Spare Parts question - Droid Eris Themes and Apps

When I go to spare parts it says "Fancy rotation animation"
when it's checked is it on or off? IT's sorta confusing lol I'm not sure how to check if it's on or off, same thing with fancy input animations.

Not sure about your first question as I don't seem to have that option in my spare parts app for kaosfroyo, but for the fancy input animations - it is "normal" when it is unchecked, but when you check it then it says "fancier" animations.

Any way to have more fine grained control over animations?

Inside the Sound & display settings menu is section to turned down the animations used throughout the system. I find that turning them all of really makes the phone feel snappy, but it comes at the cost of some of the nice animated transitions between screens and apps. The settings allow three different options: completely off, some animations, or all animations turned on.
What I really want is all of the animations, except for the opening application one. This is the animation that occurs when you launch an application from one of the home screens or the launcher and it looks like the application window grows out from the center of the screen until it fills the entire screen. I think this one looks bad, especially when you have a bright colored background and when it is turned off applications feel like they open much quicker. Selecting 'some animations' from the settings will turn this one off, but it also disables the sliding transition that occurs when traversing through menus and pages in an app, which I actually really like.
So does anyone know of a way to disable animation one at a time?
I normally just set the animations to fast from the 'spare parts' application that is in most roms.

I tried that but it's still not ideal. I guess it can't be done at this point...

[Q] Changing Image of Captivate Lockscreen

There is a setting for changing lock screen image under Settings > Display > Wallpapers > Lock screen wallpaper > Gallery... after saving the image, it doesn't seem to work (lock screen wallpaper is still my home screen wall paper)
I've read a lot of posts that points to the direction of using market apps such as lock bot and what not, but can't I use this way to set my lock screen wallpaper?
Running Perception 10.3, can't post it in that thread because I have below 10 post.
p/s: I've searched before I post, saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735849 but it's kind of old and I don't think I want to revive it.
seems to only work if you are using glass unlock..
Thanks so much for the information, then I guess I'll check out other apps or just settle without changing it.

[Q] Paragon RC6 window animation

I recently upgraded from Paragon RC5 to RC6 and noticed that even though when I turn off the window animation, on certain menus (usually in the settings area), the window still animates when switching windows. The transition is super fast (have to be looking at the middle of the screen to see it since it's so fast) and no matter what I try I can't fully disable the window animation. I tried doing it from the display settings and spare parts menu but no luck. I tried reading through the Paragon thread but couldn't find any similar problems. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
From what I found you need to Freeze/Uninstall Spare Parts and then turn off Animations in the Display menu.

[Q] Missing/sped up Sense Launcher Animations?

In the last day or two, I've noticed that my Sense Launcher animations are abbreviated or non-existent. System animations are fine, but the Sense animations seem turned off entirely. The Developer Options setting for Animations doesn't make a difference, either.
Some of the animations I've noticed this for:
Opening the app drawer
Unlocking the phone
Adding widgets
Did I accidentally flip a switch somewhere? I'm still running stock everything.
So...I fixed this. Somehow. Still not sure what happened or what fixed it, but I did the following:
Installed Nova Launcher
Realized the app drawer animation still wasn't playing
Enabled Animations in Developer Options
Shut down the phone completely
Turned the phone back on
Everything was groovypants again
No idea what happened, but at least it's better now. :good:
Okay, just one more post. It looks like the Developer Options Animations setting is the key, but it doesn't fully-stick until after a reboot - though maybe it's not the actual reboot that's causing it, but rather the re-starting of the launcher.
Anyway, that's a whole lot of talking to myself, but I figured if I answered my own question it might help someone in the future.

Kill the Always On Display

How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

It's probably because you went around disabling apps. Enable the Pixel ambient Services.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.

Lockscreen customize
Since we're on the lockscreen topic, is there a way to add the camera icon back on the lock screen?
