I know for sure my N1's bootloader is unlocked...then I rooted it through my mac last night...the terminal said ok blah blah writing etc...but I never saw a picture or anything come up...just the terminal saying ok etc...should I have seen anything? The reason I ask is I downloaded a program for rooted phones called screenshot and its giving me an error so I thought maybe I didn't root correctly...so should I have seen anything on the screen when I rooted it or no?
THANKS!
Download and try the Nexus one flashlight application, if it works then you've got root. If not then flash your rooted rom again as this usually fixes it.
Flashlight worked...I have an app called SUPERUSER PERMISSIONS that looks like a ninja in my app list...did that come from rooting? Maybe the screenshot program just didn't work for me!
Thanks...

Yep that's probably the superuser 2.0.3 human readability app. It could well be that the application simply doesn't work on your rom/android version.
Thanks buddy!

One rooted when you try and run a program that requires root access a notification should open asking if you why to allow root access.
Click on the super user app. What happens?
nope nothing pop up to ask if i allow the access...
I have tried a two types of one click root program which is Superoneclick and another one by TGA_Gunnman..
But both act in the same way that nothing will pop up and ask whether to allow access...
What happens when you click on the super user app?
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Have you tried replacing apk with market, search superuser in market, see if it shows installed, try to update or replace
You are on stock, correct
yeap i have tried to reboot after the rooting process...
I can open the superuser app too.
Yes im on stock.
Im thinking should i use z4root now?
Might as well. Did you check for the app in the market?
What are you looking to accomplish with root? What is your goal?
yup i checked the market too... it shows i ald installed the superuser..
Just want to root and use the rom manager to back up...
And i dunno y suddenly the root works! now im okay! Thanks for the help!
I guess we need to install again from market and reboot in order to use this...
No problem, who knows what the issue was. Enjoy, I am sure you will be flashing roms in no time
hie guys, i have juz unrooted my phone using the se update
service. so now i would like to know whether the unrooting is successful!
Use ROOTCHECKER app....attached to this post.....
PRESS THANKS IF I HELPED......
Well, check if the su app is still there or not
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
well i already checked whther su was there or not bt it is not. more on its not difficult to install it from the market. doesn't mean that when you have su, it means your phone is rooted.
You can also try Titanium Backup - it will show You an error if Your phone is not rooted
just try some apps, what require root.

i guess not.
if SU isnt their and you haven't downloaded it from the market + you have tried apps that require Root access and have gave you an error, then your not rooted

I have rooted my phone (Samsung galaxy ace). I want to use some of my office related application which doesn't works on rooted device. How to disable the superuser accesses temporarily? I dont want to unroot my phone. Please help me in this. Sorry for my poor english
Open superuser app, go to settings and check the tickbox. If that setting is only available in the licensed version then buy the license on play store. In fact, buy it anyway! Support the dev!

I dont understand how an app *wont* work on a rooted device
if thats the case you can just deny root access when it asks for it, it should work just as well
or you could remove the su file from /system/bin and then replace it when you want superuser access back
That is pretty interesting...How an app wont "work" on rooted phones...Anyway,unroot it,the file is available on the thread, and flash root back when you need it ..
Insert witty sentence here

This is Impossible, I have to use that application daily, It is not possible for me to keep on rooting and unrooting my device always..
There isn't any app that won't work on a rooted phone, root just gives you access to the phone root directory...I believe its a problem with the app. Can you supply us with the app name?
Also, rather than superuser, use SuperSU from here
Its easier to use.
Also try going into superuser and denying the app root permission.

There are apps that don't work on rooted devices. They ask for su permissions, when granted or denied, the app closes.
Wich apps?

Just off the top of my head, try the "legend of master" game from the playstore, some sideloaded custom corporate apps, and the apps the OP is talking about.
If u are on rooted stock rom it must work
If u are on cm7/cm9/10
Then it might fail

Hmm... Okay then I've probably met some of those. Anyways, if they ask for SU permission then aren't they not meant for unrooted phones? If they don't run on unrooted phones and force close on rooted ones, then how do you run them?
Anyhow, please supply us with the app name. We can't help you if you don't allow us to.
Sorry if this is a very noobish question, but I've done a pretty good amount of searching and haven't found anything. Every once in a while when I check an app like WakeLock Detector or browse Xposed modules my phone will tell me that I am not rooted. I use root checker just to double check and it confirms this. Upon reset my phone will 'go back' to being rooted. I've done a factory reset and rooted again but was still getting the same problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I'm on a Sprint HTC One with 4.4.2 for the record.
To any mods: sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it or let me know where to correctly post it.

Supersu. Although I might have figured out the problem.
For some reason the binaries weren't updating correctly so I just did a clean install of it again and that seems to have done the trick. I'll update in a few days if the problem's gone away for good.
