Thanks for sharing; however you would have been better off posting in the Cases thread where we all go to see what's happening in the world of cases.

Agree with above poster, can a mod fix this?
Nice case! ive also ordered 1 last week at PDAir, the 1 without a screen, so easy acces, but fewer protection. I am hoping its more solid so i can put it in my back pocket without getting a red face everytime i realize i accidently put it there...
When did you order it and did it took long (i am eager to get mine, but now hope is gone till monday or tuesday...)
I disagree.
The "Cases" thread is too long and too complicated for discussing any one specific case.
Anyway I ordered mine just a moment ago and would very much like to hear how quick was the shipment, how snug is the fit and how reassuring the neoprene feels
It's a shame they opted for a plastic screen protector instead of either a window-less aluminum door or a transparent cover that lets you work with the touchscreen.

mohasea,
How thick is the plastic cover over the screen?
Does the plastic cover flex?
Do you think the plastic cover would prevent the screen being cracked if dropped screen down on ummm concrete?

I totally agree, wish they had a solid aluminum front door instead of the window cut-out covered in plastic or the other option they have of no plastic window cut-out. I would order one now, even not having my Leo yet, just because the front door was solid aluminum.
I am going to contact PDair and see if they would leave a few front doors out of the cnc cutter and have a full cover aluminum
Would you like one too, Duperman ?
Thank you,
Monnie
I have ordered an open screen case despite it may not fully protect the screen. HD2 has a glass screen and it is hard enough against scratch as what has been in iphone.

Absolutely
Mine, the one without screen plastic, is supposed to arrive between now and Jan 27th next year...(sometime)
take care
Anyone got theirs yet?
Would love to see some detailed photos and a review of the case pros/cons
Thank you,
Monnie
I'm debating whether to go with their leather flip case or this aluminum case...
I got this case and immediatly wished there was no plastic screen on the front door. So, I held it over some boiling water for about 2 mins and and then used my thumb nail (not kidding it was easy) to pry the plastic from the metal. The whole lot peeled off easily, i replaced the foam into the case and BAM perfect case. (be careful not to rip the foam, but if you do it will still stick back. also the foam stretched out a bit but pushed back into shape no problem. TIP: Work from the front side of the case, wedge your nail into the seem and loosen it all the way around. If it starts to get tough again, hold it over steam for a while longer.
Also.. when the plastic was still inplace and the case door was closed, there would be random screen presses and that was not cool, however now that the plastic is out, i can leave the door closed, press when I want too, AND there is no random case presses
I know this sounds like a poor fix, but it worked awesome and it looks like it was SUPPOSED to come this way.
Now all i need is for my zag shield (front only) to show up and im perfectly protected (minus water damage dammit)
awesome case guys im not kidding. you dont have to put the nubbin on in the back either so it doesnt add much bulk to teh phone. good luck yo.
Got mine too and I use the black open faced aluminum for local use and insert the whole unit;
aluminum case and all into the Maxpedition "Rat" wallet for carrying on belts etc.... http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...&idcategory=11
Like it alot....
FWIW
well, do not kill me if I say so .. but it is ugly as hell.
I do not say that it does not protect the phone, or the the finishing it's not ok .. but from a slim phone with a huge screen, it looks like a bullet proof brick with a screen.
The whole idea of an elegant smartphone it's gone.
Small question: what do you hate about the original leather case?
It is elegant, slim easy to use and protect the phone in normal use conditions or small accidents.
Capdase Alumor Metal Case
Bought this silicon w/ aluminium backcover case by CAPDASE in Hong Kong, adding a more "solid" feel over the pure silicon case. It comes with a CAPDASE screen protector as well.
http://www.mobimega.com/capdase-alumor-metal-case-htc-hd2.html
Beware that the silicon case may not glue well to the aluminum backcover (I think it's the factory problem) which may leave a small gap between them when you put the phone in. I have to apply some glue to fix that myself. Apart from the case is nice and not too costly.

Hi,
I am seriously thinking about ordering one for my Desire (A8181).
But what I'm not able to find, is how it works. I mean, you seem to describe the case as a silicone skin, with a metal plate sticked to it.
I thought it was more like a silicone skin with another semi-case to "clip" over the silicon....
Can you confirm if I am right or wrong?
And can you post multiple angles pictures?
Thank you, it would be much appreciated!
thanks but
so uglly
Ohh Great!
Thanks for the pictures! To me is one of the best cases i've ever seen.
They have these on Amazon for $10 less than the Seidio site. The case and clip combo, edited cause I didn't know if people may have thought it was just the case. Just ordered the black one. I was going to wait for the cheaper platinum branded one from Best Buy but it still shows backordered on their site. I had the same case for my Captivate and Inspire and really liked it. If you need a belt clip this is a great option.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006671MRG/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
My seidio active just came in from amazon, love it, although I had to pay the full 30.
pics/review/thoughts of your active and surface cases?
I'm looking for something with at least decent drop protection. Looks like Otterbox commuter fits the bill but I thought the active looked a little snazzier.
Here's the best photos I could manage with my old LG Optimus Get ready for the long blocks of text.
Lots of pros: Case fits perfectly along with exoskeleton, no need to worry about it being loose. Makes the phone a lot easier to grip. I no longer have problems gripping the phone, in whatever position I may be standing/lying. Case made of top notch material. Exoskeleton is made to absorb shock when the phone is dropped on its corners and it seems like it does just that.
Camera is not impacted by the case at all, or at least to the point where I cant tell. Everything is cut perfectly, both on the inner shell and outer shell. Doesn't add a lot of bulk to the phone itself.
Have a problem with accidently pushing the volume buttons? Not anymore. The soft inner case is solid enough so that the volume buttons/power button (which are covered) only get pressed when you want to.
Loved the kickstand the first time I tried it. I believe it was made to lock in one position. At first, I thought it was dumb that they made the kickstand open so that the charger port was pointed down towards the table but you can just flip the phone 180 degrees and use the kickstand that way too! Should be all the viewing angles you need.
Cons: The hard exterior exoskeleton does not cover the top and bottom of the soft case. I did not get the holster with it so I do not know how the holster will affect the softer plastic but it seems extremely durable. Not sure how long the kickstand will last but seems well built so hopefully the entire lifespan of my phone. Another con is that the kickstand juts out of the case a millimeter or two so that when you have the phone flat on a table, it doesnt sit flat on its back.
Does attract a bit of lint but hardly noticeable unless under bright lights, which is how I took the pictures
Overall, very nice and durable case. Wish it was a bit cheaper than 30 dollars so if you can snag a sale, good for you! Highly recommended it. I didnt even know seidio existed before reading through these forums and looking at the opinions others gave them and I am glad I went with it! Let me know if you have any other questions.
I just got my surface case in today and it is exactly what I expected. I've had the same case on my Captivate and Inspire. There are other cases I like better but the clip is a necessity for me. Fits like a glove and doesn't add much bulk at all.
It adds a decent amount of protection but don't expect Otterbox Defender kind of protection. Though I have dropped my Captivate and Inspire numerous times with this case on and never had any damage.
Pics later when I get a chance.

FYI I've had Seido Surface cases cause micro scratches on the plastic of phones before. Little pieces of dust/debris get stuck inside and the hard plastic of the phone causes it to scratch the plastic of the phone.
You can have this issue with any type of hard plastic case. I've seen it happen personally on the cheap generic Ebay cases and expensive Surface cases.
I've seen the build up but not scratches in the 3 that I have owned. But I'm also not looking for it either as I don't care if the plastic gets scratched up. I just need something with a belt clip that doesn't add much bulk and gives some protection in case of a drop.

The Incipio Feather Case is nice. It doesnt add much bulk, but still protects well.
Why not get a good screen protector and then run without a case. When the battery door gets to the point that its no longer attractive or you want to sell the phone buy a new battery door cover. A new battery door will cost you $7-$12 on eBay.
My Nexus has survived wars and it still looks good w/o a case. Like ^ this guy said, screen protector would suffice. I hate that extra bulk in my pocket.
I've got the trident aegis black-on-black for my NS4G (which I've had since last august) and think it's great. I had never been a "case" guy, and always kept my phones bare, but this phone was just waaaaaay too slippery. The smooth plastic back is one of the worst features of this phone and makes it really hard to hold on to if you're constantly juggling stuff in your hands and on the move. I dropped it a bunch of times in the first few days I had it before I just caved and ordered this case.
It's a two-piece case with a silicone full body case that covers the whole phone, and then a hard plastic outer shell that kind of clamps around the silicone.
The silicone part is supposed to absorb shock when you drop it, I guess. It has tabs that cover the headphone and usb ports, cutouts that are perfect for the camera and speaker, and mic, and is a bit thicker on the corners, which gives me some confidence and makes me think that they thought the design through well. I've dropped it a bunch, and watched my 1.5yr old son throw it to the ground, and no probs.
The plastic part wraps around that and is supposed to be good at reducing risk of damage during "crushing" impact. All I can say is that I actually shut my car's trunk on this phone accidentally and it was absolutely fine. It gives it gives it a sleeker feel and minimizes the "ruberry-ness", too.
It also comes with a clear screen protector that is fine, and I don't even notice. Since the screen is curved most people complain about the fact that screen protectors don't stick well on the edges, which is true, but the lip of the silicone case on the front covers this area, so you don't even notice it. I also don't notice a difference when using the touchscreen.
The silicone part does collect lint, so if you're OCD about that, it'll be annoying, but the protection makes it totally worth it for me. I'll gladly pay $30 for a rock solid case that collects a little lint rather than get insurance at $7.99 x 24 months = $192 over the contract. The one thing that's important to know if you use multiple batteries like I do, is that you have to put the silicon section into the hard plastic section first, pop all the buttons out of their holes on the hard plastic case, and then push the phone into the case. If you try to put the rubber part on the phone first, and then put the hard plastic on, the fit is so tight, it's tough to get the buttons to pop out. It was pretty frustrating before I figured this out, but now it only takes me a few seconds to do a battery swap. Finally, the case does add some bulk to the phone, but I personally don't think it's all that bad. The phone feels more solid in my hand and is much less slippery.
I've been meaning to write a review for this phone in the proper thread, but I don't like to review stuff unless I've really used it. So I pretty much forgot till I saw this post. Maybe I'll go link to this post in that thread too, but if you want pics, I remember seeing them in that thread, and in threads over on androidcentral or androidforums or something. Good luck with the case search.
I grabbed the Ballistic case for my Nexus. It's pretty rugged, stays on very well, and comes off easily when you want it too. Feels very solid in your hands.

Has anyone seen a metal (namely aluminium) back cover for the G4? I have access to a CNC machine and wouldn't mind a DIY project if its possible, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Has anyone seen anything other than plastic/leather/carbon fibre anywhere? I looked around the forums, ebay, and various modding communities but haven't seen one other than the aluminum bumper case. I'm thinking just a single piece for the cover made out of aluminum that snaps in. It may be tougher to remove than plastic/cf that bends in case I need to remove the battery/microsd but I'd be willing to put up with that (like back in the day on the HD2).
I have not seen one and I'm thinking it would have a very negative effect on reception.
I have not seen and is it necessary to protect LG G4 by metal case?
About the closest you're going to get is a SlickWrap. They offer high quality stick on material to give the phone a different look. Carbon Fiber, Metal, Leather, etc, are some of the materials they offer.
Seen a few on ebay;

Edit: just realized youre probably asking for an actual battery cover and not a case..

Where did you find the carbon fiber back?
Why not just paint a plastic cover chrome?
I haven't seen it, even i have three different G4 wireless charge back case( i got it as a honest review). i have tired plastic and FPC raw material. prefer plastic one. because FPC is very easy to break.
Metal ones won't exist, and if they do, they won't last very long. Can you imagine having to pry off a metal back that's thin? It would bend and you'd never be able to use it again :-\ ... Imagine how you take off your plastic / leather backs, bending it a lot. Now imagine doing the same with a metal one xD
metal will also screw up the nfc

I remember I had one for my Galaxy Note 2. It worked pretty good and my service was pretty much the same too. Only problem was it was a little more difficult to remove than the normal plastic back because it was much more sturdy then the original back. Got it off EBay.

Wouldn't it also help with heat dissipation? I'm thinking of getting one now for this very reason. Not that the phone gets all that hot, but a cool phone is a happy phone, and it would act like a heat sink, I would think...
Does anyone here know of a website that sells a back cover / backplate that is like the one on the Galaxy S5 (with dark blue backplate, the white one is slippery)? It doesn't have to have the same design but I am just looking for something that has a grip and is not slippery. Probably a matte now.
I miss how easy it is to hold my S5.
Note that I am NOT looking for a case. A skin can work but I don't think Dbrand or the others make the phone not slippery based on the many reviews I read (they only add a little bit of a grip).
I have a very slim Ringke Slim matte case for my G4 and it works but I'd rather not use a case as it makes it slightly bigger and gets stuck in my pocket.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: If anyone has the leather covers (not black as I have that one and it's slippery), please let me know the color and if it is slippery or not.
The colored ones aren't very slippery, the brown one is smooth, thus slippery

I have the "metallic" plastic back and when it's hot outside it's not that slippery but when it's cold (I live in Canada), it's very slippery.
I have the black leather that came with the phone, and also the orange-ish one. The black is not slippery at all for me, the Orange one is, but I have not used it regularly enough to see if it will get that way. The black cover was a bit slick, but after a couple of weeks, it lost that smoothness and the shine. Quite nice, for me.
I have the T-Mobile brown leather back, and while the leather has a smooth feel to it, it is not at all slippery. I use the G4 with one hand and two hands at times, and l have never felt like it was going to slide out of my hands.
If you want to make a plastic back less slippery, just use plastidip on it. You get to change the color to whatever you want and add a super amount of grip

That's a good idea. Never knew that existed. I'll see if I'll try it out or not as I read that for some it peeled off? Did you try it?
I did it, if you let it cure, it takes quite a bit to peel off but the more coats you do the better.

So you apply it once, then wait how long to apply second coat?
And after you apply last coat, how much to wait til you can use it?
Plasti-dip user here I use that stuff on everything, follow the directions on the can, ideally you want to apply 5-7 coats all within 1hr of each other but try not to exceed 2hrs between coats, this will seperate the coats rather than making them adhear as one strong coat, done correctly the plasti-dip will heal as one strong layer you can peal off in the future with some force without ripping into small pieces.
YouTube has tons of info on plasti dip you will be amazed all the fun things you can do with it, look into water based plasti dip if you want really funky designs.

Thanks! I'll look into that. Seems like it could be it. Wish there was a backplate like the one on the dark blue S5 that I could buy .
So, are there any good alternative back covers?
I really like the phone, but the plastic covers seem too cheap and ugly.

Back covers, I don't know of any really grippy ones. Tried searching but couldn't find good ones.
The case I have hardly adds bulk, it's hard plastic but has a matte coating, very soft and adds a good amount of grip, and it's quite solid. It's called Ringke Slim. Came with the phone when I bought it from someone else. You can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Case-Technology-Protection-compatible/dp/B00V3YHIQ6
You can check skins from dbrand and slickwraps but I don't think they provide the grip I'm looking for.
I still am trying to avoid having a case on all the time so what I learned from this thread is to try out egrips: http://www.egrips.com/products
I'm still not sure about egrips though as I read others complaining that they only stick for 2 weeks and some for a few months and then you have to apply another. Some complained that they fall off right away.
So, I kept researching and found some great grip tapes (gt-50 for phones and others) on amazon.com but I live in Canada and lots of products from amazon.com don't ship to Canada and they're not available on amazon.ca. Really annoying! Those seem really good.
On .ca I found some grip tape but it's not for phones and I'm not sure if it will work well on my G4.
I'll check eBay.

It is strange that for a phone with changing covers there are dozens of cases and not alternative backs.
I'm thinking for a skin maybe.

It adds only a few mm bulk, it's the thinnest case I think. It doesn't bother me at all. I still want a skin or a grip tape.

I have this and it's the best case I know for not adding bulk . quite good grip but I'm going to put carbon fibre wrap on as it looks a good fit.
About Skins, if anyone is interested, based on what I researched, I found that the leather series from Slickwraps offer the best grip for our G4. The only skins that surpass it in grippiness is the Natural Series from Slickwraps. From the natural series, the real leather one (it's actually real leather ) has a super grip as reviewers state. Sadly, no natural series yet for the G4 .
I don't have any skin but I think I may end up with the vinyl leather from slickwraps, which is made by 3M. I'm going to shop first for some vinyl tape at a store here to see if I could just use that instead of paying a lot for a skin.
