Shortly after flashing to the niki radio, 1.65.29.22, I saw on the bootup screen, an 'H' in the corner. Having gained not much of a positive experience from this radio, I decided to try and flash to a different radio, a radio I had liked. While doing so, it always failed at 99% whether flashing to two other radios or trying to flash to a different rom.
Long ago, when I had first visited this forum, I remember there was a problem with the radio locking but can't seem to remember what exactly to search for to fix this. Any ideas?
[Edit] Change the title to better describe the issue.
[Edit] Additional Info: Does it help that the error I'm getting at the end is
[going to 1.64.21.18] - 262: Update Error
[going to 1.64.21.14] - 270: Update Date Error (Image file is corrupt) [freshly downloaded from 4shared]
Oh, I put in hardSpl 3.56. Would it matter to try the earlier versions?
[Final Edit] Thanks to everyone who helped. Here's the pattern: [In order of execution]
Changed SPL from 1.1 -> 3.56
Changed Radios from 1.65.29.22 -> 1.64.08.21 -> 1.65.21.18
in the kaiser forums as well as the kaiser ultimate radio thread, search for "radio from hell" and make sure (and pray!) that the version you currently have is NOT the radio from hell.
I changed the title of the thread to better describe the issue at hand. I just noticed that after installing Niki radio as listed above, I keep getting flashing issues that fail at 99% whether radio or new rom.

Have you read ASCIIker's answer above?
Well, the radio I had listed wasn't found in the thread. So, before I proceed to go through the steps, I would like to know if this is really a symptom that would require going through the steps.

Try another combination of hardslp (change your actual) and try to flash the radios again. Let's see if that works.

[Edit] Fixed? I think. I got a new radio on my thing after finally jumping to:1.64.08.21. Will try to flash it to one of the above radios. This one's camera doesn't seem to work.
[Edit2] Finally! Back to a radio that I really thought was great! I will now fix the title.

[writing from work in a hurry, so excuse me for not having all my details in front of me]
I'm a long-time avid user/flasher of the Wizard who recently bought an old BA on eBay for my wife. First thing I did was download the xplode WM5 ROM and flash the sucker. Very nice and now up-to-date.
Call volumes sucked, so I checked her Radio version, and it was 1.02 or something ridiculously old. I tried to flash the newer 1.15 Radio Rom using the bootloader app that came with it (MAUUpdate something). I got a country code error, so I added the special line to the config file to cheat.
Now it starts the process and never gets past 0% on radio flash. Just hangs. And then some strange 114 error when it finally dies.
I've tried with the newest MaUpgradeUt_noID files I could find. I even tried the 1.13 Radio ROM with no change.
I even re-flashed to WM2003 and tried to flash just the Radio from there. Kept getting "wrong device" message or connection error or something. I tried multiple times in a row (one post suggested the first time will error but second time will work).
I did SIM unlock just in case (Cingular on Cingular so shouldn't have been a problem).
Any suggestions out there? I think I've tried everything!
And yes, I've read all posts and wiki's. (Usually I read only Wizard, but have extended my reading to cover the BA).
Have you tried downgraging to WM2003 then upgrading to Radio 1.15 then finally back to WM5?
I had upgraded my radio ROM when still on WM2003 and found no problems!

yes, I did. mentioned that above.
I get either country code error (or after correcting that per the wiki advice, I get long period of hang followed by an odd error 113. I think.
does device origin matter? my BA is from ebay and the getdeviceinfo.cab leaves me a blank result except model number and a few random numbers...
I take it that when everyone else flashed to WM5, they followed the simple Wiki instructions and everything went fine? I think I got some odd-ball sub-model that is resistant to Radio flash.
Downgrade Your BA to the WM2003SE, then unlock it with xda3_all_unlock-v1.6_138.exe tool (You can find it in the BA forum here with description how to use it) then try to flash the Radio ROM You want....And then You might upgrade to WM 5.x again if only You wish.
I've tried one of the other sim unlock apps already (successfully) without solving the problem (was tried on WM5). I'll try the order of downgrade, unlock, then upgrade and see if it works.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Jeremy how did it go? are you able to upgrade to the latest radio rom? I also have the same problem as you do. Do you mind telling me the steps if you somehow able to upgrade to latest rom?
this worked for me. after you flash to a new rom (like xplode's), do not take out the BA yet. flash to the new 1.15 radio rom. then you can do the no/yes/yes routine.
I am new to completely flashing a custom ROM. I've been trying to flash a new ROM on my tilt, with the latest AT&T updates(ROM 1.62.502.0 Radio 1.27.14.09). Each time I try to flash a custom ROM I get Error 262 Update Error. The progress bar never gets past 0%. I've tried multiple PCs and tried reinstalling ActiveSync. Am I missing something, or do I have to do something first before being able to flash the new ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Steve
i suggest u read all the wiki's and stickies regarding flashing a custom rom before taking any action...u obviously havent read it or havent got a good understanding of it which is why ur getting this error...and btw..i also suggest u search for solutions rather than just posting a thread like this which can be answered through a brief search of the forums.
I am about 100% sure you searched, didn't you?
Here, baby boy, let me spoon feed you and you can ask your mommy if she can whipe your drool:

I have searched the forums over the past week or so. The solutions suggested such as soft reset, hard reset, reinstall activesync, switch USB ports, etc have not done anything. I also came across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370205
which would suggest that I there is an incompatibility. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of which radio version etc I would need to update to in order to update to a WM 6.1 ROM.
edit:yes I have run CID unlock.
Steve
AT&T 1.62.502.0 w/ 1.27.14.09 radio should flash fine on any Tilt even without CID unlock, since it's signed by AT&T. While I'm glad to hear your phone is CID unlocked, it's still strongly suggested that you flash HardSPL & Security Unlock your device.
Regarding your current issue, have you:
* Tried another computer to flash from?
* Entered tri-color bootloader mode on your phone prior to flashing? You can find out how to on the wiki.
Hope this helps!

My error 262 fixed
I don't know if this is the best place to put this, but I didn't want to open a new thread.
I too had been getting repeated error 262. And I spent a couple of hours searching for answers, and while there have been many questions raised on this subject, there have been few clear solutions (and certainly none that worked for me).
I have the HTC branded Kaiser installing from Vista. (By the way I am new to this, but as I had such a hard time working this out, I thought I should at least post what worked for me.) I unlocked the CID with pof's Hard-spl v1 tool. Then (as I want to stay with Mobile 6.1) I upgraded the hard spl to v3.28 by JockyW. I then downloaded a number of Roms I wanted to try. That is where the trouble started.
Each ROM I tried would get past the tri-color screen with no problem. Then it would hang at the 0% until finally showing the error 262. A soft reset would reload my previous rom unchanged. I tried many things: removing all USB's, firewall, virus protection, hard reset, reboot windows, every suggestion I could find (and understand).
While the hard spl I had should have worked, I thought I should try version 3.29. When trying to upgrade to that I had a similar problem with error 260 this time. Looking over spl update instructions I realized I had forgotten to uncheck "disable usb connections" in "Activesync" at the proper stage. Once that was unchecked, the new spl loaded. After that I was able to load the cooked roms with no problem.
It appears there was something wrong with the HardSPL v3.28 I was using or in how I installed it. The tricolor screen was showing 3.28. In any case, after I reinstalled a new hard spl (this time 3.29), I had no more error 262.
A bit long-winded, but hopefully this might help someone else.
i received my T8282 a couple days ago, played around with it a bit as to familiarize myself with the device, and have decided to flash dutty's 2.3 extreme rom. i've followed all the instructions from the wiki, all the on-screen instructions when executing the app (blackstoneruuwrapper.exe) in dutty's zip, and get to the actual update process (progress bar on my comp and the device). the progress bar never moves from 0% on either my comp or device, and i end up receiving the following error:
ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR.
The ROM Update Utiliity has encountered communication errors during the update process. The program will guide you step-by-step to recover from the errors so you can continue with the update.
one thing i've noticed on the device is that before it changes to the three colors and then the progress bar, a gray screen flashes fairly quickly saying, "Loading...No Image File!" and then it flashes back to the three-colored screen...and ultimately goes to the progress bar. is the program just not finding the image/rom source file it needs to update from?
my stock image version is: 1.14.401.3 if that helps any. ANY help would be appreciated, everyone's raving about this cooked rom and i'd love to flash my device. TIA!
You have installed HSPL/running USPL? Try to update through the SD card. Though the 8Gb transcend card won't work.
got it figured out, updating now without a problem.
Hi,
so what was the issue in the end, for those still having this problem?
hi! i have almost the same problem, but it seems that it doesnt even get a connection. and installation stops at 0%.

If you ask the community for help, please also post the sollution if you found it... This way your post can be useful instead of a post without any information...
i had to install the HSPL 1.14.OliNex to get it to work. i tried running another HSPL, but had a problem each time i restarted the device. after installing HSPL 1.14.OliNex, the update worked fine. sorry for not having explained this earlier.

actually, before i flashed the HSPL, i ran the updater and throughout the process, it'd still take me to the tricolor screen before attempting to update. but because i didn't have HSPL, it wouldn't update at all.
please change the title and replace [Q] to [Solved]. flashing without hardspl... lucky!
How about thread closed cause the answer could have been found by searching.
I want to put a new ROM on my fresh ADP. Do I need to put a new radio on before I update to HardSPL?
This thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
seems to suggest I might need to, but this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455860
doesnt mention it.
How can I find out, or is there a simple yes / no ?
Thanks.
If it is hardspl then no you don't need the new radio. If its the new danger spl then yes. But it is a good idea to update your radio anyways.
Thanks.
danger SPL sounds like i might want to leave it alone...
If I was going to update the radio anyway then is the one in the linked noobs guide above the one? Or are there options? Ive had a dig and although its easy to find the SPLs and Roms and other guides, I havent seen much about radios.
flash the radio http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip
without flashing a new radio then bluetooth will not work in then new rom
Thanks for the help everyone. Thats awesome.
er.... is there a way to check if it worked and what radio it's using? It seemed to be so quick I'm not sure if it can have been right?
It only showed the unpacking animation with the open box and the status bar for like a quarter of a second... and then it went back to the triangle with the exclamation mark in it.
I did Home + back to reboot and its loaded up fine all working. But no clue if it did anything...
To check is real easy,
Look under settings> About phone>
It is listed in the Baseband Version. If it ends in 26I you are all good.
Yea its a small file so it won't take long at all to flash. Sounds like it worked.
Thanks guys.
I used the radio marked as most recent:
ota-radio-2_22_19_26I
Baseband version on my phone says:
62.33.20.08H_1.22.12.29
Doesnt end in 26I... Just spotted that radio is shown in fastboot screen and it lists the old one as well.
Odd.
Wierd, It is a small file and shouldn't take long to flash.
You are definitly on the old radio still.
After you update it should tell you to push a key combination to apply the radio.
Turns out my update.zip was called update.zip.zip ... oops. So it hadnt done anything.
Fixed that and the radio update took a few secs and is working fine. Its listed correctly now as you said it would be in the settings / about screen.
Thanks again for the help folks.
No problem. Might want to show extensions on your pc so it don't happen again.
So I've followed the instructions in this thread step by step.
I've used flashboot to put the new radio on but the version doesn't change in the settings. Is there anyone more knowledgeable that could shine more light on this issue.
It's odd because because before I installed the new radio I had trouble with the 720p mod freezing then rebooting the phone. After installing the new radio the issue disappeared but the baseband version hasn't changed. So I'm wondering....do I have the new radio or not?
