hey all,
i added myn warm donut custom rom on my htc touch for Bell Mobility and now I cannot use the phone, i tried to program it with the master lock code with the new number but it say some sort of "mm connection error"
Does anyone know how i can program the phone to the new number I have the esn activated to? I been looking online for hours and only found something to do with a "PRL" im not sure what that is either..........

huge problem everything works but no signal

i bought a used g1 no physical problems took it into a shop and they couldnt find anything wrong with it internally so im guessing its a software issue....dont know if this guy i bought it from tried to mess with root and messed something up but im thinking its some sort of software stuff....can anyone PLEASE help!?!?!?!?! i either get this phone fixed or keep using my nokia that seems like its from 1998 and its killing me!!!!!!
What are the stats of the phone? You can check the versions in the settings\about phone area. Model #, Firmware version, Baseband version, kernel version and build number information would be helpful.
Is it already rooted? If not, you may want to go ahead and start reading up on the root process. Some of the newer builds may or may not help the issue. But if it isn't rooted and you arent getting a signal, it very well may be a network issue. Also, does your phone service have a data plan? Has the phone gone through and passed all of the sign-in procedure? (being from another country, I am not sure what all you have to do to activate your phone) Sim card good?
thats the problem i did a factory reset to input my gmail info and now i cant get past the damn activation screen! ive been through all the customer support through tmo and cant figure anything out!!! im goin crazy
also ive found this webpage http://developer.htc.com/adp.html that has recovery, system and radio images from htc and every time i try one of them it comes up and says no signature or no verification.......not sure what to do
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
you cant apply those because your phone is not rooted. learn what your doing without randomly flashing everything that can killed your phone. and yes, you can kill your phone permanently flashing the wrong **** (i.e radio/spl)

stupid activation question

hi all,
so I put andriod on a new HTC touch last night. I hadn't activated the phone yet on Sprint, as I didn't know if I would be able to finish setting it up by this morning. Anyways, I didn't even think about activating it before I put android on, but when I tried to activate it this mornign, Sprint coudn't do it.
Do I need to put a winmo ROM on, activate, then put android back on, or is there a way to activate as is?
Thanks,
David
I did the same thing, and yes, in needs windows on it to be acivated, but once it is activated and the phone number is associated with the serial number, you can put android back on it without windows and it will work perfectly
That's what I figured..
Thanks!

Activating Android flashed phone - still have to go back to Windows, right?

I checked the FAQ and did not see anything...
I am getting bored with my Moment, last week I flashed 2.2 on the Vogue just to see what it is like. Glad to see you guys are still developing on it! We don't even have 2.2 yet, just the FroYo JIT.
If I remember correctly you have to flash Windows Mobile back on the Vogue before you can activate it, right?
yes that is correct. And how are you getting board with your moment.Just wondering cuz thats a phone i really want

I don't know how sprint does it, but this has been my experience on verizon:
I have a touch and a touch pro. I switch back and forth maybe twice a week via the website and never bother dialing activation. my guess is: the first time your activate a phone on your number, you have to call activation to get the akey sorted out. after that, the akey should never change, so you can switch back and forth between those two devices without having to call activation just by switching your esn with the carrier.
again, i'm on verizon, and this could definitely be carrier specific, but it's painless to test for yourself.
Sprint is different after being activated the phone dials #777 then that starts the provisioning I know dzo had some script that could be used for activation but I don't know what became of it

I am a ROM flashing junkie!
SDX has been keeping me busy with ROMs for the Moment, but I remember the initial excitement with putting Android on a phone that was never meant to go further than Windows Mobile 6.1. Good times.

a script to activate would be awesome.
so is this possible: set up the sprint touch with android the way i want it (phone, internet and everything working), then change the phone out and put my wife's account on that touch android phone. or would i have to go back to winmo before putting wife's phone number/account on it?

at this moment it would be to flash back to windows mobile activate it and switch back
i was able to activate my phone from myns warm donut using *228 option 1 on verizon after a whole mess of flashing to get my gps to work. i activated my old phone during the whole process so i wouldnt miss any calls. i ended up with nfs fan 6.5 and i couldnt activate my phone, so i tried it on warm donut from my sd card for the heck of it and it worked. not sure if its rom specific or what not but that worked for me...hope that helps

NAND Boot with ESN Swap

I've been having a problem where I would swap ESN's on Sprint for another phone and then go back to the Android Vogue and notice data would not be working. In WM there is an Update Profile icon that can reinitiate this. Is there something similar for Android? If not, how do you guys suggest getting data working for someone who swaps phones back and forth often?
Run Android from SD. AFAIK, we don't even have access to the operator settings like in WM.
That's what I thought. I still prefer to run it straight from NAND though I take you guys just flash to WM and then back to Android in order to get data working?
I run from SD, but that is correct. Though I don't think most people swap phones like that. Do becareful with doing too many flashes though as some people attribute it to killing their phones.
Ok so you repaired the Vogue's esn? The problem is that your data setting and passwords are different on your Vogue. I don't know if your android rom has epst. Go to the phone and dial ##778#, if it works you can see your settings. Just try to match them as close as possible to your currently working phone. To edit these values you will need your SPC (msl codes). Typically for phone you need to enter your MDN #(your phone #) and your MSID #. For data you need to match up your MIP settings, MIP Default profile and MIP Custumer Profile 1. Just step through all the settings and match them up with the original phone. Since both are Sprint phones their should not be that many differences.
In the past I have just done a reinstall of an Offical WinMo image from Sprint then get data and phone working. For data go into Settings, phone, internet settings, and run that (I can't remember what the function is called). That should provision your data. Once you are up and running then you should be able to flash back to Android and be fine. In provisioning this way, there may be an issue where it changes your passwords and your original phone may not have data. I have had it happen where both phones would work and sometimes the data on the original does not work. You can dial ##778# in both and compare to make sure they are the same.
If you go into the WinMo section and search you can find information about getting data to work. If you don't find it there try going into the Mogul WinMo section and search. Getting data to work on a WinMo was very common issue when flashing different Roms and is virtually the same process for all WinMo phones. On the WinMo side it's been pretty thoroughly covered on XDA and PPCGEEKS.
You could try a search at mobile-files.us and mobile-files.com. They tend to cover a lot of what you are doing here.
EPST is a executable file that comes with the WinMo roms and is usually in the Windows folder.
I wonder if someone could actually re-code a new version that would work on Droid/Linux?
How do the new Droid phones that come from Sprint get programmed?
I haven't tried this yet, but I wonder if you're just switching back and forth if you really need the provisioning. I've switched back with the flash back to WinMo method, but noticed that the MSID and other data is already still in there. It does go through a data provisioning process of some sort, so maybe it is necessary. But still, if it's already been activated on the phone number previously, it seems like there's some slim chance it might not be necessary to flash back to WM to do a simple ESN swap back.
Has anyone tried it? I'll probably try out my TP2 on Android for a few days again soon now that sound is working, but then get frustrated by the parts that still don't work well and flash back to the Vogue again. So maybe I'll try it then if nobody else has.
You need to switch back to windows mobile in order to activate, even if the phone has the mdn and msid programed in it still has a provisioning code it sends out so you can activate it but you just won't have data

Need help with getting Kaiser / android going on Fido (canada)

Hello everyone
I'm a semi-noob. Got a Kaiser that already had hardSPL(3.56) and android installed on it. Could not register it on fido network
So I started digging around, tried different radios and different roms.
I loaded the latest kernel on there and now managed to get wifi going. but regardless of what rom / radio / kernel combos I try I cant get the phone to pick up service.
When I go in to manually select my provider, it shows me 2 rogers wireless options, a blank one and thats it. It won't register on either one of those options.
I'm trying winmo right now, but hoping to find out which rom / radio / kernel combo works for fido
any help is appreciated.
I managed to flash it with winmo 6.5 and unlock it.. it's working pretty good right now .. but i'm still hoping to find an android setup I can switch to
another thing I can comment on is .. when i was in android, it wouldnt read my sim contacts. one rom would say "no sim contacts" another rom would infinitely try to read them.
Another note: when trying to search for providers, if i chose to "automatically select provider" it would say it registered, but it wouldnt actually register...
