Ringtone for callers that show as "Unknown" ? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to specify a ringtone for Unknown and private users? My work blocks caller id, and as such shows up as Unknown on my phone when they call. They are the only Unknown caller i usually get. I would like to put a custom ringtone for them.
Googling suggested that you can save the Unknown call as a contact, however when i did this (called my phone from work - menu - save to contacts - selected a specified ringtone) it didn't work. It ignored the contact and used my default ring.
Anyone got any other suggestions?
Thanks

Unique ringtone for private numbers?

I want to set a different ringtone for callers with no number displayed. (In my case this is how my work contact me.) Is it possible to set a calltone for callers diplayed as a "private" that is different to all the others. Thnx.
BUMP
Will this work?
If I enter the text "private" in a phone number field of an outlook contact will the Kaiser match it with the Caller ID "private" that displays when an unlisted number rings? I can then assign it a unique ringtone.
Nope. It won't. Not sure on how to make tones assign to private/unknown. Your work calls you from private numbers? Who are you double O 7? lol jk
Third Party Software.....
Either Photocontacts or smartfilter. Google either. Both will do what you want. Photocontacts has more features and options.
Shame I have to add and buy a third party utility to do such a simple thing. Without installing these apps.... they appear to do forwarding and blocking according to caller ID. None of their blurbs mention custom ringtones for private/unknown though?
Is there not some way this could be achieved from in the registry.
is there an update? is there anyway to assign ringtones to private callers?
I had wondered about this issue myself. What I have done is set up S2U2 and Ringo. I have a picture of "The Stig" as s2u2 allows you to dislay your own gif image for unknown callers. In Ringo I set up all my contacts into the correct categories and so the default caller basically works as unknowns, which incidentally you can set to your own mp3/wav etc...
My solution to this was to assign tones to different categories using ToneManager, so that anyone not assigned to a category (i.e. private or unknown numbers) use the default ringtone.
Hope this helps
6 months on.... Just bumping this up.
Has any one yet found a non-third-party-software way of achieving a distinctive ringtone for callers with no number displayed. (In my case this is how my work contact me.) Surely this must be possible.
Workaround?
I have distintive numbers for people who I DO know about / reveal their number to me. For everyone else that comes up as "unknown" or "withheld" it plays the default ringtone, assigned in Sounds & Notifications.
Works for me as my company always calls me from a withheld number.

No caller name on display when incoming call

Hi,
I cannot find the option to turn on the feature, that the name of the caller is displayed, when it is in the phonebook. Right now, only the international number is shown whe somebody calls. What do I have to configure? Thx.
Regards Heinzelrumpel
No ideas ??????
WM5 onwards it is already there.
You have to feed the number for each contact as +<country code><areacode><Number>. For example +919896312345

How to set an Unknown Caller ringtone?

Is there a way set a discrete ringtone to unknown callers.
Apparently there are three different types of unknown calls:
1. Calls from number-withheld callers.
2. Calls from a public telephone.
3. Calls from the environment where you are unable to notify the number.
It is not possible to treat the three separately.
No problems here... All I want is for my phone to use a specific ringtone for these calls, that is different to the default one I assign to contacts or calls from non withheld numbers.
I do not want to block or divert or silence them, which is what the current unknown number Applications do.
I do not want a different ringtone for callers not in contacts.
I get a lot of legitimate calls from a single "unknown caller" who is i fact my employer who uses number-withheld. So I want my phone to ring differently when they call .
The Nexus call log does not let you add Unknown to contacts, which I have read in another forum as a suggested solution.
Any ideas?

Don't know if this will help others, but look at my post (link below) to see how I accomplished this on my HTC One V:

Unkown SIP calls listed as last saved contact

I have set my phone up to use the built in SIP support. (settings -> calls -> internet call settings)
However when an unknown (as in not previously saved number, but not hidden) number has called, it's listed in the call history with the name of the last saved contact on the phone.
This does not happen with incoming calls via the mobile number, only via the SIP. I don't know if it's the "@<ip address>" that's added to the end of a phone number that causes the issue.
Does anyone have an idea have to resolve this?

contacts showing up as "unknown" in the dialer

Moto X, Andriod 5.1, pure stock, bought in Germany, used in Russia.
I've got a constant problem with caller's ID showing up as "unknown" in the dialer history.
This behaviour is sporadic. I could not trace back any reason why a caller from my contact list would appear as "unknown" in the call log.
Sometimes when i get an incoming call from an unknown number it dos get listed explicitly in the incoming call history and i can call back (the number itself gets registered in the incoming call log) but half of the time i get an unanswered call as "unknown", so i can't even define who's been calling me.
The same applies to in/out calls from/to my contact list. I get "unknown" numbers in the log that i can not redial or keep the history of.
I tried an alternative dialer (Dialer One from Google Play which i had as a default in my previous Motorola Defy+) with no success.
Most of my contacts are saved in Cyrillic but i never had any problems with my Motorola Defy + which was also bought in Germany.
And the error seems to be random anyway. Sometimes i get the contact or the phone number listed in the log, but most of the time i get "unknown" source.
Any clues or suggestions on solving this problems? Thanks in advance!
I'm a newbie here so i can not post any screenshots, sorry for the pure text.
