ROM tutorial

Just wondering if anyone has made or would make a sort of tutorial about howto upgrade rom, make new rom, customize rom etc. preferable with pictures'n'stuff

Excellent idea jpless.
Does anyone with some experience can do that?
I have a new HTC P3600 Black, at 2 days

I'd like that too, the problem is that there's too much info about this on the forum, some of that info is outdated, valid only for a specific device, and sometimes valid for a couple of devices but posted on a specific device forum( hermes ).
Since we would really like to do this but fear bricking our devices, I think it would help if a known, trustworthy and experienced member had the time and will to start the creation of a centralized source of info about this topic, like one big wiki page divided by main steps and device-specific tools/methods which would later be improved by other users( wiki ).
Who knows, maybe there's someone who just needs a nudge to create something useful to the community.

I really hope someone will do, cause I wanna learn it the easy way

Helped needed for themes on HTC Fuze

hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with adding themes to my fuze everything uploaded fine and theme is, for the most part working. Theres just one issue the top menu and bottom menu are still the same WM theme I had before I upload the new ones. I just don't know how I can fix it. I'm hoping someone on this forum would be apple to help. Thanks so much.

Ummmmm... maybe you wanna try the Fuze forum. This forum is for the Htc dream. The dream runs android for the OS, many users in this forum have little or no experience with windows mobile.

.......and some of us abore microsoft.

THis forum format is confusing.. .TOO MANY ROMS .. Can I get a ROM breakdown

I remember when they switched to this forum format and people were supposed to say what ROM and what Hardware their themes are for...
Well it didn't quite work out that way.. people post the ROM but not the hardware...
Early it was fine .. everyone knew that Cyanogen 4 was G1 MT3G ROM
but with all these new ROMS .. I don't know which one works for the Hero/Droid ERIs NExus one etc...
So can someone give me a breakdown of the ROMS and tell me which one works for what hardware??

Actually this section is for 1st gen devices(G1/MT3G), these themes wont work on other devices with diff res.You need to goto the actual phone section and look at the theme section there, sorry but that's how it is.

Well that's not how it's supposed to be. If this section was for 1st gen devices, it wouldn't be labeled with the generic, "Android Themes", would it? The section you are thinking of is the Themes sub-forum under the G1/Dream Head forum.

Exactly .. why would this forum be for 1st gen devices.. when the devices already have their own forum??
This is a mess... I'm sorry .. I hope the XDA guys clarify the forum format..

We're trying to figure out a resolution. Perhaps we just need to rename this forum to make it clear the the themes are for first generation devices that have HVGA screens. I'll report back after I speak to some mods!

That's great but it still seems like everything is dedicated to G1 and Mytouch 3g aka HTC Magic

This forum is fairly redundant, since most D/S roms support the same themes, but when it started that wasn't really the case and many people were confused as to which themes worked with which roms.
The thing is, now most roms work on both Dream and Sapphire so the logical thing would be to have the Sapphire Themes forum redirect to the Dream Themes forum, and migrate the Android Themes forum to Dream Themes.
Of course the generic Android Themes/Software forum was created before we were sure of how compatible existing (D/S) themes would be with Eris and Hero devices, let alone an N1, etc.
ANYWAYS, until the forums are adjusted, if you have a Dream or Sapphire device, you're in the right place. If you have anything else (Nexus One, Eris, Hero, etc.), go to the respective forums of that particular device.

Although I don't have a "win", I would also not advise going under my wing either!
Just read lots on these forums...it is very straight forward, and people have spent loads of time writing up guides, so they get a little "touchy" when people ask the same questions over and over (and I am sure you can appreciate that!).
The main fork in the road for you is to get to know your device so that you can understand what you want to update/tweak/change.

If you want to learn what additions can be made to your unit, then go to the "HD Themes and Apps" link
If you want to learn how to flash a new or "cooked" ROM, then click on the "Rom Development" link. You have WM 6.1...but many of the "chefs" "cook" fabulous ROMS, generally on the newer WM 6.5 OS.
If you click on the "WIKI" tab at the top of the forum, there is a whole heap of information about "How to do's" etc.
Just read lots...it takes time, but you will get used to it. Be nice and appreciative of the chefs as they do heaps for all of us, and a donation to your favorite chef helps them continue producing for us all!

Finding themes that work on my phone

I have many phones in my family. I have been able to find theming for all but one of them. I hope someone can point me in the right direction, for something that will fit its form-factor. It's an HTC ARIA
