Hi,
I thoroughly searched this forum, other forums, and google.. with no luck on resolving my issue.
The Problem:
I "successfully" flash amon_ra's custom recovery, cyanogen's version of the ra recovery, and other custom recovery images through fastboot.. I get the OKAY on both reading and writing (i think that is what it says) from the command prompt in fastboot.. but when I reboot the phone to actually use them.. it always defaults to the stock android recovery.
My bootloader is unlocked
I tried flashing while running FRF72 non-rooted
I tried flashing FRF72 rooted via superuser unlock from MoDaCo
I tried flasing with MoDaCo custom ROM r18 based on FRF72
No luck.
The ONLY way that I can ever get to a custom recovery is by using clockwork's app, loading the custom recovery through the app, and then rebooting into recovery via the app. This will only work on the initial reboot. If I try to reboot into recovery from the app after having restarted, it will go to the little android and I have to use vol up and hit power at the same time. At that point, I would have to re-flash the custom recovery through the app, and then reboot via the app again.
Is this just a FRF72 problem? Has anyone else experienced this?? And is there a fix for this? I am terrified to do anything to my phone because I worry about being able to get to my nandroid backups in the event of a problem.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
Anyone have any suggestions??
i cant get this to work either idk why.. But yeah i would love help with this also..
My phone isn't working again!
I was running ChromatcRom4.5 on my g1(its the first rom i used) and decide i wanted to try out another Rom in the process of doing that the new rom i wanted to try didn't work out and now I want to go back to my chromatcRom4.5.
I am so lost! My phone just reboots it self back in recovery mode everytime. It says Chromatc installed and when I hit "reboot system now", it reboots but it doesn't load the rom and just resets and goes back in recovery mode. What do I need to do so it will load the rom correctly? Am I missing files or am I not installing it right? Please I really need to my phone to be working.
sorry Im new to all this and still learning. Much help will be greatly appracaited.
probably you had a corrupted flash.
my best bet is that
1- you do a full system wipe "won't effect your sd card" using
"fastboot erase system -w"
2-reboot into recovery and do a full manual erase "system, cach, dalvik..." just to be sure
3-re download your desired rom and put it on SD
4-make sure that if you rom of choice needs DangerSPL that you meet the requirement.
5-flash away.
hope that helps.
p.s. please show or post your Phone specs so that anyone can help you more efficiently.
I am currenting useing The G1
I tired all the directions and still the same.
using clockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
-wipe date/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-advanced wipe dalvik cache/battery
Install zip from sdcard
-choose zip from sdcard
-apply: G1-radio-2_22_23_02.zip
then go back to menu and addvaced and hit reboot in recovery
-apply: spl-signed.zip (is that he danger-spl?)
and reboot in recovery
apply: wipedatacachesystem.zip
and then apply:chromatic4.5.zip
and reboot system
My phone reboots and when its at the G1 logo and reboots again and now its in recovery mode again. Iam not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help please?
and If their another Rom you guys think is better and stable, can you guys give me to link to how to flash it?
also how do you "fastboot erase system -w"
nevermind i found out the problem after millions of times i failed.
clockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 never works for me i dont know why that is.
I had to downgrade to the older one in order to run Roms w/o any problems. Anyways the older one is way better!
clockwork tends to have problems with g1's. or rather, g1's tend to have problems with clockwork.
that's why i stick with the trusty Amon Ra. except a themed version of it

Hi folks,
I tried updating my S plus to ICS today by following the instructions listed here:
theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-plus-i9001-ice-cream-sandwich-update-install-cyanogenmod-9-cm9-pretty-good-and-working-rom
I read through the instructions and it looked pretty simple. I successfully installed Team Win recovery, performed a backup, wiped, and then installed the CM9 rom.
After the installation, the phone just boots back into Team Win recovery. I tried reverting to the backup, but it still just boots to recovery every time.
Now that I'm stuck in TeamWin recovery, I'm at a loss on what to try next .
Does anyone have any insight on how I can fix the problem?
Thanks,
Evan
Sometimes when you flash new Recovery (usually when replacing stock recovery with modified recovery for the first time) you get stuck at bootloop. It means /boot partition was damaged. After flashing TWRP did you restart your phone and it booted correctly, or did you install everything (TWRP, got backup, wipe and install new ROM) at once?

So is reflashing in Odin what you are suggesting? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.
And yes, after I flashed TWRP it booted fine, the 2nd time I went into recovery, performed the backup, wiped, then flashed the rom. I've tried wiping both the cache's with no success. I've also tried reflashing the rom, wiping the cache's, restoring with the backup, wiping cache's again... nothing seems to be working
What would be different if I had installed everything (TWRP, backup, wipe, rom) at the same time?
*Edit* Reflashed through Odin and it worked great! Thanks for the help, I'm a little scared to start messing with the phone again, but ICS is tempting...
Got the rom working with a fresh backup after fixing the bootloop. Thanks again for the link divibyzero, the troubleshooting steps solved the problem, whatever it was, and now its running ICS
These Samsungs S+'s seem to be a little more finiky than my HTC.

You didn't specify, so I'll assume you have an i9001, if this is not the case, you probably shouldn't follow these instructions
Just reflash the bootloader as explained here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24831012&postcount=1330) and you'll be fine. I had the exact same problem when I had installed CWM on my own device. It's not with adb, but it's not like you have to do a lot of effort to get Odin or anything and it will fix your device.

You must properly install Samsung mobile drivers on your PC, kill Samsung Kies process (or even better: uninstall Kies) and enable USB debugging on your phone. Then it will work.

The problem was that I was using Windows 8. I was able to resolve the issue after doing it on Windows XP.
ok first of all i have my sensation with hboot 1.28. i have been using Evervolve rom for a few month. i got bored yesterday and decided to flash a new rom. this is when stuff went wrong. i use TWRP recovery. after backing up everything, i did a factory reset, system wipe, etc. when i restart the device into bootloader, i can no longer boot into TWRP. as soon as recovery is selected, the white HTC screen pop up and the phone would vibrate 7 times and the white screen would persist for hours and nothing would happen. i tried flashing clockworkmod recovery and older versions of TWRP via fastboot. but it didnt solve my problem, i still cant boot into recovery. if i can get TWRP back online i can easily restore my system pls help ASAP. urgent.

Hi, I think before anything to do, use from droid explorer on PC and backup data from internal SD on your PC. Then I tell you what you can do.
