I need some help. Does anyone know of a 2.1 Rom that is rooted?
Everything out there now but the official 2.1 RUU....if you have 2.1 one on your phone now and you aren't currently rooted, you are out of luck until they get a working exploit.
Not sure if that answered you question, you didn't leave a lot of details. FResh, Damage, or the Zen MY Touch Slide port are all 2.1 one roms that maintain root.
If you are looking for a bone stock 2.1 with root there is a SprintUpdate2.zip file Damage made the day..well hour.. it was droped.
did you run the Official Final Sprint RUU? If so, you have lost root access.
If you did not run the Official Final Sprint RUU (IE only ran a test RUU, or still on cupcake), then the answer to your question is that all of the custom roms in this section have root access
can someone help me unrooting. i need to take my phoone to repairs lol
Use the Sprint RUU to unroot. Make sure you use the one in the unrooting thread (.5 version) and not the latest (.6). It'll make it easier to re-root later.
And this should be in Q&A or General.
can i untroot back to 1.5? where can i find the sprint ruu
Why go back to 1.5, 2.1 is official now. And it is possible, just depends if you have e ever updated hboot

I also need to send my phone in for service. I have hboot 1.41. Is there anything else I need to be worried about? Can I just run the latest official RUU from HTC and be done with it? I've read about people messing stuff up that way but maybe that is the test RUU or something.
tell Sprint your phone fell in the toilet full of sh** i doubt they'll want your phone back then.

Hi, I have searched high and low on the forums and can't find exactly what I need.
I have a rooted HTC Hero (CDMA) running stock 2.1(update) from Sprint. I flashed ClockworkRecovery. I need to take this phone back to Sprint for a trade in and it needs to be exactly stock (Sprint 2.1 update).
I want to:
-Flash the stock recovery image
-Unroot
-Keep the Sprint 2.1 update
Thanks in advance for the help guys.

I'll gladly help, but first, I'm gonna have to ask a couple questions, how did you root your phone? did you use z4? and are you s-off? if you don't know that that is, I can explain. Under the assumption that you have gone with a temporary root (s-on), you can go here and follow the instructions in the OP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804692
Hope this helps, Happy Thanksgiving!

I rooted using the method outlined here:

My guess is this is s-on. I will wait to unroot until that is confirmed though.

If you go into h-boot, it will tell you either s-off or s-on. To get there, power down the device, hold the down volume button and the power button and the phone should boot into h-boot.
Hello,
Cause I want to get SuperCID (just for fun) I decided to downgrade to RUU_Vivo_HTC_WWE_1.36.405.1_Radio_Radio_20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.11_M_release_172670_signed.exe
I was running ARHD 3.0, stock ICS kernel and the latest ICS Radio and 4EXT Recovery. First I used Nonverbose's script to lower my software version. I only changed in his 'runme.cmd' the lines 'misc_version -s 2.00.000.0' to 'misc_version -s 1.00.000.0', cause software version 2.00 is to high for RUU 1.36 WWE.
I did that without errors and directly after that I flashed the RUU. That RUU flashed also in a few minutes without errors and when the phone tried to start for the first time it was totally dead. Nothing signal at all. Only thing I got is this while running 'fastboot devices'
Code:
└▼áß*0000000 fastboot
I can run other commands but nothing is happen. I guess I screwed my phone cause the overwrite protection of Revolutiony HBOOT. What can I do?
I'm able to run RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.30.405.1_Radio_20.2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M_release_199308_signed.exe, but it hangs on 'waiting for bootloader...', of course it's hanging there, the bootloader is totally screwed.
Can I cure my phone with the RIFF JTAG Box?

You know you are not suppose to downgrade misc_version lower than 2.00 as it's fatal to your phone :sly:

Lol, I didn't know. I know now. What can I do?
I think this looks great, but I've to pay 120 euro at least for that RIFF Box. Maybe they will repair my phone under warranty cause they don't know why it won't get on? I'm still in the warranty period and the phone looks very nice and untouched.

You have officially radio bricked your phone. All of the GB ROMS and above used version 2 of the radio and you cannot downgrade or flash the radio back to version 1 which you have tried to do with the RUU you chose to flash. You now have a bricked phone and I have not seen any documented procedures that an end user can do to get out of this state.

Oke that would make sense. Cause misc_version succesfully lowered my version number to 1.00 and I was be able to run a full RUU downgrade after that, it couldn't be the version thing.
I remember that there is truly a overwrite protection on Revolutionary which has to be disabled first, but also that RUU 1.36 WWE is running hboot-1.09 and that Revolutionary should be running that hboot too.
I guess it defenitley a RADIO thing then. I will give it a go under warranty. I hope that they won't be able to see that I'm still on a S-OFF device. But just for documentation, what would be the right procedure to go from an ICS ROM+ICS Radio to Froyo ROM+Froyo Radio. How should we do that?
If even the official RUU can't downgrade that Radio, what else can do?
I don't think there is any way to go back to Froyo, as per what tpbklake said. You can only go back to GB.
Out of interest, what was the reasoning of going back to a Froyo ROM? Is this supposed to open up a different method of altering your CID?

Yes, with the tool incsfree (in dev section) we should be able to get SuperCID, but the tool works only on Froyo. Froyo and S-OFF should be enough.

There is no way to revert a ROM/radio combo once you are on V2 back to a V1 ROM/radio combo!

The didn't see at HTC that I screwed the phone myself. They did a boardswap under warranty for free and my phone is up and running again.

Awesome, glad to see you're up and running, welcome back
If its actually dead and doesn't do anything, from experience at other service centres I have had, its not worth replacing one part to fix the phone, taking an hour or so, rather than just replace the motherboard for double/triple the cost, but only a few mins
Happy to have you back mate and to hear some good news

You're lucky you still had warranty left. Congrats on getting your phone back to working condition. I didn't see this thread when you originally posted this.
I just bought a HTC Vivid, and before I start rooting and doing all that stuff, I'd like to know if anyone has a 2.3.4 stock rom. I want this because if I brick it then I will be able to flash it back, and I can't seem to find one. I've been searching all over, so if anyone has a stock rom it would be very helpful!
Thank you
I hope this is the right category, just registered
Just use this...if your bricked you won't be able to use recovery to flash a Rom...here is a ruu...its not gingerbread but it will bring you to official ics stock...http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe

Oh even better, I was just planning to go back to 2.3.4 then upgrade to 4.0.3 anyways, this is great. Thanks a bunch!
EDIT: Wait, will this act as a flash and flash the whole OS on my vivid back to ICS 4.0? or just update it...

Okay, good. Thanks. Sorry, first time rooting
Which also means that it'll flash the stock kernel, ROM, and wipe your entire phone. Remember to relock the bootloader before running the RUU if it's unlocked.

How would I go about unlocking/locking it back up? I'm not quite sure what to do, I don't have the phone just yet, but its in the mail. I'll most likely need help rooting it when I get it..

Getting your phone flashed to the ICS RUU will help you later when flashing custom roms (as I believe all of them are ICS-based)
The Superguide sticky thread in development can help you with the Bootloader Unlock procedure and many other things like rooting and prepping your phone for the S-OFF procedure (if you want to S-OFF your phone). Link below.
Unlocking the bootloader gives you permission to flash to partitions like your recovery partition (so you can flash custom recovery like clockworkmod etc.)
Once your bootloader is unlocked, RUU's will refuse to flash to your phone until you re-lock the bootloader. To relock your bootloader, power up the phone into HBOOT/Bootloader mode, choose Fastboot, then in a command prompt, run the command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
To confirm it worked, next time you power up the phone into HBOOT/Bootloader mode, you should see at the top of the screen **RELOCKED**
Then you will be able to flash an RUU via your computer (while having your phone in fastboot mode)
When you get to the S-OFF portion of the superguide:
If you DO want to S-OFF your phone, follow that section of the superguide EXACTLY. It has important steps for prepping your phone for the S-OFF procedure.
If you do NOT want to S-OFF your phone, note that whenever you flash custom ROMS, the kernel partition must be flashed manually via fastboot (either before or after flashing the rom - I don't think it matters if it is before or after - anyone know this for sure?). I think every ROM includes the kernel (boot.img) file inside the zip so you can copy it to the same folder that has your fastboot.exe so you can run:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Here is the superguide link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
Or use the toolkit...its easy and walks you through the steps of unlocking bootloader and rooting...it also has a relock bootloader option so you can relock it in a click of a button...
If your gonna use the ruu...use it before you even root/unlock.the bootloader...that way you won't have to relock it
Here's the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003

Wow! Thank you both for your information. I'm sure that they will both help me out greatly when it comes down to rooting.
I am running 2.3.4 on my phone and looking to update next week when I get my new battery. Did you have any issues with your update? Are you running ICS now? Any advice?
Follow the user guides. It's not hard or long just make sure you read the guides so you can update the bootloader properly.
its impossible to get ahold of the RUU's for the vivid, i need the stock Bell one, seeing that i have a Virgin Mobile SIM, I'm still on GB and i want to update to ICS. already going through the process of returning to S-ON
There are ICS ruu's available on goo.im
Even the bell one

Perhaps a new question thread is more appropriate for your issue. I recommend you do that and describe this boot loop in more detail. Also, I remember there being a thread re: s-off unsuccesful doesnt mean phone is bricked.
