I just picked up an era and the only thing I don't like about it is the long press of the function button brings up voice dial, but the native program it opens is svoice. At first I thought that would be ideal, but it take literally 5 seconds before I can speak a name. I would much rather have the function button open gnow.
How do I change this?

I have both the Jawbone Era and Big Jambox. Unfortunately, I never set up any voice dialing. Maybe it's something you can change if you connect the Era to the PC and open it up in MyTalk.
I know if you delete s voice then Google voice search comes up instead, does work better than s voice, just no voice texting feature

Ok now I have a new issue. The era will connect to phone, then to media, then instantly disconnects from media. I was playing music all day without issue, but now I can't get it to connect to media.
And no, I don't have cpu access currently so I can't connect it and check the my talk settings.
Any ideas?

I tried this but when I hit the push to talk button it just freezes and then shuts down?

I found an app called bluetooth launch from the play store (free) that allows me to assign any function I want to the smart button. I was able to assign google voice search but it's still clumsy. I think I'm gonna give svoice another shot, but the issue I have is that whenever I hit the button it takes like 7 seconds before it listens for my command.

I am rooted and using Cubed's ROM. The stock voice dialer has a hard time with my voice. Google's voice search seems to no issues with it. Can I replace the stock with Google's?

Not really, I have that already. I meant via bluetooth. My earpiece supports voice dialing and the stock app doesn't really work for me.

blutooth launch lets you do this download install, then open scroll to voice search and select the recognition box. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836243
Hi. When I long press the Bluetooth headset button the Samsung voice talk is always activated instead of my desired voice dial application. Is there and way to disable Samsung voice talk permanently without rooting my phone?
Same here, could anyone help?

I would like to know how to disable this as well.
1. Is there a way to assign a custom ringtone to all calendar events?
2. Is there a feature or setting somewhere for it to light up or flash a light if you have a missed call or message? I badly miss this option coming from Nokia fones. If I have a missed call or text, the only way I find is if unlock the phone screen.
Thanks for your help.
anyone?
Are you on the stock firmware?
As for notifications theres an app called noled in the play store, give it a try. You can set it up for any notification you want.

You can try the "quick profiles" app frpm play store.

I use "NoLed" from Google Play store. It works very well. It can be set for times for it to turn on and off or you can put it on your homescreen and turn it on when you want it. I haven't noticed it affect battery life.

To avoid making another thread....
When you compose a message...is there a way to send the message without having to wait for Svoice asking me to confirm with a yes ??

i did that... not sure what i did, but the new voice just started working. thanks!
This wont work for me!
I learned how you can download and install high-quality voices in the "Language and Input > Text to Speech" settings of the phone.
I downloaded and installed the High Quality US voice, applied. Nothing. Still robotic voice in S-Voice and Google Maps etc.
I downloaded and installed the High Quality UK voice. applied. Nothing. Still robotic voice in S-Voice and Google Maps etc.
Its weird because in the "Listen to Example" in the Text-To-Speech options it works great, I can hear the new voice.
Elsewhere its no-go. Robotic voice still exists everywhere.
Try clearing tts cache, closing tts settings in task manager, or rebooting.

Bear with me I wanted to also do this upgrade but I could not figure out what Samsung Store you were speaking of to do the search for the female high quality voices. I went to Samsung.com and there was nothing as well as went to the Samsung App store on the Gear Manager and did a search and there was nothing. Can you please be more exacting as to where i can find the female high quality voices download.
Thanks
if you search for " tts voices" you should find it in the Samsung app store

Thanks Xand:
I went to the Samsung App Store on the computer and found the TTS Voices application. But it asked to download to device which did me know good on the computer. Are you guys using internet on the watch itself and then hitting download to device. If not how are you getting the download and then placing it on the watch. Like I said I actually found the app on the computer I just cannot figure out how to download it and then get it on the watch itself.

I am missing something because I went to the Galaxy Gear Manager on my phone and then went to the Samsung App Store as you suggested. I then did a search for " tts voices" as instructed and nothing came up. I will go to Samsung.com and do the same search. Perhaps that is where I should be

It's not in the gear manager app store. Open the 'Samsung Apps' app

On your phone go to settings> language and input> text-to-speech-options. Hit the radio button for Samsung text to speech engine. Then hit the gear icon next to it. Once that opens hit the down arrow to download the voice you want. If the Samsung app store doesn't open you may have to download that. ( http://content.samsung.com/mobile/us/contents/aboutn/appsMobileIntro.do) I did cause I didn't like s-suggest
You don't have to put anything on the watch itself. Once installed on the phone the watch "uses" that.

Thanks f being so kind and providing me the step by step instructions on how to do this mod. I was really at a loss and getting quite frustrated. Again, thanks for your patience and guidance.
Can you adb and than change default to Google now

So what kind of tasks are you guys setting up on your gear ?
Just curious what people have come up with as I am looking for ideas...
Thanks
So far only internet on/off
Others have remotevoice working and shake to launch
Also can just trigger tasks
Next mine will be displaying notification counts on my watch
I just have it on the phone and Gear to enable BT tethering for 5 minutes every hour. That allows my calendar to stay in sync. I have a calendar widget in the home screen of my Gear.
Sent from my SM-N900 using xda app-developers app
I have mine set to fetch webcam shots of a few watering holes at different safari national parks (so far seen lion, elephants etc) but you can choose any live stream webcam
Also set it up with Joao apps AutoRemote, Auto contacts etc and can shake to voice call any contact by spoken name
Using EventGhost to get and send notifications and remote control my PC and other android devices
Can instantly share files in both directions with PC, other Android devices and Gear

That tasker app is sum10 serious, I keep hearing about it. I downloaded it but it seems too complicated

I'm going to start a thread requesting people who are using tasker on the gear post the profiles they use on their gear to help those of us less familiar with the app to get rolling.
