(Sorry - this was previously in the wrong thread category)
Hi,
after installing some software apps (numerous freeware utilities), my diamond does not ring anymore when I am called (it does vibrate).
I have checked everything but cant switch the darn ringing on again - other sonds work fine, it just doesn't ring. This is the second time this has happend - after the first time the hard-reset fixed the problem, but then I reinstalled several programs again and the same problem is back again.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do about this without doing a hard reset?
Perhaps there is a Tweak utility where I can see if the ringing has been switched off?
Please help.
Thanks in advance - I would really appreciate any suggestions.

What is pointUI ? - I have the standard diamond branded user interface from O2 with all the system internals and the ROM version 1.93.207.2 German.
Please help me - I really do not want to do a hard reset because the last time I could not retrieve my back up with the Sprite backup utility .
Thanks in advance for any help.
i can't believe i'm now posting in this. i remember telling you to post this on the main diamond forum and now i'm having the same problem.
i've tried putting the ringtones in the internal storage, and on the phone's main memory, sometimes i hear the ring for a split second before it goes silent.
from searching, it seemed like some people have had this issue with some SRS WOW program but I don't have that.
have you been able to resolve this? I too would like to avoid a hard reset if at all possible, i just got the phone setup the way i want it and it would take a ton of time to get it back....
This may sound stupid, but give it a try, it has helped before...
Go to the settings tab in TF3D.
Tap Sound
Set Volume at 100%
Sometimes, the ring volume gets reset to 0 by itself, and it took me 4 weeks before I found it, after trying about everything, from uninstalling every app to hacking the registry.

that's usually one of the first places i check... i'll keep it in mind though.
i think i might have an idea what my issue might be, so it was working this morning but i noticed microsoft's voice command was announcing the name of the caller as it was ringing. so i think it might be an issue with the msvc. i'm going to try disabling the voice announce and see what that does...
Problem Solved!
Hi,
guess what - I finally found the solution
I never bothered to read the Diamond manual as I believed the user friendly interface to be self-explanitory - however, I overlooked something very important!
When setting the volume up or down by means of the buttons on the left hand side of the Diamond, the usual vertical bargraph type of display appears and reacts according to how the adjutment is made with the volume up or down buttons, this is clear. There is also the possibility to mute the phone or to put it into vibration-only mode.
Now, at the top left hand side, there is an arrow (looks like this: <). If you quickly tap on that with the stylus before the screen goes away again, you will get a new screen for another setting - now this setting is for adjusting the ringing volume / mute / vibration settings (now the arrow is on the top right and looks like this: >
It is so simply expained: The system volume is not the same as the telephone ringing volume and just requires the quick click on the top left hand side of the screen and voila, bob is your uncle! You can then set the ringing volume up and your phone will ring again.
I wantend to know why the heck the ringing volume just changes or what caused the problem and I have also been able to determine why the ringing volume settings change - to explain:
When setting the SYSTEM VOLUME to mute - then the PHONE RINGING VOLUME is also muted! However, when then setting the system volume up again, the ringing volume still remains muted! This is important to know and it can also happen accidentally or it may be forgotten to reset the ringing volume. I dare to say that this was not really thought about very well and I hope the developers will change this or show a VOLUME STATUS for both the SYSTEM and RINGING volumes somewhere on the desktop/today screen.
... or would that not be a good project for a developer here on this forum perhaps? I would appreciate a comment here...
Thanks anyway for the kind responses and willingness for your help.
I have to date still not read the actual over 260 page little manual booklet, but it probably is described in there. Moral of the story: RYFM (for those who know what that stands for)
Amendment: Found it described on page 42 in the manual booklet - it's actually described there but can be easily overlooked and it is not described that the system volume settings affect the ringing volume settings.
Ok, so the phone rings now but I have a similar problem with my GPS receiver
I will open another thread for this - hopefully someone can help me.
Best regards,
Mike - Germany.
I had the same problem.
It happened to me.
All the system sounds were fine, but the ring wasn't there.
Checked settings, change ringtone, tried a lot of stuff.
I was begginning to think about a hard reset when I found my problem origin:
At least in the ROM that I use (Shaks), when you press one of the volume keys in the side of the phone, you change system and ring volume.
If I press it all down, it goes to zero then vibrate then silent, and normally the system and ringer volumes are equal when you do this.
In that system volume screen that appears when you press volume key, there is a arrow in the top left. If you press it, you'll go "ringer volume" screen. I noticed that system volume was in maximum but the ringer volume didn't fallow it.
That said, if your ROM uses the volume keys in that same way, press that arrow and check if the ringer volume is on too.

Well I've had my Tilt for a week now and I have been frustrated completely with the Phone App.
First of all, when I am calling a tone prompted location where you have to press the keys to get somewhere (611, corporate voicemail, etc), some of the time the phone will go into "hold" when i press the keys.
Secondly, after a call that i have pressed the keys for tone operation, the phone app will not completely close. the screen will stay half dim and the start bar and task panes are locked out. i can't access any of the icons at the top of the screen. the only button available is the task manager which shows no programs running.
i can pretty much replicate the 2nd problem consistently. does anyone else have this problem? Please try to call into a company say even 611, go through all the tone prompts and see if the phone app closes appropriately afterwards. make sure you are on the phone long enough for the screen to automatically dim.
the only way for me to get past this is to softboot so i can get access to the start menu again. but i'd rather not have to softboot after every phone call =T
Thanks!
Same problem here, any help would be great.
Massiv
disable the lock thing where you have to enter a pin - i think its a bug in the rom
Same problem - but if press the on/off button for the screen twice I do have again access to all icons. Not nice but ....
yeah i was messing around with the phone last night and realized that it has to do with phone lock and figured out if you press the power button to put it to sleep and press it again to wake it up, everything is normal again. it was just a fluke how i found out but i'm glad to know that this isn't only my problem. i was about to do another hard reset on the phone.
i called ATT techsupport and they told me it might be the simcard. can other Tilt owners chime in here. is this a ROM problem or could it be related to a faulty sim?

Hi
I don't know if anyone has experienced this or has a fix for it.
I picked up my Tytn II last week and I must say it's a cracking piece of kit. I seem to be experiencing a problem though.
If I say for example make a voice call and then hang up. I find that the word "phone" replaces the start menu in the top left hand corner of the screen. This wont default back to start and effectively makes the whole top row of icons inoperable. Ie battery status volume control etc. I have found this problem when using other apps, ie calendar, so it's not specific to just making voice calls.
The only way to get the top row of icons working again is to do a soft reset
All icons not on the top row seem to work ok (apart from keylock)
Any ideas ??
Massiv
Dont soft reset... just hit the power button to go into standby, then hit it again and the device will work again.
Hey presto it worked. Thanks for that. It's a bit annoying having to do that though.
Massiv
Its not a fix... its just a workaround.
When you end calls. Try first pressing the end call button, then the ok button.
I have a T-Mob MDA Var 3. When i make a call on battery power the backlight doesn't stay on. annoyingly, the only way to turn it on during a call is to hit the power button.
This seems silly as I might want to place someone on hold or start a conference, etc. I have set the backlight defaults not to turn off on external or battery power.
Does anyone know how how I can stop the backlight turning off during calls?
Thanks
Disable fast sleep and sleep ...
Use KaiserTweak below:

Thanks for the quick reply - i will try that!
Not another lazy noob....
I've tried Kaiser Tweak, and verified the registry settings. I've used google, the XDA Forum and the XDA Wiki. Still, my backlight/call end problem persists. My ROM is the most current version.
Can anyone help? I really like the Kaiser, but this problem makes it all but unusable.
Thanks,
brianb

did you soft reset?
Yes....I've run Tweak and soft reset numerous times.
Thanks for checking. I'm not sure I haven't missed something.

Mine does this. very anoying especially when calling voicemail or an automated call system where you have to press keypad numbers. Have to keep turning the phone on to press the keypad.
Hello Guys, (love this forum)
I have the HTC PRO and I'm getting depressed because the volume buttons alway (somehow) turn down the volume of the ringtone. I miss calls more then ever.
I searched this forum but couldn't find any answers to this.
I did found one solution for the HD. Change something in the Register (defaultpage from 1 to 0) Didn't on my Pro aswell on the HD of my friend.
Anyone else got a clue to switch this buttonoption off. Tho I need the buttons for the systemvolume. Maybe somebody knows how to get rid of the ringpage completly and just leaving the systempage working.
MANY THANKS to Anybody that can help..!
(if I did anything wrong on this forum or upset anyone - sorry, I am a newbe)
Greetings,
MDK
I can honestly only advise 1 thing, and that is that you install S2U2 which is a free soft that locks your phone and the buttons as well,
I've got another option which is changing the volumecontrol.dll but afterwards all your apps will minimize every time you open the keyboard = flip the screen... And this is even more annoying when you want to reply to an sms...
I had the same problem but S2U2 is the best option
Another vote for S2U2
But, if you have updated to the "leaked" 6.1 update (at&t rom), it might cause you a headache, at least it did with me. When the phone would announce an incoming call, s2u2 & the new built in slide to answer will fight each other.
Wait, I think you mean that when you put the system volume down, the ring volume goes down...right. You can put the system volume down and tap the Ring tab and put that volume up.
So I've searched all over to try and figure this one out, but there's a lot of similar issues and none that I could find that are the same thing. The description might end up long because I want to be absolutely clear about what's happening (since there were a lot of really similar issues I found when I searched).
I have a Motorola Droid running CM 7 (.0.3, i think), but the problem was also there on the last version of CM I was running (6.something, probably). The first time I wiped and installed CM7 the problem seemed to be solved, but I screwed up the account setup and on the 2nd install the problem was back.
ANYWAY, the actual problem is this:
My phone's sound will NOT turn off. I can turn it all the way down with the volume rocker, and it will show the Vibrate icon, but the volume bar will not go down that last little bit. It does not vibrate. It does not go to silent. If I turn off sound from the lock screen, it doesn't do anything except show a vibrate icon at the top. The volume level remains the same. Same goes for the sound toggle on the home screen menu. It just doesn't do anything except change the icon to vibrate, silent, whatever.
The only way I can get it to go to silent/vibrate is through the Sound menu in settings. Even then, I can't just check the Silent Mode box, I have to go to the volume dialog box and manually drag it all the way to zero. Then, if I hit volume up on the rocker or turn the sound up in any other way, I have to go back to Settings to change it again.
I'm going crazy trying to solve this. I've wiped my phone. It doesn't seem like a hardware issue since everything is working except the switch to vibrate/silent from sound-on mode. I've tried everything I can think of. I've had the phone for almost 2 years now, and I'm generally good at fixing this type of thing, or at least finding the answer on Google. Has anyone had this issue?

A good way to try and debug the issue would be to install Widgetsoid 2.x(https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2&feature=search_result) and place a switcher on your homescreen with the different sound options such as silent and vibrate. Then, toggle those switches and see if your status bar icon changes, and if the phone is actually in vibrate or silent mode.
If that doesn't work then I would suggest to try another ROM, or perhaps it's a hardware issue.
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know the results.
Go to Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Sound -> Silent State (check)
