devices if it's chipset specific. But really, ics should have some application layer to control things like hdmi res, screen active etc...
Nice! Works in AOKP
First of all, this is a great app, and it works well in AOKP (build 37).
To trigger the app, I set my "home" softkey on my xoom (in Rom Control) to trigger the app when the key is held. Even though you can't see the softkeys when on hdmi, after a while, its exact location is easy to recall.
It is really convenient. Thanks for the much needed addition to a great device.

Seems to need a load of permissions considering it's application (a clock) - I'm always wary of an app that wants loads of permissions and especially control of things like system settings without proper explanation, etc.

Yeah, I hear ya. It has a ton of different settings, I think including stuff like changing the lock screen and display/screen timeout, which I assume that is for. I wish there were more fine-grained permissions sometimes, or a way to disable certain ones and still have the app work, just not the particular feature that the permission relies on. I believe in CM that's possible at least to some extent.
I'm very surprised to find that there is no way to get to the camera from the lockscreen of my M7. I'm using the Google Now launcher, and everything is going great except for that.

Please tell me there's a way to get to the camera straight from the lockscreen!

On my phone, I can get to the camera without even entering my pattern code, but then again it's using the HTC Sense launcher. Also, you have to make sure that a setting called Bypass lock screen (or something, not sure, don't have my phone on hand) is unticked.
