I have looked around, and haven't found much. I'm looking for a calendar app that
has a little more kick than the android calendar. Actually, I only have a few things
wrong with the stock calendar:
-Doesn't let me add events biweekly.
-Widget isn't cool enough.
I know I can get different widgets that connect to the google calendar, so that
doesn't bother me that much. However, is there a calendar app/mod that allows
me to add events every other week? Rather than every and every third? Thanks.
pure calendar widget + adw launcher or launcher pro = scrollable calendar widget like sense UI if you like that kinda thing.
I had pure calendar widget, and I have launcher pro, and I did like it, but it doesn't solve my biweekly problem =/ (It's actually for the trash collection here. We get fined if we don't sort our garbage, so we have three bins, and one is collected every week, while the other two are collected every other week. I'm trying to keep track because I'm always forgetting)

hmm wish I could suggest something else but I don't use the calendar much and have only tried pure calendar.

While I can't suggest any apps (still looking for a decent calendar app that displays events nicely), you could probably add the reminder in Google Calendar, which does support biweekly schedules, and email/SMS notifications. I have a report due on Friday every week, so I've configured mine to email me 30 minutes prior, SMS 10 minutes prior, and the default Calendar app pops up an Android bar notification on my N1 about 15 minutes prior too.
Pure Grid Calendar ?

I live in a rural (ish) area. I'd have to drive a few minutes to see what other people are putting on the curb. And I'll try using the real google calender. didn't think of that.

Android Agenda Widget, yep, works awesome. And agreed; put the event in the Google Calendar web interface directly, unless you need to do this stuff all the time.
Well, even the site won't let me add an item on a biweekly basis, but that's okay. I put it in for every week, and I'll just figure it out then. As for a decent widget. I'm a minimalist. I want this widget to be 4x1 and minimal. My home screen has always been almost nothing, but I would like this to be on there.

Android Agenda Widget has every size you can imagine.. 2x2 2x3 2x4 3x1 3x2 3x3 3x4 4x1 4x2 4x3 4x4
Yes I'm seeing that. And the customizability level is intense. I think I found a winner! =D
Go to google calendar
Create event
Select repeats weekly
Repeat every ___ weeks <-------------------
Its an option after you select weekly
And +1 for agenda widget! Used it since day one and its awesome

Thanks for this. I never even clicked on weekly. Brilliant.
And I know! There's only one thing I want to change, but I don't think it can be done. But I'm happy with the the widget nonetheless =D

Hello,
After 'Pure calendar' and 'Weather forecast', I am ready to create a new widget.
But I don't have any idea of 'WHAT'.
What widget really miss you ?
Conditions :
- it should NOT exist on market.
- I should be able to sell it on the market (can't sell small widget, like memory, or pictures)
- it will be free during beta testing, paid after
- winning idea will have widget for free
Winning ideas :
+++ messaging widget (gmail + SMS + email)
+++ bookmark widget with sync with mobile browser & xmarks
Remaing ideas :
++ task widget
+ dock to put more app icons into one cell
+ dialer widget
+ photo galery with flicker integration
+ power control widget
+ stock market
Ideas not developed :
- email/SMS/MMS widget >>> problem, there is no gmail API ! >>> solution found !!!!!!!!
Some kind of system montior widget would be great. ie, something that would show: CPU frequency, CPU load, swap usage, battery level, disk usage on fat + ext...
I don't know about other people, but I normally check this stuff from the terminal, so it would be nice to have a widget.

oh yeah that would be great too.
super social net widget
I would suggest an integrated Twitter/Facebook/GTalk(Jabber)/SMS-MMS widget where you can see everything in one location (maybe tab based or mixed with a label of some sort).
If tabbed, the number of new messages could be part of the tab label or added to the notification bar.
If everything shows in same window, then touching a message could either allow the user to respond or open the appropriate app.
Could be enhanced later with LinkedIn, Plaxo, etc. based on what people want.
Hummmm ... good idea an email widget.
Does it exist only on Hero now ?

Main problem with this are API.
Most API have restrictions for commercial uses... so, to use thoses API, you have to create your software as 'free'... This is not my goal.
I believe it does as I can't see it anywhere else
well it's not really a widget i'm missing. but a program to auto end and auto-start other programs at specific times would be great
so one could auto-end k-9 at 23:00, have a good night's sleep and have it autostart at 7:00 to read all the new mails...

I cant really think of anything that isnt in the market. but i know of a few things that i think are in the market, but can be done better...
personally, i liked the WM 6.2 screen where you had a scrolling "widget" that you could use to place direct call shortcuts... id love to see a android version of that...
the ones out there are ok, but they arent as clean looking as the WM take on it... from what ive seen of your work, you are the person that i think could create something like what im thinking of...
the one on the hero is fine, but, i even think its a bit clunky...

I would really like to have a dialer widget. I hate the default behavior that the green call button brings up the call log instead of the dialer. In fact, I would be quite happy if the built-in dialer could be made into a widget. I imagine it would take up an entire home screen but I'm fine with that.

fluent scrolling is impossible with current SDK. You have to simulate scrolling with buttons ... not very fun.

i added the 4x1 htc calendar widget today and noticed an odd problem. if i add something to my calendar, the 4x1 widget displays it a day earlier. if today were wednesday and i scheduled a meeting on friday, the smaller widget would show the meeting as being "tomorrow" (thursday). does anyone know what might cause this? i'm running a hero rom, btw.
TIA!
I have the same problem plus mine is showing "no entries today" when there are entries for yesterday, today and tomorrow. Very unreliable.
I have the same problem where events on Saturday are showing on Thursday as 'Tomorrow'. I am using the MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.9 with teknologist 1.8. I'm sure it used to work ok a few months ago but can't really check without wiping my phone. I'll post this to the Modaco forums and see if Paul can shed any light on it.
yea, it's a weird occurance. annoying so much that i've completed removed that small widget atop my main screen and replaced it with the google search bar. sad, i like that small calendar widget...
So I found this App on the Market called ScreenSlide. It's a real nice Home Replacement Application but is amazing. It merges all of your Text Messages, E-Mails, Stocks, FaceBook, Twitter, and Calender right on to the Home Screen. Its all on 1 screen.Check it out in the Market. There is a Free Trial Version and a Full Version. Their both in the Market. Check it out.
This is not my Application.

I tried it a couple of months ago, it's really nice but cuts back on some standard Android features (I'm talking about widgets specifically).
I agree with JAg. It looks great, but for people like me that like having cluttered home screens and don't use all of SlideScreen's data streams anyway, it's just not as practical.
Hi, I'm trying to get the HTC Calendar to my phone. I have installed the ROM TastyGingerbread 2.0 but I want the HTC Calendar. I like it. I have tried to push a few from different Custom ROM's (the two I tried was from MaDoCo's and Villan's 12 ROM's) but I always get a force close after Reboot.
Are they not compatible? Is there something from the HTC apk's that I need as well? Help. I like the HTC Calendars because they show the month view on the screen when I add a widget to the Android desktop.
TA.
you need rom with sense to use htc calendar.
just grab some other sense-like calendar widget from market
OK I see, I just wanted one that displays a whole month on a whole page. Can anyone recommend a free one?
TA
I use CALENDAR PAD and it is by far the best one available, I should know, I have tested them all, and its free,, let me know if its what you were looking for.
http://goo.gl/QT0nl calendar widget, literally
Simply open the Stock-Android-Calendar app, hit the menu-button and 'Month'.
Done
I will try them all and see which one I like. GZfan I wanted a month view on the screen so that I can just select the date and add in a reminder. I know the stock calendar has a month view but it is 4-6 clicks before I can add a reminder as opposed to one click.
I use calendars for reminders and at a glance I can just click the date then add the reminder. I am not interested in seeing what I have for each day like some people want.

Has anyone found a radar widget for the GTab? Of all the weather widgets I have located, none of them actually offer an on-screen updating radar. I would even be happy with a hyperlink widget that can display the radar picture from a website and be set to update at certain intervals. Anyone have any ideas?
God Bless!
Look at weatherbug works great
Rainy Days
Thanks for the replies! However, neither of these apps offers a radar widget for the homescreens. This is what I'm really looking for.
Weatherbug can do it.. At least the pay version can, even animated so you can track storms! Its what i use...

Cool! It's not currently available in the Market...might be worth buying when it comes around again.
I ended up using a webcam widget linked to a doppler radar image on a weather website. I can't remember the exact name of the widget, but there are a few of them on the market. It refreshes the image every few minutes to keep it up to date. It doesn't do anything like zooming or animations (it -might- if the image you link to is an animated gif or something), but it's just a quick reference for me, and if I need more details or animations I just jump into weatherbug.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!! Thanks!!! I will try to find something that does that!
EDIT: I found Webcam Widget on the Market. It work PERFECTLY! You simply plug in the address and it automatically updates every 30 minutes. VERY basic...but, you can run multiple instances of the widget and it resizes well while keeping the aspect ratio of the radar image. Thanks again for the jump start in the right direction!
