I have used several custom roms with sense 2.5 and on most of them there has been a nagging issue with the photos tab. If I slide to the PHOTOS TAB in portrait or landscape it is fine but if I slide to the PHOTOS TAB in portrait then switch to landscape mode everything becomes unaligned. Is there a way to fix this?
In your chosen registry editor, go to:
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila
and change EnableFullScreen to 1
After a soft reset everything should be fine
With a leo based manila build you can use this but then the rotation will occur in this tab as well as another, not advisable imo.
@porkenhimer, you mentioned this in my thread, I am unsure what you are experiencing as you did not provide screen shots to show what you are trying to explain...
Regards,
WC

Has anyone else noticed that when viewing pictures in the Album application in TF3D2, that the Gsensor appears to have no effect? Landscape pics appear in Landscape mode, no matter how you hold the phone, upright or sideways, and portrait pics appear in Portrait mode even if you've tilted your phone sideways.
Or is it just me? It's a bit of a pain if you're holding your phone in one hand and want to see all your pics the right way up!
(I'm not referring to slideshows, by the way)
This is strange, I've noticed it to. I'd like the photo album to auto rotate - any tweaks that anyone can suggest?
And even Gyrator doesn't rotate when viewing a picture. When i'm viewing the whole set of pictures, it works, but as soon as i select one, it doesn't. Strange...
Just wondering, how is the device to know what the bottom of the picture is? The picture could have been taken landscape or portrait, depending on how you held the device when you made it. IMO it's the best solution to just display the picture best fit on the screen...

The device does know. In the tab for pictures, it displays all pictures in their right aspects. As it also does in the gallery. Just not when you click on the picture to bring it up.

You're right, it does! I never noticed that. Clever..

It must be stored in the file somewhere...
...anyway, getting back to the point. The Gsensor has absolutely no effect when viewing pictures. I cannot hold my phone upright and view a landscape image. This seems wrong to me - I'm 100% sure my old Touch Pro used the Gsensor to determine which way to display your pics - this seems like a big step backwards!
Mind you, it'll all be moot in September when Winmo 6.5 comes out - TF3D will be pretty much redundant :O)
any program that can help on photos rotation? thanks.
i get the same problem
i have used gyrator2 but it just can rotate the interface and 180 deg

i tried gyrator as well and it doesn't work maybe i dont know how to set it
Dosen't the Photoalbum rotate itself?I think it rotates but lets the pictures in their original position/rotation.
The buttons rotate, right? The old photoalbum did a better job^^
I found it to be a very annoying feature on the diamond1.
Sometimes you just want to see a pictuer from another angel, and the autorotation made that impossible.

Yes. The Exif information of the pictures contains generally the Focal length, shutter speed, iso, date & time, sometimes GPS coordinates (can be added later with software, and some new camera include GPS), and of course orientation of the picture : landscape or portrait. It stores even if it was 180° rotated in portrait or landscape.
Regards,
Olivier.
I have, in the past, installed various utilities to make my screen rotate automatically, but none of them worked as great as I wanted them to work (nothing managed to enable BubbleBreaker to run in Landscape mode, the Manila never rotated properly, etc.) so I ended up deleting them and putting newer ones and they didnt do what I wanted either.
recently my sms and browsers stopped rotating too and sometimes when i manage to make them rotate, they wont go back to the original (portrait mode) and everything just messes up.
I know that I can hard reset my phone and revert back to the original settings, but then I've got loads of apps installed and stuff customized the way I like.
I was wondering if they is any thing I can do to revert all the settings (for the screen rotation) back to the original values without losing any information, apps, other stuff I have on my phone.
Thanks
P.S. please provide a list (if possible links) of the apps I will need to use too.
P.P.S if possible I would like to know how to set other things too, like how to change the position of the start menu to make them come on the bottom bar instead of on top, how to use manila in landscape mode, how to keep the music player on while I turn on the camera (I could do this on my BlueAngel)
Here's what I would do;
Install TD2 Tools which has a rotation manager.
Then install Topaz Keyboard Controller and map one of your hardware keys to rotate your screen.
To get bottom bar start menu would require flashing a custom ROM as WM 6.5.x is not available stock on Topaz but has been ported from other devices.
Music palyer while camera is on seems would be a memory resource issue.
thanks
but im still curious about the cam and the media player
since you could do it with older slower devices running WM2003 but now the new ones which are supposed to be faster (more mem) won't allow you

As devices have improved, so have the cameras, but they have always been resource hogs.
Hi i was looking into the files of touchwizlauncher and widgets and all apks have landscape images, so it should support landscape? (JPH/JPC/JM8 i checked).
Even on JPC i had landscape for just a moment when i was coming back from a landscape app (couldnt reproduce it).
So there must be some setting to enable landscape...
is anyone interested and capable enough to look into this.?

Decompile the apk and check its manifest, does it rotate based on user,sensor...etc
You could maybe use this bug to determine what is being enaled to allow landscape.
I cant post a link as I'm a new user but the thread is on this site and the title is "Galaxy S i9000m touch wiz landscape bug"
I am having a real pain attempting to setup touch profiles for sixaxis on the Note.. I can't.
The basic procedure starts with importing a screen capture as background, and it as at this point that it fails... No matter in what orientation or how i try, the screen capture ALWAYS shows portrait mode... so it is not possible to hold the Note in landscape and create a landscape touch profile.. in line with how the game will be played..
any advice?
Note (non-Samsung type note):: I am rooted, have the PS3DS3 paired and working fine on a N64oid map created by others.. simply unable to correctly follow steps on the Note to create new profiles
I had that problem on my Atrix. What I wound up doing was rotating and resizing the image on my PC to compensate for the app forcing everything into Portrait view.
Thanks for this tip.. it certainly worked.
[EDIT 7th April]
Thanks to Scottmog in another thread, a cleaner solution is as follows.. goto settings>edit background>tap middle of screen.. it is a rotation button...

Hello, I was wondering whether anyone else has this problem? It seems that whichever way I take photos from the Camera, the resulting photos will be landscape even if I took it in portrait mode. I really don't like having to rotate every single portrait photo that I've taken. For example, I always have to rotate a portrait pic before uploading it on Twitter, otherwise it'll be sideways. Very troublesome.
I've googled the problem, searched throughout xdadev but no one seems to have this kind of problem. What's more annoying - the resulting photos show up correctly in the gallery, but when I transfer it to my laptop, the pics remain sideways. Very strange as my old Desire HD always auto-rotate a pic taken in portrait mode.
Cheers guys!

JACK HI, I believe there is a sort of problem(setting?) That causes that behaviour
Cause I can take pics in all the way and they are shown in the same way...landscape - landscape and portrait - portrait. With every rome I had!
If u don't find a solution rotate them manually ...which anyway is annoying !

Thanks for replying, simika! Unfortunately I've dug everywhere and there is no menu in the Settings that could solve my problem. It really is annoying having to manually rotate them because I love taking pictures in Portrait mode!
3rd party apps also won't autorotate image results. So annoyed.
I have the same problem. Looks all ok on the phone itself, but after transfer, they are all in landscape. I don't have that with my other 2 cameras and iphone.
I noticed that on one of my cameras, there are two settings, one to "rotate in camera only", and one to "rotate in camera and PC".
Looks like Note performs option 1, even though I have not found any setting at all in Note.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I've just discovered this same problem for my phone. Was this ever resolved? When I take snapshots, it's usually in portrait mode. Well I noticed something. While everything looks fine on the phone in the gallery, when sending people pictures, they sometimes (not all the time) get them in landscape. I also noticed that when uploading pictures to twitter, or facebook, pictures will be landscape, always rotated 90 degrees to the right. So in stead of "I" , I get "_" .
Then I noticed something, when entering the camera app, the status bar automatically appears on the right side of the phone, as if it's assuming that I rotated my phone to the left, meaning the right side of the phone is now the 'top.' Then when I hit the home button, I see my main screen rotate back to normal. I've tried turning screen rotation on and off, restarting my phone, powering down completely, removing the battery, and even turning off "auto rotate screen" in the accessibility options. I'm currently rooted and using a slightly modified official AT&T ICS ROM.
