Increase handset volume? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to increase the handset volume not just temporally?
I´m driving a truck and it is really difficult for me to understand the person i´m talking with, volume is already set to max.
I figured out that it is possible to increase the volume in ( *#197328640# ) service mode - audio - handset - volume numbers 1 to 4 i set to 100.
Thats working good for me until i reboot, than the settings are reset to default. I already searched for a config file without success.
Maybe someone has more luck?

I cant see the volume setting in the service mode.
Non rooted jf3

Need a program
We will need a program which starts with boot and changes the settings to max everytime it is started. Some experts can help us.

(Solved for diamond) How to disable fast dormant display during call?

I bought a Touch Diamond recently.
But I can't resolve a problem with the fast dormont display during call function.
I tried to modify the setting in the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall
I change the DWORD Data from 1 to 0.
But after a soft reset, I still have the problem that screen turns off quickly during calls.
It bothers me when I need to use the keypad during a call
to enter ext. number or to follow a vocal operation.
Does any one have the solution here?
Thanks a lot.
Craig Shih
My problem is now solved. Any one who needs the solution can go to post#19 and post#29.
But it needs more tests and feedbacks because I don't know how it works for other roms.
No body in the diamond forum knows how to solve this problem.
Maybe this is a very very difficult problem to solve.
No one knows how to sovle it until now.
Hope a real master comes to help us.
diamond bugs
yes it's really sad to have a expensive mobile without a support even the htc don't have a solution what kind of support we had ??? lucky us we had a website like XDA developer to help us tnx to the dude who put up all the tweaks and update....try to flash the euro rom it will solve the prob.blank screen during call...
as soon as phone call is received, just press on joystick centre button shortly. Display will not go off then. Simple enough.
if before you'll make the call ypu'll take out the stylus, it won't go off, and it will automatically start a note.this setting is in phone option last tab...
remember: it goes to sleep the moment you hold it against your ear (or your hand or anything in the front).
if you set the registry right it will stay on as long as you don't hold anything against the front.

that's an additional and necessary side effect since he only needs the display to stay on so he can use the keypad without pressing extra buttons.

Thank you for your suggestion.
I tried this method and then the call will be on hold immediately
until I press the central button again.
But it surely keep the screen on during calls though I have to press the central button twice.

Thank you for your suggestion.
It's a good functionality for diamond users.
But sometimes I want to use the keypad during calls rather than to make a note with stylus.
For example when we call for some credit card toll free service,
we might have to key in ext. numbers or ID numbers or card numbers etc.

Could you explain the registry for us?
Err... personal view..
If there is a solution.. it would be great.. but just in case, there isn't :
I have gotten used to it.
now if it is to enter extension numbers or whatever.. I just start off by pushing the center dial once. The key pad is there.. I get on with entering the ext. number or the Account numbers..
Same call - next time I have to enter other details, hit the center thing again.. and the key pad is there..
It's not that much of a hassle.
Of course a solution would be great, but even if there isn't, one does get used to it, in time.
why do you want it to stay on.
i noticed that when it stays on during a call, my ear is opening programs.
which i really do not want.
if you need to use the phone during a conversation just press the on button.

You are right, it 's not a big deal.
Maybe it's only my preference with mobile phone or somebody else's.
But if we can choose which way to go, that would be better.

This registry setting will disable your screen from turning off when making a call:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Backlight\LightSensorPollingEnable set to 0
It disables the lightsensor so it doesn't react when you're putting the phone next to your ear.
It worked for me, so I hope it will work for you as well.

Hello. That registry entry solved that problem, but still after a few seconds the light turns off, even if I set it to turn off after 5 minutes in the Power settings. Is there any registry "tweak" to increase the backlight duration during a phone call?

Yes I can. Look at this post, point 8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2278799&postcount=1
This regkey is also mentioned a few times in this thread.
See also point 17 of that post.
Done.
This is what I did
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatteryTimeoutInCall set to 0
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatterySuspendTimeoutInCall to 0
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall to 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone Sleep to 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LightSensorPollingEnable to 0
That done..
Restart the phone (I waited for a minute or so)
Backlight remains on now.
Then, just for the hell of it.. went back into the registry and set back the default values for:
lightsensorpollingenable
Phone sleep
Fast dormant
Checked again.. still works.
If one or two people could confirm that this works, we could finally put a SOLVED thing to this nonsense and get it over with.

Vibration when call begins.

Hi. My diamond doesn't vibrate anymore when the call is begining. (You know there's only one fast vibration when the connection is ok). Even if the option is activated in the "phone config".
Any idea ? Thanks.
(not a big problem, but I like this option ...).
Check if your Diamond vibrates while playing Teeter ?
Have you chekcked that the setting is on in the phone settings?
Are you sure your ring and/or system volume aren't set to "silent", the setting below "vibrate"? Otherwise the phone won't vibrate when you're getting called.
same problem...
vibration working in all other apps, set to sound and set to on in phone settings, when call begins no vibr...
You might check how it's been set in your registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script
Check this value. There should be an "v" in it, indicating the phone should vibrate. If it isn't, set it to your own like: See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=RegistryRingtoneScripts
ive "av0pw3r" there...
v0 indicates it should vibrate 0 seconds. Try changing this to v1 or v3.
I've apw3r.
Doesn't working with av3pw3r ...
(to aqeelhaider, Diamond vibrate on Teeter)
The setting is on on phone settings ...
Any idea ?
By the way, I think there's an other issue with my phone. I can't use the feature for adding phone number if it's not already in the phone at call's end ... Enven if the setting is ok in the config menu.

Ahh then I misunderstood. I thought you mend the vibrating for indicating someone is calling you, not the vibrate on call established. The registry tweak I supplied are for the ringtone, notifying you your getting called.
Open the dial pad > press menu > options > advanced > and tick -> vibrate device when connection is established
Hope it helps

Did you disable the htc phone skin?
IF yes then you can't have "vibrate device when connection established
At least that's the case with me.
I disabled the htc skin but i sure miss this feature . In the
phone/settings/advanced, the "vibrate device when connection established" is ticked but nothing happens , unfortunately.
Also the sylus to notes isn't working but i don't care for that.
hi everyone
is there a registry tweak that disables the vibrate feature when call is established?
cos i have a problem where the advance menu tab doesn't exist in my menu > option tabs
thanks
to get to the advanced tab you need to do this
click start>settings>phone>then click the little arrows at the bottom to show Advanced then click on it.

Diamond does not ring when called!

(Sorry - this was previously in the wrong thread category)
Hi,
after installing some software apps (numerous freeware utilities), my diamond does not ring anymore when I am called (it does vibrate).
I have checked everything but cant switch the darn ringing on again - other sonds work fine, it just doesn't ring. This is the second time this has happend - after the first time the hard-reset fixed the problem, but then I reinstalled several programs again and the same problem is back again.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do about this without doing a hard reset?
Perhaps there is a Tweak utility where I can see if the ringing has been switched off?
Please help.
Thanks in advance - I would really appreciate any suggestions.

What is pointUI ? - I have the standard diamond branded user interface from O2 with all the system internals and the ROM version 1.93.207.2 German.
Please help me - I really do not want to do a hard reset because the last time I could not retrieve my back up with the Sprite backup utility .
Thanks in advance for any help.
i can't believe i'm now posting in this. i remember telling you to post this on the main diamond forum and now i'm having the same problem.
i've tried putting the ringtones in the internal storage, and on the phone's main memory, sometimes i hear the ring for a split second before it goes silent.
from searching, it seemed like some people have had this issue with some SRS WOW program but I don't have that.
have you been able to resolve this? I too would like to avoid a hard reset if at all possible, i just got the phone setup the way i want it and it would take a ton of time to get it back....
This may sound stupid, but give it a try, it has helped before...
Go to the settings tab in TF3D.
Tap Sound
Set Volume at 100%
Sometimes, the ring volume gets reset to 0 by itself, and it took me 4 weeks before I found it, after trying about everything, from uninstalling every app to hacking the registry.

i think i might have an idea what my issue might be, so it was working this morning but i noticed microsoft's voice command was announcing the name of the caller as it was ringing. so i think it might be an issue with the msvc. i'm going to try disabling the voice announce and see what that does...
Problem Solved!
Hi,
guess what - I finally found the solution
I never bothered to read the Diamond manual as I believed the user friendly interface to be self-explanitory - however, I overlooked something very important!
When setting the volume up or down by means of the buttons on the left hand side of the Diamond, the usual vertical bargraph type of display appears and reacts according to how the adjutment is made with the volume up or down buttons, this is clear. There is also the possibility to mute the phone or to put it into vibration-only mode.
Now, at the top left hand side, there is an arrow (looks like this: <). If you quickly tap on that with the stylus before the screen goes away again, you will get a new screen for another setting - now this setting is for adjusting the ringing volume / mute / vibration settings (now the arrow is on the top right and looks like this: >
It is so simply expained: The system volume is not the same as the telephone ringing volume and just requires the quick click on the top left hand side of the screen and voila, bob is your uncle! You can then set the ringing volume up and your phone will ring again.
I wantend to know why the heck the ringing volume just changes or what caused the problem and I have also been able to determine why the ringing volume settings change - to explain:
When setting the SYSTEM VOLUME to mute - then the PHONE RINGING VOLUME is also muted! However, when then setting the system volume up again, the ringing volume still remains muted! This is important to know and it can also happen accidentally or it may be forgotten to reset the ringing volume. I dare to say that this was not really thought about very well and I hope the developers will change this or show a VOLUME STATUS for both the SYSTEM and RINGING volumes somewhere on the desktop/today screen.
... or would that not be a good project for a developer here on this forum perhaps? I would appreciate a comment here...
Thanks anyway for the kind responses and willingness for your help.
I have to date still not read the actual over 260 page little manual booklet, but it probably is described in there. Moral of the story: RYFM (for those who know what that stands for)
Amendment: Found it described on page 42 in the manual booklet - it's actually described there but can be easily overlooked and it is not described that the system volume settings affect the ringing volume settings.
Ok, so the phone rings now but I have a similar problem with my GPS receiver
I will open another thread for this - hopefully someone can help me.
Best regards,
Mike - Germany.
I had the same problem.
It happened to me.
All the system sounds were fine, but the ring wasn't there.
Checked settings, change ringtone, tried a lot of stuff.
I was begginning to think about a hard reset when I found my problem origin:
At least in the ROM that I use (Shaks), when you press one of the volume keys in the side of the phone, you change system and ring volume.
If I press it all down, it goes to zero then vibrate then silent, and normally the system and ringer volumes are equal when you do this.
In that system volume screen that appears when you press volume key, there is a arrow in the top left. If you press it, you'll go "ringer volume" screen. I noticed that system volume was in maximum but the ringer volume didn't fallow it.
That said, if your ROM uses the volume keys in that same way, press that arrow and check if the ringer volume is on too.

[Q] Sleep mode issues

I have discovered that if I let my Pure go into sleep mode when it wakes up, it doesn't "take calls". I have 2 phones, one for personal and one for work. When I call the phone running android, the phone I call from rings and rings then goes to vmail, but the android doesent even register a call came in.
It does let me know I had a voicemail
it does pick up on text messages.
Just not incoming calls.
When I try to call out after I wake it up from sleep mode, it tries, but just does not want to connect. Phone doesn't freeze, just never makes the call. when I try to hang up, the "hanging up" screen stays forever, but I can go back to home screen. The phone icon in the top left taskbar never goes away, either.
I am using builds from the 26th-27th aug.
I am fairly certain this is a known issue, but is there any workaround for this? Perhaps command in startup txt regarding sleep mode?

Hi smoakeater,
this is a know issue which is document and talked about in the main XDANDROID thread all the time. It's being investigated on.
Please don't open up new threads for every little bug - of which we still have a thousand - which are already known.
Thanks for your understanding.

This is supposedly for topaz/rhodium that I found on the xda wiki:
* '4' will do "wait for interrupt", no change in arm11's clock or voltage
* '3' will do "wait for interrupt and ramp clock", the arm11's clock is lowered to 20MHz instead of 300-500, and voltage is lowered too.
* '2' will do "app sleep", arm11 is still on, but put into low power mode (registers are still saved)
* '1' and '0' will totally power off the arm11 (so we have to restore registers and things ourself), don't know the differences between them

Question Increase Volume?Help

Hello
I want to know how to unlock "enjeener mode".I need it to maximize my sound volume on Headphones.I try different ways but nothing will happened...Or maybe have another option to increase volume ?
P.S. I dont want to root my device
First of dial this code *#0011#, on the upper right corner click key input, then enter Q0 as the value.
I try this but nothing will happen
Can't help you if that didn't work, but if you where talking about developer mode then go to settings-> about phone-> software information; in it click on build number seven times; you will unlock developer mode.
