D-Pad does not work - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Greetings,
I have been having issues with my D-pad. It will work just fine until the blacklight shuts off or the phone is suspended. I bring the phone back to "life" and the D-pad will not work. When you push the middle button it brings up the button in the upper left of my screen.
In order to get my d-pad functioning again, I have to perform a softreset. This is getting tiresome...
I have flashed back to a stock rom. It does it on that. I flashed back to my preferred rom.
Does anybody have a clue what is going on or how I can fix it?
Thank you in advance,
Todd

HELP! My BA's button are mess up

Hi experts, I was using ArtZ's Widcomm WM5 rom and radio 1.15 for a week with no problem. I think after I uninstall the HTC SmartDial and problems came up. The Answer(Green Phone Button), Hang up(Red Phone) buttons and D-pad including action button in the center of d-pad are not functioning as they should. When I press answer button in WM5, first start menu, contact and calender all pop-up. The rest of the buttons including D-pad starts different programs. I tried to reflash to Ivan's WM5 rom and downgrade to WM2003, but the buttons still won't function properly. Help, I can't even answer the phone or hang up using buttons.
YEAH! FIXED itself.
I took out the battery and leave it over night while the backup runs out. I put back the main battery and buttons works again. It is nice to map the Answer button to voice activate or something else. Does anyone knows how the change the phone buttons or D-pad to some other functions?

All hardware keys on my Tytn II have stopped responding (including hard keyboard)

Hi,
Just last friday I got my new Tytn II and yesterday I discovered that the Backspace button on my soft keyboard didn't do anything anymore. All other soft buttons where working fine. Then opening the slider key board and trying the back button it didn't work either. Same goes for all (!) keyboard buttons. Then tried the green and red buttons, the tilt wheel and finally all hard buttons on the device. Only the power on/off button works.
The phone can be operated using the stylus. No problems there . I only installed Tom Tom, Remote Desktop and Google Maps. I am thinking of returning the phone to the shop, but my personal data and settings will be gone I think.
It seems like the driver that triggers hard button functions in windows is missing, broken or just plain ignorant. Anybody any ideas on how to troubleshoot and repair this?
Thanks for the trouble.
Cheers,
Donald

OK - obvious things first, this is either going to be a hardware or a software problem. If it's hardware, you need to return it to the shop as it will still be under warranty. If it's software, we'll be able to fix it with a Hard Reset.
Although a Hard Reset will remove all your settings and personal data, it will put the phone back into the state it was when you bought it. Seeing as the keys worked when you bought it, they should go back to working too!
My advice would be firstly to backup everything you need (contacts, e-mails, etc) onto your PC or your Exchange server. Then press and hold both softkeys and press the reset button with the stylus. Keep the softkeys pressed until you see a white screen warning about doing a reset, then release the softkeys. Press the green pickup button to start the reset, then the green button again when prompted to restart the phone. It will take a while to reboot first time, and then it'll go through the same screens it did when you first opened the box. Re-sync all your contacts/e-mails and you're sorted.
If the phone won't respond to the softkeys when you reset, and instead begins a normal reset, then it's definitely hardware. It could simply be a connector that's come loose, but opening the phone up will invalidate your warranty - so in your case, as it's so new, I'd say return it back to the shop and get a working one.
Good luck.
Perform a Hard Reset. That will rule out and correct any software issues. If it works after that it was the software that was messed up. If it doesn't work after that then its more likely a hardware issue and will need to be exchanged.

Where is "the reset buton" that can be pressed with stylus? I have read that on the XDA-Wiki page too, ...but I can't understand what is "the reset buton" (maybe is the power buton ...but I don't need the stylus for press it )

OK for a soft reset there is a small hole to the left of the usb input on your device. Just simply insert the stylus into that hole and push
For a hard reset hold down both soft keys (first softkey to the right of the green button and the second soft key to the left of the "end" button or red button). At the same time insert the stylus into that little hole and give it a gentle push.
If you actually read wiki there would be a nice diagram there for you.
Oh ...I understand now ... Thank you!
This has happened to me twice. I'm not sure what led to it and I've not been able to reproduce it. I think it's a driver issue. A soft reset fixes it.

Kaiser II / AT&T Tilt problem

Hi. I am a new owner of the AT&T Tilt, so I was messing around with a few cool new features. I installed the HTC Home Plugin and the HTC Default Theme, which looked really nice. After I installed these, things began going crazy. When I had them installed, the screen would not turn back on after going blank, so I would have to remove the battery and then reboot it again. When it loaded back up, I tried to manually power it off via the power button on the side. INstead of powering off, it would freeze. Sucks, I know...
So I finally decided to remove both the plugin and the default screen, as I figured it would send things back to normal. It didn't. When it was all removed, I tried to slide the phone open, but the screen did not automatically switch to landscape view. So I tried to power it off, and it acted as if it was continually loading something and refused to turn off.
This is very furstrating... Do any of you all know what to do?
Thanks.

Try a soft reset and if that doesn't work, back up any data you don't want to lose and then try a hard reset. This will bring you back to factory settings but you lose all your data and added programs.
I have both those things on my Tilt and have not had that happen. Any other third party software it could be reacting with?
Not that I know of. I installed TomTom6 on there, but I had that for several hours prior to putting the two other programs on there and it worked just fine. Is there a way to do a hard reset before the phone turns on fully? Because once it turns on, I am very limited as to what I can do...
Yes.
Put your stylus into the reset hole (just above and to the right of the USB port) and hold both soft keys at the same time (next to the green and red phone buttons).
Hm.. Strange thing happened. I simply held the two soft keys at start up and it seems to have reset the whole thing. Did I do this correctly or should I redo it?

hmm i don't think so you did a hard reset than buddy. Hard reset is holding the two soft keys and than inserting stylus into soft reset hole on bottom of phone. Doing this brings you to a white screen with a warning in blue that basically tells you all data will be erased to proceed hit the send button .. and once you hit send (green button) than it starts the hard reset and once it finishes it asks you to hit the send button again to reboot the phone.
Yeah. STrangely enough, it didn't warn me of any of that. It simply took a while to boot up from the AT&T screen and when it did, all of the stuff that I had installed was gone...
Another question..
Okay, so after about seven attempts, I finally got the hard reset to work properly. Now that everything is back to it's manufacture settings, I would like to update the plain jane look of it. I know this may sound utterly stupid, but can anyone tell me exactly how to install the HTC Plugin along with the HTC Default theme and Customizer? (If links can be provided as to the correct download site, it would be greatly appreciated as well.)
The last time I thought I installed these correctly, my phone went crazy...
Thanks guys.
P.S. TomTom 6 would not have an affect on my phone.. would it?
Thanks again!
no tomtom6 will not affect your phone, I have used it for months with HTC home plugin, didn't have an issue with my tilt. I hope that helps. I don't quite understand what you want to do with the customizer maybe someone else can help ya with that.
Good luck on your new phone.

Go here, down load HTC Home plugin and Home Customizer again.
Remember to soft reset after installing (no soft keys just stylus in the reset hole) Go to start>settings>today>items, check HTC Home. And you should be good to go.
If not , now you know how to hard reset and start again.

Alright! Thanks a lot!
I'll keep you informed as to how it goes! Thanks again!
Ah! Thanks! It works flawlessly now!
Juuust kidding...
I don't know what it is, but it worked just fine for a while.
Now, whenever I tap the power button on the side to turn the screen off, I can not get it to turn back on.
Why?

HTC Diamond hardware button problem

I have a strange problem, the call button and the home button work perfectly, also the arrow up, down and left do their job,
but if i press the back button, end call or right arrow button (i need to press really hard to get some sort of respone) all of them work as the back button, no matter where i click on the right side of the navi board.
when i try to call somebody, the end call button works only if i press it about 2 seconds after the call button, but once the call is conected it won't work, neither when i hold it, it's just not working, and the right arrow button i need to press about 50 times to move right, and then another 50 times...
i tried to reflash another ROM, but the problem still remains
did anyone have a similar problem?
Is this this a software of hardware problem?
Did anyone manage to solve this problem?

To exclude, that this is a software problem do the following:
1. shut down the phone
2. take the battery out for a few seconds and insert it again
3. flash the original latest version of your provider rom (if it's a xda diamond, then flash the latest O2 rom, and so on if it's orange, t-mobile, vodafone ...)
4. after you setup the rom, make a hard reset
5. now have a look; does the issue persist? If yes, then it's shurely a hardware problem

Unresponsive back button HTC GPE

Hi all
I have a stock HTC GPE 4.4.4, with stock recovery, no SU. Phone works fine except for a random problem which has only just started with the phone. When i unlock the phone, the back button doesnt work at all - even if i leave it for a few seconds or more. But, if i tap the home button, the back button will then start to work. I thought initially it may have been the screen lock which i recently put on so i turned that off - no cigar. Im stumped as to why its happening just! Im hoping the official GPE update will fix it but not sure...
Thanks
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds to me like the capacitive buttons are starting to go bad on your phone. If you think it's the software, back everything up and do a factory reset and see if that resolves the issue. Also, I'm curious, does the back button work in recovery?
Yep works fine in recovery. In fact, its working again right now. It only ever happens when the phone has been locked for a period of time. Once unlocked, it occasionally doesnt work unless i hit the home button. Also, the search bar in chrome fails to bring up the keyboard as well.
Im pretty sure its software related though. Just wondered of anyone here had same issue
