Can't find a recently posted guide for developers - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Someone recently posted a guide for development. It got moved and somehow I lost my bookmark. Now, I can't find it after quite a bit of searching.
Basically, it had a list of programs and instructions to compile, sign etc.
Does anyone know where it is?

I'm guessing it was apart of the Wiki, which unfortunately is down atm.
But you can look at the guides here on cmda hero Here for now till they're back up

How can I get started?

Hey all,
I see lots of people making roms for the wizard, but my search for tools to start doing this on my own has come very short. Can anyone suggest how I can get started making my own roms? I have done quite a few exhaustive searches on here, google, and buzzdev with little to no success.. all I've really found are old posts, dead links, and unanswered forum posts.
Please at least point me in the right direction, I have a lot outdated knowledge from when I used to test ppc2k3 devices for Symbol Technologies, and I would like to try the other end of what I was working with... I look forward to your responses and hope someone out there is willing to assist
Thanks!

Awsome, Just after I posted this thread I found that post, I am glad that you were able to confirm that it was a valid one.
Now, as far as testing your roms, do you typically put your devices in harms way, or do you have some kind of emulator that you use to test?
Is there some kind of comprehensive "How to" somewhere on MSDN or some other forum, or did everyone here just blindly poke around till they figured stuff out? (Which I am in favor of doing if necessary)
I just want to make sure that I can get myself as educated as possible without turning my device into a 6.2 ounce paperweight. I love the kinds of contributions people make here and I would love to be able to make my own contributions one day
Thanks (Sorry if im being pesty I am just so interested in getting started)
Don't worry about bricking the phone... as long as you don't flash ipl/spl you can always put the phone back into bootloader mode and reflash a rom that works...
ok so I downloaded a billion tools... but where do I get a base rom to start with? I decided a best bet would be to download the HTC shipped rom off their site, but that uses an NBF file, and all of these tools reference an NBA file, as a matter of fact every "rom" file I have found has an NBF file in it... how does that happen?
I kinda feel stupid and im losing faith in starting this
im have trouble?
I'm having a litte trouble with the posts can sombody help me out?

Overview of ROMs available..

Hi,
in earlier times I was able to find an overview of ROMs available for several models. Actually I am looking for an overview of available ROMs for the Touch Pro 2. Maybe I am dumb, blind or both (must not be confirmed at this time but I can't find this overview anymore. Or is it the Wiki (currently down)?
I am not the expert for this forums here - only looking here from time to time to find some improvements. Didn't update my TP2 before yand the factory installed ROM is in. I know how to change the ROM and so on.. But I think its rather hard to find the right ROM while reading lots of pages instead of having the former overview.. Any ideas how to optimize my search?
Thank you for some input
There is/was some stuff on various official ROMs in the Wiki, but I don't recall anything about the custom/cooked ROMs in there, if that's what you're after.
Ive seen it too and now cannot find it. Ima dig a lil more cuz I know Ive seen it here a few months ago. .... Stevie, Im rather certain they r talkin about there was a list of all the ROMs here. Also had links to each one. Its not in the wiki, its in "ROM development", althouigh Im not exactly sure where its at now, perhaps I can find it and post a link. Good luck!!

Where to start?

I don't want to annoy everyone by bombarding with questions....I just got this thing new out of box and I'm looking to root it. Is there a Beginners sub forum or a Q&A so I can learn before trying to do this? I've been reading many threads but most are past the point where I am and I'm not getting what I need from the Search Function. If you could direct me to a starting point so I can read up it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The quickest patg to get started is to update to 1.01 and then autonooter... many of the early solution threads have been merged into autonooter...
Good luck and always search
Why don't you start at NookDevs?
They have lots of useful and step-by-step instructions on how to do almost everything that can be done on the NookColor, including Rooting and other extras.

[Q] bricked g1

Hi guys just wanted a quick question answered
I was cleaning my room up the other day and i came across my g1 in my cupboard
I bricked my g1 ages and ages ago due to i cannot remember exact it was something like I flashed the radio before the rom or the rom before the radio and it just hangs on a t-mobile screen
I know people where looking for ways to get around this so I was wondering if someone has come to a quick solution to this
thanks
Why are you posting the same again?
To solve your problem: search for JTAG in this forum, the only chance to re-animate a really bricked G1.
someone said wrong section so yea
and the link he gave me didnt help
aaah had a look at that... seems too much trouble
thought by now something better would have been found
anyways thanks for your help
in the Q&A section for G1 there's actually a specific forum for Q&A lol you'll find it jus gotta look around.. someone should be able to help you betterin there if anyone checks anymore..

Looking to try my hand at developing a rom for the cappy

I know its a little late with developing something for this almost dead device but with mine sitting around I figured I'd give it a shot and see what I can do. So can someone recommend to me a good tutorial that I can read up to get started with? Preferably noob friendly and also if possible uses a captivate in the tutorial to help with following along.
Thanks!
no tutorial around you have to have the knowledge to do it.
there are a few tutorials all over xda, android general is some help, but would stick with samsung galaxy forums for more samsung specific info, unless you want to develop ICS roms, then look into Android general for ASOP info.
check out the stickies in each thread.
