Cannot Connect to Camera, Cyanogenmod 6.0 rc1 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was using my phone today, and my camera worked just fine, i took a couple pictures with it. then later on in the day, the camera app didnt work, as i clicked the app it would just make the screen black, and would take a little while to boot up the home screen if i pressed home. after a while it would as me to force close, and it would say that it couldnt connect to the camera.
Please help, Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Flashed wildmonks 2.6.35 kernels (considered a work-in-progress, personally tested on cm6 RC1 and Nightly) it worked but then the problem arrived, i restored my nandroid backup i had done prior to flashing the kernel, and the camera still doesnt work.

I had this exact same problem and had to send my n1 back to htc for hardware failure. A bunch of threads like this in the offical nexus one forums at google too.
Too bad your boot loaders unlocked. i sent mine back stock.

darn so its a hardware failure? is there any way to be sure?

What sort of set up are you running there?
Stock, non-rooted N1? Or did you upgrade to FroYo over an existing install using Paul's zip? Any applications installed? When is the phone freezing?
Would love to help, but I think we're going to need a little bit more information from you first.

Previously rooted N1 back to stock rom prior installing froyo from Paul's direct install file for rooted N1 because I lacked stock recovery image.
Basic apps installed like ebuddy news apps etc. didn't install anything different from old install.
Like I mentioned phone stalls in while in sleep mode. Need to pull battery. Cannot soft or hard reset phone.
Ive been reading a lot on xda and didnt notice this occurring in pther phones thats y i decided to open a new thread.
Any help is appreciated thanks!

Did you wipe? If not, usually a wipe helps. I wiped and have not had a single issue of FC...Freezing or anything. I went from Enom to Wipe to Paul's Zip with Radio.
I have the same problem. Until now the screen stayed black after the other party ended the call. Had to pull battery 3 times.
Problem exists even after reflashing, wiping and clearing storage.
Im om pre-rooted frf50 from paul. Gonna try with an older radio..

does it work?
Im having similar issues with my 2.2 installation. I have it installed on my wife's non-rooted N1.
Not just that but the market is not even usable. Even if I clear cache.
Again, her phone is not rooted, I wipped everything from her phone then applied Froyo and its been a nightmare. Her phone isn't even stable enough to use and I cant seem to figure it out.
I need to find a way back to 2.1 without having to root her phone. She is adamant about me not doing that to her phone even though Ive rooted all the phones I've ever used with no issues.
I was having the same problem on my N1. Started suddenly two days after the manual upgrade to 2.2. The phone would either freeze to a black screen or sometimes the live wallpaper would continue but the phone was unresponsive even to the power button. Needed to pull the battery to restart.
It stopped after I:
* Turned off live wallpaper
* Uninstalled LauncherPro Beta
* Removed the Pure Calender Widget (was broken after 2.2 update anyway)
* Charged the battery (was down to below 10% when it started happening repeatedly).
Anyone one of them (or none of them) could have been the culprit. My guess it was one of the last two (PureCalender or battery) but haven't had time to troubleshoot it. Try some of these and see if it helps.
Ive tried all that on her phone. I just wiped it again completely and re flashed just in case that was the issue. Phone still had all the issues described in this thread.
I wiped the sd card, wiped all previous system files via the stock recovery and re flashed the update zip. You cant get anymore clean than that and its still so unstable the phone its unusable. I have to either hope soft booting works or pull the battery as a last ditch.
Is there any way I could downgrade her phone to 2.1 without rooting? I tried the shipping rom in the sticky above but it seems that isn't totally legit for stock use because the phone doesn't like how its signed.
I guess I could call google/htc tomorrow but who knows where that'll get me. The only bonus iud that her phone is not rooted so she didn't really have her warranty voided.

I was worried if I was the only one with this problem. Phone improved today (3rd day of using) but I didn't do anything to it. Only hanged once when someone called. Hanged on calling in screen and had to pull battery.
Only once compared to 7 times yesterday!

Yes until now it does. Sometimes the power button is reacting a little late but i havent had to pull the battery yet with the older radio.
You might want to download it again and flash that to see if you had a corrupt download. First copy all data from the sd and partition it. Just make everything fat. I havent used the stock recovery in ages so I cant recall if you can partition from there, if you cant, do it on the pc. Wipe everything that the stock recovery can wipe. Then try to flash your new download of the update. You can do this fairly quickly and its worth a try before you go through the process of reverting to 2.1.

I'll give this a shot when I get home from work. I'll report back on if it works or not. Thanks for the idea.
Interesting, not that I'm complaining, but after a few days of using 2.2 it seems more stable now....? haven't had any freezes today...yet.
Power button response also getting better.

Wifi / rebooting / charging issues

OK my wife has a tmobile 4G streak7, she is having some issues.. Her Wifi keeps turning off for what seems to be no reason. Also it seems to reboot spontaneously. The latest issue she is having is her Streak will stop charging and not recognize the cable plugged in use until you finally force it to reboot.
She is running an update rooted version of the official honey comb. I am running the same ROM just rooted.

Those are just bugs of the Honeycomb build that some of us have that were never solved. My best advice is to just flash stock recovery and do a factory reset from there. If that doesn't help flash the ROM again
thank you, she is not going to like taht information, But I had a feeling.

My best advice is to naturally back up all your apps with Titanium or MyBackUp Pro.... if she has a gmail account then all her contacts will be there automatically
With MyBackUp Pro you can also backup all your text messages I believe.
But it's honestly not that bad of a deal. The whole shebang takes only about 30 minutes between flashing and restoring everything to how it was

**** NO..... the stock build unrooted was crap, and once I rooted it I started having troubles, and I'm not gonna use an unrooted ROM

Touch Screen Not Responding

So I am having a bad problem with my i896. The other day I tried to install a beta version of XBMC. Of course it didn't work. It got so bad that I had to do a factory reset and reinstall CM9 (the latest nightly build).
So that worked OK for a few hours, then all of a sudden, the touch screen just stopped responding. I've tried doing another factory reset and reinstalling CM9 again, no luck. I am really hoping that it isn't a hardware problems.
Any suggestions?
You can try flashing stock, if it still doesn't work your digitizer probably went bad. You will have to have it replaced or search how to do it yourself. Ebay has them pretty cheap.

I know this i a liitle old of a thread but instead of starting new one i will ask my simple question here. I need to replace the screen/digitizer on a rogers I896. will this work or is the i896 and i897 so different that it will not?

Safestrap 3.05 help please.

I uninstalled the old version of safestrap, then installed the new version. I can do everything just fine (install, wipe, etc) but when I try to boot from the ROM slots, the phone just sits at a black screen.. I tried flashing Eclipse 3.0 and nothing happens.. help???
Sent from my DROID3 using xda app-developers app
Well eclipse 3.0 hasn't worked for me. The latest cm10,aokp,and aosp boot for me as well as mavrom 4.5 and axiomcs 1.0. Have u tried any other roms aside from eclipse?
Sent from my XT862 using xda app-developers app
Don't think eclipse works with new Safestrap. I have tested CM10, AOKP, AOSP, and Steel Droid. Those 4 all are "working".
Steel Droid is the most stable one i have tried so far, CM10, AOKP and AOSP all lag for me.
Hey guys,
New to Droid 3/ Milestone 3 World here.
I just bought one, actually with the 5.2.390.XT860.Brasil.en.BR version.
I'm not exacly new to flashing roms, and recoveries, but in this case I'm a little confused. Is it possible to use SafeStrap on this one? Or better go for an older version of it?
Thanks in advance.
@Munckster, as long as it is rooted you can install safestrap 3.04 and try if custom roms work for you?? but make sure you have the correct SS3 version!!

I was thinking about trying... Maybe during the weekend..
Thanks for the advice, man!
I took my phone back to stock (from an oldish CM9 that had been working reasonably well for me for some time) so I could install SS3. Made the mistake of letting the phone OTA update itself and then had to find a new root hack before I could get SS3 installed.
Unfortunately the OTA update has messed with the radio, as reinstalling the CM9 I've used for months gets a system where the phone app just crashes.
The kexec cm9 on hash code's download site results in a black screen for me. I have to pull the battery to get the phone back. Funnly enough the old CM9 does boot - and every thing works except the phone.
The latest CM10 does every thing I want (I can live with out the camera) BUT I can't receive calls, the phone app crashes. (But I can MAKE calls!).
This is on GSM BTW, not CDMA where I live.
So i'm busted back down to the 'stock' OS so I can use my phone as a phone
And as a new XDA user I can't post my bug report in the developer thread.
Well,
I installed the 3.0.5 version. Works like a charm! The easiest to use recovery that I ever use.
But the question is: Is it safe to downgrade it?
Sorry about the dumb question.
SS3 can be un-installed pretty easily. Boot your 'stock' OS, then use the SS3 app to remove the 'hijack' and then reboot again. No SS3. Just remember to do it from the 'stock' OS and not one of the others.
Don't do what I did with SS2 - from a non stock OS, remove SS and reboot. Ended up with a phone that never finished booting before it rebooted. Fortunately the emergency recovery mode built into the phone worked to recover it.

Is the issue you're having that when you're speaking to people on the phone you can't hear anything and they can't hear you? Cause on CM9 there should be no issues with using it as a phone as long as you don't enable bluetooth ever or use buttons on a headset connected to your phone. I haven't tried CM10 yet so I wouldn't know too much about that. Just for some extra info to save your time do not flash Liberty or Eclipse, they don't seem to work. The newest Maverick works fine.

Is it just me or...

I'm just wondering if anybody else is having a similar problem. I've read through a lot of the posts about bootlooping but none seem to fit the problems that I'm having...
I've got an International HTC One, S-Off'd and running Trickdroid 7.5.0. The ROM flashed and worked fine, in fact I've been using it for the past 3 months and used different versions of Trickdroid in that time, even flashed the Trickdroid Tweaks and it worked fine, but anytime I try to flash anything on top of it, it bootloops.
I've tried flashing the 30 step volume mod, the Xposed framework and a few other small modifications and it goes straight into a bootloop. Doesn't matter wether I clear the cache afterwards or not. The only thing that puts it right again is to restore it from CWM.
I don't know if it's a handset problem, a Trickdroid problem or wether it's all the 4.2 builds for this device. The exposed Framework worked on the original stock rom, so I will try another but I haven't had time at the moment, I was just wondering if anybody else had a similar problem...
Thanks ...John...

Next time you flash something try and shine a light at the sensor on top left as you restart it this may help
It sounds pike you are having incompatible mod issues... It's jot your handset. Try one mod at a time and ensure it boots and works then move on to another one
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
That happened to me when I installed Xposed Framework as well, so I am guessing there's a compatibility issue with Trickdroid 7.5.0. And no, it's not your device.
It seems that anything that I try and flash seems to cause the problem, apart from the initial ROM install and the Tweaks app. Whether I do them all at once or individually, it's still the same...
I tried flashing the 30 step volume mod again and it still wouldn't boot. I tried with the flashlight on the sensor but it still didn't make any difference (worth a try).
I'll probably try it with ARHD or InsertCoin at the weekend when I'm not in work, just to see if it works, it's a pitty because I like Trickdroid and don't really want to get rid of it...
Thanks ....John...
