volume of the external speaker very low - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
I have a big problem with my HTC Touch Diamond. The volume of the external speaker, the one in witch you can here the ring tone or if you play a audio file in media player, is extremely low , you can barely hear it if you put the phone near your ear.
This symptom appear after I've install the MEMO 2.5.2.1-FULL ROM.
yesterday I was reading on this site an I found a thread about sound volume problem and there were a suggestion to try to replace AudioPara3.csv, I've did that and for a couple of minutes everything was back to normal but after I've perform a soft restart the sound was very low again. I've try to overwrite again the file but with no result.
I've reinstall the official ROM from the HTC support site but the situation persist.
No I'm out of ideas and I hope that you can give me a hint.
Thanks,
Sorin

hey sorin
there are two things here:
1. this is not rom dev related
2. the problems started apparently with the MEMO rom installation
so you should have
a. checked MEMO rom thread for similar issues/available solutions in the first place
b. asked there otherwise instead of opening a new thread
as the problem persists even after going back to stock I will just move the thread to general, next time you have rom specific issues pls post in the respective rom thread
thx and gl
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general

No sound,just vibrate only

Hi,
My TYTN suddenly don't have any sound.just vibrate only when incoming call and sms received. before this, everything work fine. it just happen after i change from silent mode to normal mode.
Is it related to my ROM? for ur info, my
ROM Version is 3.29.707.0 WWE
ROM Date: 05/07/08
Radio Version: 1.65.16.25
Protocol Version: 25.83.40.02H
I do searching regarding to my problem. Some people say that it is the radio version problem. I don't know which radio version is suitable for me. can anyone suggest to me?
I try to play MP3 in my TYTN but still no sound. I've also restart my phone.but it still same issues. Any recommendation to solve this problem?
Thanks
hmmm, lets take a step back and first think about any possible changes you may have made just before the problem occurred. you say you only changed the sound profile from silent to normal mode. are you certain this was the ONLY major change you made? for example, did you just flash the ROM you are using or you have been using it for quite some time?
if changing the sound profile was really the only thing you did before the problem occurred, then your radio version SEEMS fine and you probably shouldn't change it.
have you checked the sound volume (system as well as ringer)? try bringing the volume down to zero and then bring it back up.
maybe you should change the profile back to silent mode or vibrate mode and then do a soft reset and then change it back to normal mode and then do a soft reset.
as a last resort, have you tried a hard reset?
Edit:
Thanks ASCIIker
I have made a new thread.

Im having this same problem.
It started happening for no apparent reason.
I changed to this Ultimate-X2.V11 -23017 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507281 to fix the problem
and on start up it worked fine and was able to make a phone call play songs etc. but after that it dies again.
If I reset it the sound comes back but I am only able to make one phone call. and then I have to reset again. Silent or vibrate settings don't seem to affect it.
Note that before updating to ultimatex2 with my old RaphaelIII Rom. Restarting the phone or dong a hard reset did not help.
any thoughts?
Edit:
I Just discovered that If I leave the phone playing a tune by itself on a table, the sound will randomly come back on and go away. so there is nothing I'm doing that is causing it to go away.

thread "hijacking" is not a good idea...
still, it seems that you are also experiencing the same issue. IF AND ONLY IF you also did NOTHING major when the issue started (like flashing a ROM). you say you flashed a ROM AFTER the issue started to try to correct the problem so that makes your case a bit different than the person who started this thread (who really did not do anything major it seems).
in your case, did you follow ALL the instructions on the first page and FAQ of the ultimate x2 thread? i'm asking because that ROM requires flashing stock ROM before flashing ultimate x2, and you haven't even mentioned which radio and spl you are using, so you haven't provided enough information. all the same, the above quoted post of yours seems to belongs in the ultimate x2 thread in my opinion, hence why i suggested that thread "hijacking" is not a good practice.

[HELP] Keep resetting ringtone to none

Hi there, my Diamond keeps resetting the ringtone to none, its really irretating.
I have this rom installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522354
(DeepShining ROM)
Well i have tried playing around with it,
Example:
Set the ringtone and restarted the phone, then its still there.
And playing games, using gps and so on.
But now and then, every 10 hour or so, it simply resets the ringtone to none, have no idea why..
Its this a error in the rom or?
Mmmm...
You're probably better off posting this in the thread where you got the ROM - you never know, someone else may be having the same issues. Of course, read through the posts in the thread first as there may already be a solution.

Audio fix needed

Hi, I have installed damage control 2.08.1 and still have a issues with audio.
Every time when I got two calls at the same time I am loosing audio and have to reboot my phone in order to get it back.
Anyone can help me with it, please!!!???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=657244
As a quick note, beyond reading that thread, if you set dcupdater to show experimental roms you'll see the linked audiofix already built into damage (and working with it properly) as an update. Try that, it may help.
I thought that it is in the other fix that I got istalled avalaunch_audio_rcfix_fordc.zip BUT I still have that issue.
Thread moved to Q&A.

[Q] Xperia Z default earpiece speaker volume

Hi Guy's, I seem to be experiencing the opposite problem to what everyone else on this forum is experiencing.
Whenever I make or receive a call, the ear volume is always set to the highest which is too loud especially when in quiet environments as everyone around me can hear what the other person on the end of the line is saying, plus it almost deafens me.
Even when I turn the volume down during a call, it always defaults back to maximum volume during the next call.
I looked under the "volumes" section in the settings but can't seem to see an option for this.
Can anyone help me on this please.
Thanks

Something sure seems to be messed up, try backuping your data and then do a factory reset and check if the issue is associated with the rom itself, if thats the case you should install some other rom or try any mod that modifies your musicfx, like purexaudio.

Thanks I forgot to mention that I am running the stock firmware that came with the phone. It was on android 4.1 when I purchased it and I have since updated it to 4.2.2 but the problem persists.
I would like to know if this happens with other Xperia Zs. Does the ear volume stay on the last level you set it to or does it reset every time a new call is made?
Once I know what it's supposed to do, I will try a factory reset before getting involved with custom roms.

No, Its supposed to stay exactly where you want it to be. Don't worry about anything, just install a recovery like TWRP or CWM first, make a full nandroid backup before you decide to do anything messy so that you can always return to where your z is right now to the very exact state. I would recommend you that you should try a custom ROM instead too, monxDIFIED and EXCELSUS both of them are very good custom roms based on stock.

[Q] custom ringtone and moto g2 running Lollipop

Hi,
This is my first post on any forum and I really apologize if i am doing something amiss but please consider my problem and let me know if there is something wrong that i am doing with my phone. I am not posting this on any specific forum cause i have tried the solutions provided already and i dont know where to put this one. I am from India and just got a Moto G (2nd Generation) 2 days ago and it immediately upgraded to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop through the wi-fi. The first upgrade had some issues causing the screen to freeze and go black. I called Motorola support and they asked me to do a factory reset post which things started off fine till yesterday morning when I tried customizing the ringtone. I have tried everything, every hint provided in this forum, in you-tube and in Motorola support forums and the call centre support but to no avail.
Things I have tried:
1. Placing the .mp3 file in the Ringtones folder in internal storage and selecting the same from settings-> sound and notification -> ringtones. The ringtone plays fine on selection but doesnt play when a call comes in. The phone just beeps.
2. I have tried renaming the file. There were no spaces in the filename before but still tried renaming it. Again the ringtone plays on selection but doesnt play when a call comes in. . The phone still beeps.
3. I have tried converting the mp3 file to ogg and then placing the same file in the Ringtones folder. Same result.
4. I used a File Explorer to go to the external storage, play the file through the bundled player and set as ringtone. It shows 'set successful' but the phone still beeps when a call comes in.
5. I finally called Motorola support. They first asked me to reset once again which I did and tried all the above again. Still no luck.
6. A second support person asked me to make a new 'Ringtone' folder in the internal storage and put the mp3 file there and try. Didnt help.
7. The final suggestion was to keep the phone in safe mode for 8 hours and then restart and try. When even this didnt help I thought of posting in this forum.
Also, I observed that all the old mp3 names (of my previous trials) still being listed in the list when browsed through Media Storage even if the old files are removed from the Ringtones location (this is persisting even after multiple restarts of the phone). Surprisingly, on selection it still plays. The list gets refreshed only if i do a factory reset. I tried doing a cache reset but was unable to go beyond the 'Android in Distress' screen. Pressing the Vol Up key for 10-15 secs and then tapping the power key doesnt do anything. I tried it for more than 8 times since the morning.:crying::crying:
Please note that all my mp3 are of high quality (256 to 320 kbps) and mostly >6 MB in size. I didn't see any limits on either so haven't tried toning them down. Should I?
Please let me know if there is something wrong that i am doing or something odd with the phone? My first ever mobile phone was a small, slim Motorola (12 years ago)and i really dont want to return this one.
Could you please help me out? Sorry for the long post but just wanted to make sure I didnt miss any details.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can't find anything on XDA relating to your specific, so I think it's best to ask the Moto G community if they can assist you. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your specific device forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
Moto G (2014)
Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum (this is where your thread is going to be moved to):
G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!

Did you perform the factory-reset from menu or from recovery?
Thanks for moving my thread appropriately.
I actually did a factory reset from inside the settings and not from the boot. It was as per the Motorola assistance personnel's advice. Should I do a reset from the boot?
I guess I offended the 'gods of mobiles' (Motorola and Google). .
My Nexus 5 which i gave to my sister in US, supposedly just took an upgrade to 5.1 and the best it does currently is restart every 20 minutes. My Motorola isn't that bad definitely but slightly annoying every time a call comes in.
The only one chugging along smooth till now is my good old S3.
Sorry, coming back to the point. I actually asked a Motorola US support person through my sister in US and he had a slightly different reply. He asked me to wait for a week with the phone (max 10 days was his words). The phone would work fine soon. He said there were some initial issues with the upgrades which iron out given some time. He just asked me to restart the phone a couple of times every day. If things didnt work out he said I could return the phone to the online site from where i got it or get it checked at a Motorola service centre for free.
I thought about it and i think i can wait for a few more days trying out other solutions.
