Will a Eris Rom work the Hero?

Might sound Stupid but I know the Verizon Eris is Very Similar to our Hero's... with that said, does anyone know if its Possible?

I have a Spare Hero laying around I might Sacrifice it for the Sake or Possibility of adding New Roms for all the XDA Members! Wish Me Good Luck Everyone!! Lol!

they have diiferent kernels, so you would need ours. I've never tried it, but I think you need to unpack the rom and put in our kernel and rezip/sign it. There's probably some other fancy stuff you need to do too, good luck.

Well guys I Did Try It... But Sadly After my Expectations were High, It just Stayed on the HTC Boot Screen!
But it Did Say Installed Successfully So I Still Believe its Possible...
I'd Be Willing to Give it Another Shot, But I can Honestly say I've Tried to Unzip/Rezip a Rom in the Past "But from my Phone"
Next I Resigned it with Signapktic, But must of did Something Wrong because I Kept Getting a Bunch of Force Closes!
If Someone Could maybe Take the Time to Explain the Correct Method to Rezip and use the Signapktic App, Like I said... I'd be Completely Willing to Play the Guinea Pig Role Again!
For the Sake Alone of Expanding the Choice of Roms All the Hero User Have, I Feel it Worth it!!

What else can you do?

I've been with this forum for quite a bit now.
I flashed a lot to try out different roms
But these days I got really bored/tired of flashing. So I was wondering if there is something else that you could do with the captivate?...

I think that's what he is tired of is the same basic rom just themed 47 different ways.
@op, switch to an htc device if variety in roms is what your looking for. Only so much that can be done with the captivate until an aosp build is functional that can be built upon.

So I'm doing well with gingersense and I notice some people still use froyo. So would you all like froyosense weather I compile and modify froyo myself or port it from the desire or evo 4g. Would you all like froyo sense?

chances are that it would work with sprint without any changes needed. worst case you could use an eri.xml file to change the carrier name. all of the sprint roms will work on cellular south. i just wanna see one built from a CS image, and i am sure that there are several others here that would like to see it too.

Are you still helping PMGRANDS froyo rom?
cause its pretyy solid now, minus no gps, Mnetwork fc's and the camera is totally useless. but other than that, its sweet

I helped him a lot before and then I got busy with my own work. But if he needs help I'll be willing to help him here and there when I have free time between my work.

Well i think a 2.2 rom from you would befun. Im running your Gingersense, and its great

but i'm up to the challenge

I cant wait for this . This will be a full ui not just a fully themed like your Gingersense rom .. which i might say is awsome btw

i have never ported a rom and never was interested in it until i thought why not try it
so i'm having trouble with the process but i'm sure xda can help me out

I'll try that after i finish my gingersense and/or froyosense port. I found out why i was having issues porting from the evo or any hdpi device.....you can't
So I'm now trying to port from different devices Hopefully this time all goes well and I have 5 different rom ports I'm going to try
EDIT: Whichever out of the 5 boot I will be releasing Its 1am here but I'm not going to stop working on the ports until 3am

Ill stay up waitn I'd love to test one out I need to flash something new haha
Also ok so I posted before about this but its super important to me is there any way we can somehow fix our heros to put out a infustruction wireless signal so the ps3 can pick it up I do it with my bros evo I rooted hacked ect and well my hero I really wanna b able to connect to psn like I do on my bros evo I mean on 3g cod black ops runs super smooth

Bootanimation Thread Epic 4g

Was wanting to see if we could start a bootanimation Thread that only has bootanimation. So here you go, I personally do not have a boot to post but was hoping this would make things easier for people.

On Gingerbread, you have to rename those files "bootani" or something. (Sanim.zip?) Anyway, I could never get them to work after Froyo.

thank you for you dedicated assistance ... there is a boot animation app in market that can help with changing the boot but is not for everyone and well need to have root access

I would like to start developing roms and apps. How do I get started? I have experience coding in Java and C but I assume Linux is much tougher. Can anyone hook me up with the resources I need? Tutorials? Tips?
