How to turn off audio voice - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Somehow, my nexus one started talking to me. When I put the phone into sleep, it says "screen off" when I wake it, it says screen on. If I go to settings, it says "settings " Does anyone know how to shut this off?

Thank you very much britoso, problem solved. I intuitively looked in the voice output menu.
Hi google, it doesn't make sense for the voice output feature to be located in the voice output settings menu now does it.

Question for those who own a galaxy mini with cm7

Would you mind telling me if your mini vibrate when you receive an sms?
Thank you

I own a Dart (T499) US version, but mine wasn't vibrating either even though I have it set too... the fix for me was to go under the settings for my sms program and tell it that I always want it to vib (mine was defaulted to never) see if that helps maybe.
Ty lord...i didnt even know that exist those settings

Tested.
Handy isn't vibrating even with vibrate always set on.
check both the "global setting for sound and notifications" and then also check the SMS settings, that's the only thing I can think of what it might be unless something is wrong with the handset?
it even depends on your messaging app
if you use a third party msging app, then you have its own settings
otherwise, your profile, if anyother application being used for profiles, global settings would do it
jus explore the device, you'll find it

(Q) ANY Jawbone Owners?

I just picked up an era and the only thing I don't like about it is the long press of the function button brings up voice dial, but the native program it opens is svoice. At first I thought that would be ideal, but it take literally 5 seconds before I can speak a name. I would much rather have the function button open gnow.
How do I change this?

I have both the Jawbone Era and Big Jambox. Unfortunately, I never set up any voice dialing. Maybe it's something you can change if you connect the Era to the PC and open it up in MyTalk.
I know if you delete s voice then Google voice search comes up instead, does work better than s voice, just no voice texting feature

Ok now I have a new issue. The era will connect to phone, then to media, then instantly disconnects from media. I was playing music all day without issue, but now I can't get it to connect to media.
And no, I don't have cpu access currently so I can't connect it and check the my talk settings.
Any ideas?

I tried this but when I hit the push to talk button it just freezes and then shuts down?

I found an app called bluetooth launch from the play store (free) that allows me to assign any function I want to the smart button. I was able to assign google voice search but it's still clumsy. I think I'm gonna give svoice another shot, but the issue I have is that whenever I hit the button it takes like 7 seconds before it listens for my command.

[Q] Stopping Google search on hardware button

Is there a way to turn off the Google search when you press a hardkey? I find my thumb hovering over the hard key and then it will just come up. Is there any way to turn it off?

Well i have turned Google Now off, so the only thing that comes up is the search box that would have been google now window. I am asking where i would go to do that, i have searched all over the place in the menus and settings and can't seem to see where to turn it off at.
Go to Settings, search for apps icon , then select all apps. Find google search from that list and stop service and delete it.

Screen on messaging mod

Does anyone know which part of the apk needs to be changed to enable it?

That's one of the things that annoyed me about other phones with no option to turn that off. I used to install an app like sms popup that has an option to turn the screen on when I got a text. Id just set it up so I didn't get a popup and uncheck the option to turn on the screen when I got a text. It worked well for that, and kept the screen off when I got a message. Maybe it will work the other way for you if that's an option. I know nothing about editing apks but thought id at least offer a possible work around.

How to fix the incoming call bug?

Guys,
Cant answer any incoming call, no screen to answer show up.
Anyway fix this bug?
Lollipop 5.01
Nexus 6. Stock, this phone is not rooted.
This phone came directly from Motorola and they were sent directly from China I believe.
So these ones are not from any T-Mobile, att or any other carrier local store. I believe that sprint have this issue.

Problem solved, as last resource I had to do a factory reset. It fixed the problem.

The heads up notification is in the SDK and has to be disabled/enabled by the developer (in this case Google for the Phone app). There is currently no option to turn the heads up notifications on/off anywhere in settings or the Phone settings. You could try a factory reset on the phone, and see if that fixes it.
If you are rooted, I would not factory reset. I would get the phone app from XDA, remove it from the phone, and install it as a system app and see if that fixes it.
Otherwise, the only possible way I know of is through a custom ROM (you would need to be rooted). I know for a fact that Pure ROM has a setting to turn heads up notifications on/off, don't know if any others have the option.
I'm on Sprint, so I had to do the "Settings - > More - > Cellular Networks - > Preferred Network Type " and switch to 3G. It's a pain, but this is the only fix that works for me / until Sprint fixes the network CFSB issue.

This issue of incoming call screen not opening just started a few days ago for me. I've tried every possible fix I can think of, even doing a factory reset as a last resort, but the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Update to the latest version of Android using an OTA image from Google's pages.
