Hi Guy's, I seem to be experiencing the opposite problem to what everyone else on this forum is experiencing.
Whenever I make or receive a call, the ear volume is always set to the highest which is too loud especially when in quiet environments as everyone around me can hear what the other person on the end of the line is saying, plus it almost deafens me.
Even when I turn the volume down during a call, it always defaults back to maximum volume during the next call.
I looked under the "volumes" section in the settings but can't seem to see an option for this.
Can anyone help me on this please.
Thanks

Something sure seems to be messed up, try backuping your data and then do a factory reset and check if the issue is associated with the rom itself, if thats the case you should install some other rom or try any mod that modifies your musicfx, like purexaudio.

Thanks I forgot to mention that I am running the stock firmware that came with the phone. It was on android 4.1 when I purchased it and I have since updated it to 4.2.2 but the problem persists.
I would like to know if this happens with other Xperia Zs. Does the ear volume stay on the last level you set it to or does it reset every time a new call is made?
Once I know what it's supposed to do, I will try a factory reset before getting involved with custom roms.

No, Its supposed to stay exactly where you want it to be. Don't worry about anything, just install a recovery like TWRP or CWM first, make a full nandroid backup before you decide to do anything messy so that you can always return to where your z is right now to the very exact state. I would recommend you that you should try a custom ROM instead too, monxDIFIED and EXCELSUS both of them are very good custom roms based on stock.

Hi,
My TYTN suddenly don't have any sound.just vibrate only when incoming call and sms received. before this, everything work fine. it just happen after i change from silent mode to normal mode.
Is it related to my ROM? for ur info, my
ROM Version is 3.29.707.0 WWE
ROM Date: 05/07/08
Radio Version: 1.65.16.25
Protocol Version: 25.83.40.02H
I do searching regarding to my problem. Some people say that it is the radio version problem. I don't know which radio version is suitable for me. can anyone suggest to me?
I try to play MP3 in my TYTN but still no sound. I've also restart my phone.but it still same issues. Any recommendation to solve this problem?
Thanks
hmmm, lets take a step back and first think about any possible changes you may have made just before the problem occurred. you say you only changed the sound profile from silent to normal mode. are you certain this was the ONLY major change you made? for example, did you just flash the ROM you are using or you have been using it for quite some time?
if changing the sound profile was really the only thing you did before the problem occurred, then your radio version SEEMS fine and you probably shouldn't change it.
have you checked the sound volume (system as well as ringer)? try bringing the volume down to zero and then bring it back up.
maybe you should change the profile back to silent mode or vibrate mode and then do a soft reset and then change it back to normal mode and then do a soft reset.
as a last resort, have you tried a hard reset?
Edit:
Thanks ASCIIker
I have made a new thread.

Im having this same problem.
It started happening for no apparent reason.
I changed to this Ultimate-X2.V11 -23017 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507281 to fix the problem
and on start up it worked fine and was able to make a phone call play songs etc. but after that it dies again.
If I reset it the sound comes back but I am only able to make one phone call. and then I have to reset again. Silent or vibrate settings don't seem to affect it.
Note that before updating to ultimatex2 with my old RaphaelIII Rom. Restarting the phone or dong a hard reset did not help.
any thoughts?
Edit:
I Just discovered that If I leave the phone playing a tune by itself on a table, the sound will randomly come back on and go away. so there is nothing I'm doing that is causing it to go away.

thread "hijacking" is not a good idea...
still, it seems that you are also experiencing the same issue. IF AND ONLY IF you also did NOTHING major when the issue started (like flashing a ROM). you say you flashed a ROM AFTER the issue started to try to correct the problem so that makes your case a bit different than the person who started this thread (who really did not do anything major it seems).
in your case, did you follow ALL the instructions on the first page and FAQ of the ultimate x2 thread? i'm asking because that ROM requires flashing stock ROM before flashing ultimate x2, and you haven't even mentioned which radio and spl you are using, so you haven't provided enough information. all the same, the above quoted post of yours seems to belongs in the ultimate x2 thread in my opinion, hence why i suggested that thread "hijacking" is not a good practice.
Ok, so for some reason, my phone has suddenly started answering all my calls on speaker phone, and it's obnoxious.
I haven't changed any options or anything that I could logically say would make that happen, so I'm not sure what the deal is.
But I know it's something with my settings because it survived a ROM flash after I restored my settings.
Any ideas?

Do you use Go SMS? If so, update it. They had a bug where it caused phones to go into speakerphone immediately on call. The update fixed it.
I bought my Incredible S from Virgin Mobile Canada last summer (I live in Turkey). I've got a weird problem for about a week: there is no sound! When I play videos on Youtube, when I play games, when I plugged in the headphones, when the phone is supposed to ring (there is only vibration)... there is no sound when the phone is turning on, as well.
It happened suddenly and it didn't fall down on the ground recently.
Another weird thing is: when I accept a call / or call someone, the speaker is automatically on and I have to turn it off. The speaker is working well on phone calls by the way.
I checked almost everything in the settings, and everything seems normal. I don't think it's about the hardware but I want to ask you about this problem.
Software Info: [I haven't rooted or done anything to my phone, I use it as its first day settings (yeah, even the Android version, don't ask why, I can't receive any updates for one year for some reason and it's killing me!)]
Android version -> 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version -> 2.1
Baseband V. -> 20.2805.30.08AU_3805.04.03.27_M
Thank you for your help.
I got rid of automatically turning on problem of speaker. I managed to hear the sound in the opening scene as well (after I took the battery off - 1 minute wait - and place it again).
But I have still no sound. Is there a possiblity of blown speaker? How can I test if it is blown or not? If it is blown, would the headphones still be working?

Blown speakers shouldn't have any affect on your headphone jack.
Sorry I couldn't help you any further
EDIT: this might sound silly but is your phone on silent?
Did you check all volumes i.e; Ringer, Notification, Media, Voice, System.
There are more but I think these are all the relevant ones.
Just check if any of these are set down to mute
Hit Thanks if I helped

Factory reset can't solve the situation. Any other suggestions? It's really annoying! Still no voice! But there is voice when the phone is turning on... And no voice with the headphones as well. I don't think it's a blown speaker situation... What can I do? It's really urgent!

Can it be something about ''Radio'' ? I don't know anything about it but it sounds like it is something that controls the audio?

Hi,
Any progress of your sound problem ?
I have an exact problem. Phone speaker suddenly stop working. No ring tone (can't hear incoming call), can't play music, can't hear from headset. But the power up sounds ok , when the HTC logo came up. Tried restart and all sort of setting to no avail. However, I can hear the speaker rings when I call someone and speak to hear them normally.
Very frustrating. Have not done factory reset yet ... that will be the last resource ...

Yes it happens every time and I don't know how to stop this problem.
I had the same issue after unlocking the bootloader/rooting and installing furnace kernel, so I switched to the stock kernel and the problem is still there (from time to time). The only solution I've came across is to reboot the phone. Any other idea would be appreciated.

But when we flash the stock firmware, doesn't it fully replace every kind of customization? If this problem doesn't get resolved soon I would have to sell my Moto G.
Check this threads, it seems to be a problem since the previous model. Looks like motorola suggest us to clear the cache partition.

Lets discuss this problem here, we shouldn't hijack the Furnace thread.
I followed the Cache cleaning instruction you gave, it didn't have any Dalvik cleaning method.
The problem still exists after clearing "Cache" only.

Before trying a hard reset or flashing a new rom, try this. It's a solution someone found for the Moto G (2013) and it might help you out.

Just to make sure, you do understand that my problem doesn't involve "Not getting any sound", the person on the other end of the phone hears his voice a split second before they hear mine. Somehow their own voice bounces back to them along with my voice.
I still tried the method on the youtube video which is why I am posting 2 hours later.
Sadly, it didn't work. I tried calling my Moto G number from another number and from the other end I could hear my own voice repeating.:crying:

I know, I had the same exact problem when I flashed the kernel. Had notification sounds, music, speakers working alright, but every time I wanted to make a call there was no dial tone and no sound in my phone (the other person was able to hear me tho). What I did was restoring to stock kernel (I made a backup in TWRP before flashing Furnace), then did a wipe cache/dalvik cache. I can only recommend you to do a hard reset and try to install a factory firmware.
Pd. There's a bug that worths the shot checking. Go to settings → Sound → Audio Effects → Turn them off → Reboot.

Actually your problem is different than mine. I can hear dial tone and even the person on the other end of the phone clearly. But people on the other end of the call can you both their own voice and my voice.
So if they say "Hi" and right after it I say "Hello", they would first hear their own voice which is "Hi" and then my "Hello"
From my end their is no problem.
My Moto G is sending back both the incoming and my own audio data through the mic. The phone is only supposed to send only my voice to the other end.
I just tried having a conversation with a "headphone with mic" and I didn't have this problem. So it seems this is a hardware problem.
I chatted with Motorola customer care and they told me to return the phone for replacement.

HI all,
Hope some xda bros can help me with this annoying issue.
After update to miui 9. I'm having this issue. After make a phone call, the screen will automatically off (as usually). But the strange thing is i cannot turn it back on (press power button, finger scanner, vollume up /down, or anything) it just cannot turn back on. Its only back on if the call is ended.
You know how bad it is when i make a wrong phone call...!!!! or accidentally dial wrong person, or pick up the call i dont want to.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
i have the same Problem with the Global Rom Miui9.
I install the xiaomi.eu Stable Miui9 Rom with factory reset and no Problems with this issue
i got few issue after upgrading from 6 to 7.... reflash ur rom to be sure to have a correct MIUI 9 and not mixed flash.. or u can flash official via fastboot then reflash Xiaomi,eu via twrp, fastboot method deliver a solid way to have a clean and perfect install.
No one seems to know anything about it. Asked in forums also. What is better in forums nobody seems to help anybody.
I have that same problem.
This happens to my device on any rom. My simple solution: When the screen remains off after a call or listening a sound record on whatsapp; just put your device to your ear again(like in a call) and move it away quickly. It turns the screen on every time i do regarding this situation. Cheers.
Ps: How the hell did you open this thread and it redirects to xda.tv or something on xda app that I've been trying to post this for 2 days.
holy ****ing **** same issue here its annoying pain in the ass. Mines doesn't blackout only on call but also randomly. Guess have to remove this MIUI 9 rom mess.
