Hi frendz I have bell galaxy s i9000m in india. How I can update it to froyo 2.2 & can I update it with froyo firmware released for indian samsung galaxy s i9000.please help me.
1. Bell phones are known to have some issues like 3 button problems and Corruption of internal SD Card. Read the forums for all the Bell issues and know everything about a Bell Galaxy S, before trying to make any changes to it.
2. Do everything carefully. If you brick the phone, you will not be able to avail warranty because you are using it in India.
3. BELL GALAXY AND INTERNATIONAL GALAXY FIRMWARES ARE DIFFERENT. DO NOT UPDATE! THIS WILL RESULT IN A BRICK.

Hi, because Samsung-Firmware announced that they will update their site with firmware of the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant, I was wondering if this flashware can also flashed on a Galaxy S.
Why? I just want to experiment with it and look if the GPS problems are solved with the firmware of that devices (I never heard anyone talking of severe GPS problems on these devices, so)
It's different models with its own firmwares.

but then again, I see in the captivate forums that they are happily flashing Galaxy S firmware. They only have to update the kernel after an update to fix some little things:

Whats the difference between my Galaxy S I9000M Canadian and USA Galaxy S I9000 .
Is there different rom or kerrnal ? and if not can i install all programs and updates as the I9000 you can?
I applied the Voodoo update and when my phone loads know it shows I9000M for 3 sec then shows I9000 with no M . it works and works very well just wondering if im going to have issues in the future because of this.

There's no such thing as USA I9000, the I9000 is from UK not USA
I9000 runs on 3G 900/1900/2100
I9000M runs on 3G 850/1900/2100
That's then only difference

Well, we ASSUME that's the only difference, but I doubt anyone has done enough research.
In the future though, we have no way of knowing that the ROM's will remain compatible. My suggestion is to continue using the firmware DESIGNED for your phone
The samsung galaxy S for rogers... is there froyo on it yet, OFFICIALLY?
How is it different from the bell galaxy S?
No
It's the Galaxy S Captivate where this forum is for the I9000 series which includes the I9000m by Bell.

can anyone help me, i just bought the Samsung galaxy s, and i was wondering if there was a an update for android. i have 2.1 and i heard there was a 2.2
my phone is Eclair, if thats any help .
It depends on your location and model. If you are with bell in Canada like me they are saying Dec 15th but many european markets already have it.
If you do not want to wait for an official release for your model there are many threads in this forum on using different methods for upgrading unofficially. Just make sure you read the sticky thread on the three button reboot first.

I just bought a used verizon tab without any verizon service. I think its currently on 2.2. Any way to upgrade it to gingerbread manually? I dont care about rooting, just want to upgrade to gingerbread.
Here is the info on my device:
Hardware ver I800.0.3
Model SCH-I800
Firmware 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3V.DL21
Kernel ver 2.6.32.9 root (at) SEI-28 #3
Build num SCH-I800.EC02
I have tried Kies and that does not recognize my tab.
Thanks!
Edit:
Ok I think SCH-I800.EC02 might be gingerbread. Im still confused though because gingerbread is supposed to be "2.3" but the firmware shows up as "2.2".
EC02 is not Gingerbread, it's still Froyo (Android 2.2). There hasn't been an official release of Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy Tab SCI-I800 (Verizon model). I'm getting very, very impatient and annoyed by it too, especially not that the Sprint model (VERY similar to ours) has already gotten that upgrade and we're still waiting without any details about when to expect it to come to us. VERY annoyed.
Guys read in the development section Verizon users have been able to flash the sprint rooted update and it works
