The way I understand it, Nexus One is getting the most attention from Android modders (correct me if I'm wrong). What phone do you think is the next big thing, in terms of this?

Remember the first Android phone the G1 and it's successor a year later the MyTouch3G? Well that those two are still getting the best ROMs... CyanogenMOD6!!!
So the Nexus One with CyanogenMOD6 guarantee will be supported for a long time.
Whatever the next dev phone from Google is. First the G1 (and then the Magic which was almost the same hardware), then the Nexus One. Whatever they put out next. They've claimed there won't be a Nexus Two, but they're going to need something to do development on. The N1 won't last forever.
I read that google are working hard on the UI for gingerbread, but for who to use?!! most phone companies will skin their phones.
will there be another superphone that use vanilla android, I mean they are working hard on the UI for something.

Ya the Nexus One.
the nexus one will remain the go-to phone until the next developer phone is released. most likely next year sometime. nexus will be the first to get gingerbread no doubt.
What ever phone cyanogen gets next is where im going lol
Yeah. Looks like we'll have wait for Google+Cyanogen's next baby and it seems that it's not out or announced yet.

I just saw it in the Telemundo Noticias, the new iPad 2 from Apple and they didn't mentioned nothing interesting other than it's thinner.
But !
Edit:
They showed a tab running Gingerbread...
They're stupid they should have shown in the preview the current iPad, not one with Android :/
I think they can release one with Mac OS X, but that they can doesn't mean they should....
They want people to get high-tech little by little so their win extends. If you know what I mean....

What made me rage was how Steve was bragging how the App store has 65,000 apps, and the Honeycomb has only 100. Um, hello, iPad is out for over a year, the Xoom isn't even out yet...I think. If it is, only a few days.

The simplest answer is, yes.
I don't know, but I can guarantee Android won't miss you.
How so? Well maybe I will miss the widget feature but other than that I think iPhone kinda do a pretty good job IMHO.

No need to flame guys, it's just a simple question.
Now to the OP, try IOS put, if you like it, keep it. If not, you care slate trade the 4S for an android device. Once it comes down to it, it's all preference.

I went from being an iPhone user (iPhone3GS then an iPhone4) to android and would never go back. There isn't much you can do on an iPhone in was of customization without jailbreaking, and a jailbroke ios4.0 was very unstable for me with horrible battery life. Not to sure about a jailbroke ios5 since I bailed before it was released, although my wife now has the iPhone4 with ios5 (stock) and it is fast, so I'm sure the 4s would be snappy as ever with the improved processor. I like optons, so for me android is a better experience.

i don't really get why you'd want to go the iphone route unless you're feeling a little retro today.
the main reason iphone users dont switch (from my observations) was the money spent on apps, but i've never heard of android users switching to an iphone unless it was an entry-level phone (ie: optimus one, galaxy gio)
edit:
if you're bored with your phone, you can try a different manufacturer like samsung, moto or maybe go stock with a gnex. it'll be a completely new experience.

The biggest thing for me that keeps me away from ios other than it being closed and no customization is the lack of a dedicated back button. I think its a huge thing to leave out and makes things like opening links in one app that brings up another very disorienting. I think its a huge flaw in the design of the OS. The one home button is incredibly inconvenient and clunky.

That's why I said 'it depends,' and followed it with a smiley. Some people would miss the money they spent in the market/app store. Others will only care about ideology or the OS.

I am thinking of selling my Velocity, not that I really want to love the thing, however the security restraints and general hard to develop nature of this device is turning me off HTC.
So get to the point you ask
Just putting it out there its not a request, demand by any means I just wanna know if there is anything CM10 in the pipe line due for release soon or is it to hard because of the bad HTC code and security.
I would like to keep the Velocity but there are easier devices out there.
Anything cm10 wise will be at tootz, which you know is on hold...don't think anyone here is really building from source...maybe in the future I may give it a try...but idk

Sounds like a good idea...I've never attempted to build from source, but I have a guy in the infuse section that's gonna walk me through it, gonna get a new 1tb hard drive on Sunday...500gb for windows and 500gb for ubuntu-that should give me plenty of room for building from source as I hear it takes like 20gb just for one build...once I get started ill be happy to help you
What little knowledge I have is decompiling apks and doing minor edits to xml and smali files (for tweaks) unfortunately none of that knowledge does me any good here on the vivid as I can't seem to get apktool to work with the vivid :/

Not a good idea man. HTC has gone too far with locking things down, but Samsung has started on that path. They locked down the Verizon GS3 (it's been cracked, but still) and people are having huge issues with flashing. Many of the dual core GS3's are losing their IMEI after flashing. The grass doesn't look much greener on the other side anymore.

I'm going to see how I like mine by Christmas time, in which I'm buying a Nexus if I don't like it by then. It's not just htc for me it's nexus or nothing from now on. We have a pretty common chipset, we should have a development forum filled with aosp and aokp roms but we don't? Why? Because security is off the chain. It's a taste of things to come honestly. By next year look for android phones to be completely locked down with almost no updates anymore. They are becoming the new feature phones.
But HTCs s thing is ridiculous. It's another hurdle that doesn't exist on every other manufacturer. My captivate was completely unlocked from the factory, rooting took 5 minutes and you kept your data.

Same here. That would actually be pretty cool... Like the nemesis to other oems, and carriers!? Cheap CM running phone. I would go for that.

If this really is a Cm phone, and t-mobile will pay me to break my sprint contract in a year, then I will sell my one and get it. Hopefully it'll have a nice build. And a front facing speaker(s). It seems like that's not too much to ask for in a phone?
Some N4 users said that it looks a lot like the device, though. Maybe the Nemesis is an alternative to Android?

For those of you who don't know, Nemesis, from what people can tell, is a project which is to create a "skin" that not only brings the AOSP experience, but also rivals OEMs skins feature wise.
Phase 1: Focal the camera app. It replaces the bland AOSP camera to compete with custom camera apps like sense, touchwiz etc.
Who want to guess what the next phase will be? I think it'll be Trebuchet.
They will pay you? How did you get such a sweat deal and how will they pay you? After my contract I'm leaving sprint never going back to cdma again

They simply gave me enough credit to cover for my ETF for 3 phones from t mobile. It was as though my contract had ended. I doubt any other carrier will do that and it was a limited time offer from Sprint. But I'm hoping either AT&T or T-Mobile will break me out of Sprint. The data speeds are nuts. I was struggling to get 4 megs in a strong LTE area.
F touchwiz...

Phase 2 of Nemesis people: Cyanogenmod Accounts.
This is an alternative to Google's remote lock and wipe software Android manager. Just wanted to give enough guys a heads up.
