Can i get the HTC Desire browser on my Nexus One - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
i have a Nexus One with unlocked Bootloader. Recently i found the HTC_IME Keyboard, and it's working great on FroYo.
Is there a way to get the HTC Desire Browser on the Nexus One without Root?
Stock Browser ist ok, but the HTC Browser has some nice additional features like switching between desktop and mobile view.
Bye,
Shahpur

Wrong section. You can switch to full view on a stock browser.

yeah, but only via debug mode. Somehow i also think that everything was more fluid on my HTC Desire browser. So any chance to just install an apk?

Droid X Multi-Touch Keyboard

Hey everyone,
I just downloaded and installed the new multi-touch keyboard from the Droid X on my Captivate via ADB and it works perfectly so far.
Link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709519
I used the 2.1 Eclair version, obviously.
wow I like it better than the HTC one i was using, thanks!
Thank you for posting this. I am going to move it over to the apps section but leave a redirect for a week.
Worked great for me, been using a mix of HTC and Swype but this I was able to type more correctly and faster than with either of them.

I thought the same thing. I was using Swype, but this one is much faster and has the auto-correct.

Sorry, I wasn't sure where to put it. Thinking about it again, it makes sense for it to be in the apps section.

I'm using it now and I love it. Pretty basic, simple keyboard. Is there any other advantage to it other than being able to hold the caps key down though?

I'll check it out but I love swype so far.

Does it have arrow keys? To me that's pretty much a must-have without a trackball or dpad on our device. Thanks!

There are ways to get the arrows with the included keyboards. See the end of this article for more info: http://www.talkandroid.com/7386-galaxy-s-tips-and-tricks-works-captivate-vibrant-etc/
I am looking for HTC keyboard for captivate, can any one please provide the link to download it.
Works perfect thanks

hmm, wouldn't install for some reason.
Would not install
This would not install for me either. When I try it just says Parse Error, there is a problem parsing the package. I'm kinda new to android so I have no idea what this could mean. Anyone else having this problem?
just wish it had the same arrows as the keyboard that comes on the EVO
can anyone explain to me again what the benefit of this is over swype? or stock android keyboard?
Wow, great find!!! This keyboard is better than better keyboard!
Systoxity: You can type crazy fast on it. I couldn't get used to the Swype keyboard, and the android keyboard had me hitting the wrong keys all the time. This one is crazy accurate for me!

Yea, it said that for me too when I first downloaded it directly to the phone. So, I downloaded it to my computer, then moved it over to the sdcard via usb cable then ran it from file manager and it installed fine that way.

Sense browser

I used to use a sense rom and I remember in the browser you could long press on text and you could drag to select and from there use translate and other features... Now using launcher pro on shadowrom 2.1 and would love that feature... Any ideas?

Yeah know how to select text lol... Neeext!

No ideas, because there aren't any. Sense browser requires Sense framework, which requires Sense ROM.

No ideas because their aren't any...lol I didn't ask if the sense browser could be ported I asked if their was a way to get that feature... Ie different browser, hack for stock browser, etc. pretty much anything that doesn't involve the impossible. Next

I've asked this before because I want it too. Apparently this IS impossible, and there is no way to port it without having sense entirely. I wish there was.
So your saying its impossible to have that feature because sense has already done that? Theirs no dev that could make that feature possible without sense? Well then sense is starting to have features over stock android.. how disappointing

And I know the deal with sense not being pick and choose.. But I guess what I meant is their anyone who could write an add on to the browser or even an add on to dolphin or something.. Seems like a pretty decent feature to have

The thing is, the text selection method isn't just in the browser, it's across the entire phone in the sense ports. So it's an integral part of the OS.
I don't even mind the select text in stock android.. I just wish their were other plugins for android browser so we could have translate integrated into the browser. I guess just a wish for gingerbread or the next release. Copy and paste and leaving the browser into translate isn't the worst but it is annoying

How to get the HRC keyboard

I want to get the HTC keyboard on my NS as I am used to it on my Desire HD, I have tried the same file and method as you do with the Nexus One but I always get a force close error when I try to select the new input method.
Am I doing something wrong or do i need a different file to install
http://postkreative.eu/HTC_IME_hi22.apk
i prefer stock keyboard over HTC_IME.. it doesnt have multi touch :\
either that or. http://www.appbrain.com/app/smart-keyboard-pro/net.cdeguet.smartkeyboardpro
Free: http://www.appbrain.com/app/smart-keyboard-trial/net.cdeguet.smartkeyboardtrial
Smart keyboard has a HTC_IME skin that looks like HTC but includes multitouch capabilities. Try it out.
That worked great thanxks

I am using the HTC keyboard on my Nexus S and it works great but every now and again the text text that appears above the keys that shows you what you are typing does not come up so I have to kill the keyboard.
Anyone know a fix for this?

Possibly go find a version for it thats compatible for 2.3.X.
The link I sent you before is 2.2.X but it does work. Most people have moved onto better keyboards because HTC IME is missing the multitouch keyboard feature.
@Borky: Your post doesn't help. The OP already has the keyboard and your keyboard thread hasn't been updated since October. So I doubt its the newer version.
HTC Sense is also not running 2.3.X (yet!) so unless you can port the keyboard from the sense 2.3 leak.... no luck

I'll be nice, but you should really learn to look/search better. Netflix does work on HD2.

+1
That's the thread with everyone posting which ROMs it is working on. It is not a device issue... it's a ROM issue if it's not working for you. We don't think you are an idiot Killa, it's just that it takes us longer to search for you and post the link than it does for you to just search yourself.
*edit*
Works for me on MIUI and before on Hyperdroid CM7.
It does not appear to work on any Sense builds
I have switched the Verizon but I still have my hd2 android running MCCM SE V3.4 (FroyoStone Sense). Netflix is streaming flawlessly.

What ROM are you running? Any info you can give us to maybe help?
Netflix is amazing on my HD2. Streams high quality and buffering is almost not noticeable when I go forward or back. We have to help you get it running.
What I don't understand is why it doesn't work on Desire HD roms, it works for the Evo stock but just wiull not play for DHD. You select a movie and then it will go to the player screen and freeze for a second. Then it goes back to the que screen.
Hopefully that will be fixed because it was working fine with Typhoon CM7
Works on Mytouch 4g
Works great on my rooted Mytouch 4g stock rom. Thanks!

Google bookmarks

I can't for the life of me figure out how to access my Google bookmarks on the stock browser. Does anyone know how to import them? All I can see are the default bookmarks.
In the meantime, use Chrome.
I'm not a big fan of Chrome. It really isn't a big deal, just wondering if I was missing something.

As far as I know the stock browser does not have this functionality. Not sure why you would expect it to, especially since Chrome is included in the ROM.
I came from the gs3 and the stock browser on that was able to do that, I assumed they all did. It has been a while since I had an HTC phone.
Well capt, depending on what gapps package you used in AOSP, I'd be able to access my bookmarks through stock browser.

I'm still using Sense 5,but I wouldn't imagine that this would change.
Hit the menu, and go to Bookmarks. Do you have a drop down for the bookmarks that lists All Bookmarks, Local, <youremail>@gmail.com?
I have all of my bookmarks from my stock browser from my first tablet.
The only thing in the drop-down is 'local'

That's strange....can someone else confirm that Local is the only thing available on the drop down? That sucks, because I actually prefer the stock HTC browser over Chrome. My phone tends to like it better. Maybe it's just me.

Thanks. For a minute I thought Sense was AOSP, and dogs breeding with cats were normal.
I knew when I hit "Submit", those would be your exact words! LOL!

EDIT: The files from the above zip did not have any effect for me.
It just occurred to me that Google dropped the stock AOSP browser completely in favor of Chrome. The stock Internet browser from HTC is only a skinned version of the AOSP browser, so it comes as no surprise that sync and other features wouldn't be working.
Understood. Sometimes it seems like we lose more features and conveniences as we keep upgrading to newer versions. I'm sure Google has their reasons for certain things, but I sometimes wonder what their thinking is.
