Seems like a great idea to me. I have / love Sprint presently, have had Tmobile in the past and they are my second favorite carrier.
I read that TMobile may go down next year

I've always thought Verizon would swallow Sprint, but I think they wouldn't allow it because Verizon would become a freakin giant.
While I love Tmobile + Sprint, I wonder if it would be the straw that breaks the Camel's back at Sprint. We all know how the Sprint + Nextel thing went... And I doubt Deutsche Telekom would really want to divest... But it does seem that Sprint and Tmobile are in a bad position. I dunno, should be interesting.

If you check the headlines they have been bleeding badly. T-mobile I haven't heard much about though.
sent from my telepathic neurotransmitter.
Would that be possible considering -Mobile is GSM and Sprint CDMA?
Nextel used IDEN, neither GSM OR CDMA. So my answer would be, it wouldn't matter.
(I'm from the UK, so not much real input.. but...)
Much the same as what is happening/happened with the OrangeUK and T-Mobile UK Merger here to make one big parent company, although they are operating still as 2 brands of the parent. Should be fine.

No. CDMA=no SIM. and if it is a CDMA world phone I doubt people will be able to hack the SIM slot and unlock it. And even if they did it is not equiped with a T-mo US 3G radio.

That's an ugly cheap toy. Sorry had to say it. T-mobile needs to step up the game again. They missed out on the great Hero. Hopefully they get the "Dragon" first.

There IS a GSM Droid coming though for Telus Mobility in Canada which is switching over to HSDPA along with Bell. CDMA is getting phased out in Canada.

Yep, CDMA RIP (include the USA as well)! Such a waste of "space"
Yeah, with LTE (4G), the whole world should be following a unified standard hopefully on not more than two frequencies.
Oh, I hope they use more than two frequencies otherwise there will be too much interference
Very interested in the Motorola Droid.
Questions about Android...
Can you get real time push hotmail?
Is there a wifi router app?
Is there a logmein app?
Is there an orb app (or able to stream from orb site)?
Thanks in advance...

I doubt you'll have an interference problem, being that the rest of the world has the same standard it's only the states now that don't use one standard (we have to always be different). I'm on the bandwagon with CDMA being phased out, even if it is better tech (I don't agree with that statement I'm just saying....) with the rest of the world on GSM it's hard to come out with a good phone that will support either or both.

Try googleing for Android forums. I'm sure they are out there.
I too am slightly concerned about that. We'll need to get to work on rooting the thing as soon as possible. Has anyone started digging into the thing who has a review unit?
We certainly need to find a central location to collaborate.
I want an HD7 and wondered if any XDA-member could purchase one from o2 and i would pay them through PayPal and they could ship me the phone. I am in the US and on AT&T
Why don't you just go down to Walmart? They have them there already. Besides you'r on ATT and will get no 3g I thought with one from O2? I believe you need one from Telstra (Australian) network and your 3g will work.

I see the rebel sim cards are being developed for wp7 so perhaps 3g is still in the game if i get a tmobile version. I s being on edge versus 3g really that big of a difference anyway?
oh yeah, it's like swimming in tar lol (edge).
Isn't the phone Quad Band? Surely the device will work on all of the GSM networks?
I hope it's that or it's going to be quite a mission finding the right device to work on the right networks int the right countries.
in the u.s., the only 2 big gsm carriers (at$t, t-mo) operate on different bands. the rest of the world is ok lol, the telstra(sp) operates on at$t w/ 3g, any one else on t-mo gets edge.

Getting my GF a tablet and have kinda ruled out the Ipad because we both don't like Apple and iTunes. I;m experienced with Android and thats what I want to get her. I bought the NookColor and rooted it and all that, but it's going back. It's just not a viable solution for someone not too technical and wants to just pick something up and use it. Mainly because of the lacking hard buttons and no 3g is really the deal breaker now. The gTab seems perfect because of 3g and simple to use. I thought they were all the same until I started reading and it seems as if Tmobile is a bad idea unless you want unlimited data without a contract. So let me get to the needs: minimal data on a month to month plan. I prefer to pay out front and not be under contract. So which carriers Gtab is for her? Or should I wait for something else? BTW I don't like playing the waiting game because you just end up waiting and waiting. She's perfectly fine using a device for years where as I need the latest, greatest.
Thanks in advance.
http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2010/11/17/want-to-buy-a-samsung-galaxy-tab-heres-what-you-need-to-know/
I guess any of ATT or tmobile will be good. Because if u want to resale it (after few month ) you can unlock it and sell it on nice price and also gsm is acceptable in other countries too. can be used to make calls and receive calls too(dont know about sprint and verizon cdma tabs).
I guess tmobile plans are cheaper than att.
I have tmobile but i dont have data plan because i dont need it. I bought my on local craiglist.
For light no contract 3G, I think AT&T is the cheapest easy option at $15/mo.
The AT&T GT also has the "option" of easy unlocking, then getting a Tmo prepaid SIM and using Tmo's DayPass for $1.50/day, EDGE only, but for very light, day by day, its a cheap alternative.
NB you cannot do that with a Tmo GT since Tmo has blocked its own GT's from using the prepaid DayPass.
Another fringe idea is Sprint's GT, hacked to run on Boost Mobile, $0.35/day for data, but far more complicated to do the hacking.
Do not get the Verizon tab under any circumstances.
At&t will let you have the complete tab and phone experience. And it travels overseas better.
While I have and love the AT&T Tab, I'll throw a wrench in here and say that Spacemoose is going to bat for the CDMA Tabs with HC! I'd give the edge to GSM, but not a big deal as I use mine with Wi-Fi only.

The unlocked gsm would probably be for at&t. It may have something to do with it being illegal to unlock carrier locked phones now. That's just a shot in the dark though.

Thats is a plausible theory. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Someone with a phone locked and has just finished their 2 year agreement with AT&T is now unable to use straight talk service. Their could be numerous reasons why ST is no longer selling AT&T sim cards. It could be because they dont want to or something as simple as they are all out, who knows. Hopefully some news will come to light. The biggest question that comes to mind for me is what is going to happen to those of us who are using AT&T on ST? T-mobile is terrible where I live, i only get edge service and the coverage is even worse. AT&T is the way to go in Vermont.

Exactly man. Right there with you.
It is most probably that tmobile now offers compatibility with 1900, give mvno better bang for the buck, and most importantly offer "unlimited" data without hidden random throttling like ATT does.. Thus coinciding with their offerings..
I think it's simple. AT&T probably got too expensive for them.
well thats unfortunate. It makes me nervous because im using ATT on straight talk so whats stopping ST from canceling my service!
I doubt they'll cancel their current AT&T customers (yet) - they'd lose too many of them. Over the next year or so they'll probably slowly force people to switch or leave, though. Who knows.

I don't think that frequency band uses ATT HSPA network.
doesn't the unlocked gsm also say global phone?
that would be AT&T, T-mobile hasn't re-farmed 1900 everywhere yet so it should be the same as the at&t option and less confusion for most consumers that have no clue
From a little Google in what I found makes me think unlocked gsm encompasses both. At&t is 850/1900mhz and Tmob is 1700/2100mhz. Unlocked gsm is 850/1700.

That does seem odd that it is gone. I'm glad I have the AT&T sim now. T-Mobile is much faster, but I get better coverage with AT&T. Hopefully this is just a tempoary thing. I'm not sure if there is anyone else that is a MNVO for AT&T. Most I've seen are tmo only.

I am willing to bet the gsm unlocked sim will yield a tmo sim now instead of att.
A tmo sim would now offer more compatability with most gsm phones.
Unlocked gsm sim only guaranteed voice and text, you got Edge for data, no 3G+ data compatibility.

I just called straight talk. They said they they are just out of stock on the att cards. He assured me they will be in stock 'within a couple of weeks'. We'll see. My VZW contract is up in march so I won't be switching for a while and can wait, but was disappointed when I jumped on the nexus 4 today and then couldn't get a sim. Worst case I'll get the t-mobile one and cut it and if I don't like the service jump to another pre-paid that uses att.

If your going T-Mo in the meantime just get the $30 plan direct from T-Mobile then switch to the ST AT&T when you drop Verizon. I don't believe the T-Mo plan on ST even has micro sim cards, you have to cut one of the standard ones down. With the T-mobile $30 plan you can order the micro sim activation kit directly from their website. I tired T-Mo out first and the reception sucked so I switched to ST AT&T two weeks later and then dropped Verizon once I saw I had good reception.
So I have been searching to see if all available T-Mobile bands are open and ready on the moto x for tmobile if I moto Make an AT&T version and then unlock?
I do not want edge so if HSPA and LTE are available then I am leaning towards this route. Anyone know for sure?

If you customize through MotoMaker right now and buy the AT&T version off-contract, then you will default to T-Mobile Edge speeds wherever they haven't yet refarmed to the 1900MHz band, which their 4G (and also the same band AT&T uses). It doesn't have the 1700MHz band that T-mobile uses in conjunction with the 2100MHz band to deliver HSPA+ speeds wherever the refarm hasn't happened (which is a LOT of places as of right now). Save yourself the frustration and just buy the T-Mobile version from Motorola's website, which has support for T-Mobile Edge, HSPA+, and 4G. All your bases will be covered at that point. Plus it works on AT&T as well, so thats an added benefit.

I've got an unlocked AT&T MotoX on T-Mobile in Chicago, luckily the area downtown and surrounding the city are re-farmed 1900mhz or 4G LTE; guess I'm lucky so far because I haven't had really bad frustration dropping to edge.
