Hi, because Samsung-Firmware announced that they will update their site with firmware of the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant, I was wondering if this flashware can also flashed on a Galaxy S.
Why? I just want to experiment with it and look if the GPS problems are solved with the firmware of that devices (I never heard anyone talking of severe GPS problems on these devices, so)
It's different models with its own firmwares.

but then again, I see in the captivate forums that they are happily flashing Galaxy S firmware. They only have to update the kernel after an update to fix some little things:

can anyone help me, i just bought the Samsung galaxy s, and i was wondering if there was a an update for android. i have 2.1 and i heard there was a 2.2
my phone is Eclair, if thats any help .
It depends on your location and model. If you are with bell in Canada like me they are saying Dec 15th but many european markets already have it.
If you do not want to wait for an official release for your model there are many threads in this forum on using different methods for upgrading unofficially. Just make sure you read the sticky thread on the three button reboot first.

Hi frendz I have bell galaxy s i9000m in india. How I can update it to froyo 2.2 & can I update it with froyo firmware released for indian samsung galaxy s i9000.please help me.
1. Bell phones are known to have some issues like 3 button problems and Corruption of internal SD Card. Read the forums for all the Bell issues and know everything about a Bell Galaxy S, before trying to make any changes to it.
2. Do everything carefully. If you brick the phone, you will not be able to avail warranty because you are using it in India.
3. BELL GALAXY AND INTERNATIONAL GALAXY FIRMWARES ARE DIFFERENT. DO NOT UPDATE! THIS WILL RESULT IN A BRICK.
Hey,
I've asked myself if it's possible to flash any Gingerbread rom,Cyanogenmod, or the official one (from the 3G Version) to the Wifi-only G-Tab P1010?
Has anybody already done it and if what are your experiences?
Greetings
Sorry for spelling mistakes.
My guess is no...
Wifi Tab has down-graded hardware which is not competible with 3G Tabs.
I know, but shouldn't this problem mainly effects drivers, because even with the downgraded CPU/GPU it is still more powerful than a Nook Color, for example and Cyanogen is running on this one.
No. Its definitely impossible to sucessfully flash roms for P1000 on P1010 period. Of course in the future we will have custom roms for Wifi version but not now.

Thanks Nabu,
but do you or anybody else know something about an official release of Gingerbread to the Wifi-Version, I'm mean Samsung just annouced these updates for Galaxy Tab, does this mean both ones or only the p1000?
If anybodys knows something or has a link, post it.
Hello, I also have a Galaxy Tab Wifi Only and would like to know if anyone is working on a rom or any other kind of upgrade from the original 2.2.1 to a 2.3.x firmware.
Another thing is that I have installed KIES in my PC but it doesn't recognize my Tab and can't find the drivers anywhere.
I'm assuming this Tab in not upgradeable to 3.x right?
If anyone has any info its really appreciated.
Thanks

Ok do not.... DO NOT try to flash your GT-P1010 wifi only tab with anything else other than what a Dev says so, and I would wait a few more weeks as there is a honeycomb rom in the works at the moment but its not official yet and nothing ready even to try, but it will if it is possible (which think will not be too much of an issue) be posted in the Android Development threads, so keep an eye out there.
but let me stress right now, you can only root your device and over clock it.. thats just about it for now PLEASE DO NOT TRY anything else for now.
Would it be possible to make photosphere work on the Bell Galaxy S i9000m since it does have a gyroscope?

Are you using stock ROM or a custom ROM? If so, the custom ROM would require all of the gyroscope libraries and drivers in order to function, otherwise it is just sitting defunct in your phone.

I'm using pawitp's 4.2 preview right now, so I guess if a custom rom was made with the libraries and drivers then it could work in theory.

The GT-i9000m Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant in Canada was sold through Bell. It is not the same Vibrant as in the states, it is more like the i9000 Galaxy S. I cannot find it on gsmarena but http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2702&c=samsung_gt-i9000m_galaxy_s_vibrant is a link to some information about it.
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2702&view=1&c=samsung_gt-i9000m_galaxy_s_vibrant is even more detailed (same site)
I wish photosphere worked on this device as well, it would be cool. I don't know what it has in terms of gyroscope or whatever, but if the OP is correct it would be a nice gift to us Canadian i9000m owners. I'm still loving this phone.
Hey, I'm planning on installing recovery, rooting, and then installing a new rom, but I was wondering, since I already bricked an GSII mixing up different country version, is the Bell SGH-T679M the same as the Exhibit II? The only difference is the T-Mobile Exhibit II is missing the 'm' after T679

I already replied to your PM, but for anyone else wondering, the answer is YES, they are the same.
Samsung Exhibit II 4G
Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G
Samsung SGH-T679
Samsung SGH-T679M
ALL THE SAME!
I swear, this should be pinned... Would probably save a lot of confusion

Hello, are you on stock rom? If so, could you please upload your system/build.prop and /proc/cmdline?
Anyone, please upload the files, I can't find a firmware for your phone in the net. Or the complete firmware, if possible (sammobile doesn't have it).
@MightyPlatypus what is the stock Android version on your phone?
