Is there a way to install Apss 2 SD on the Rooted version of the stcok Sprint ROM? Also is there anyway to remove those stupid Sprint crapware Apps like Sprint TV and the Nascar App?
nfinite has made a rooted version of the .6 update complete with a2sd: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703267
And to delete those kind of apps, you're going to need a file explorer (such as Root Explorer) or you can use adb (eg. ./adb rm Example.apk /system/app/)
As much as I love giving back to the community that has helped me learn so much, it feels like I've had to provide this link on how to remove apps at least 5 times the past week
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581635
People should really use the search function more.
This forum really needs some threads stickied

Wassup I need help unistalling sum programs I never use on my phone I'm running JAChero 2.63 it's the best hero rom I've flashed so far but I not there are a lot of big files I don't use like twitter google talk 6 of the 7 clocks and sum other widgets. I've searched how to do it and also used the "so you want to run hero" or sumthin like that guide. I usually don't post so believe me when I say I've searched. and everytime I use teminal to remove them I get "no such file or directory" error. I'm not to fimilar with adb so I'd rather use terminal thanks
Ok, first off i'll say i don't have much android knowledge. I did successfully root it following a video. I now have one click lag fix installed. Now, someone please answer these for me
1. Now that its already rooted successfully, is bricking still possible? or is that only something that happens during trying to root.
2. What is a good way to backup everything on my phone? and where do i find it?
3. What are cool apps or widgets to have that can only be used on a rooted phone?
4. Lastly, will someone point me in the direction of a manual or instructions on how to install custom roms and how to get froyo.
Thanks!!
i'd like to know that too...

1. No
2. Titanium Backup from the market
3. I don't know but I don't care much for widgets.
4. Check sticky posts here and the dev board of galaxy s
try SetCPU for conserving/overclocking your device,
Titanium Backup is godsend! well worth the price
Try rom manager from the market, it will assist in making a more comprohensive backup
Most custom roms should have a good install guide with them and aslong as you read it first, download everything first, and not get scared off by the reference to all the diferent csc files its qctually fairly easy. In the event that it does go wrong it probably was a user error but easily fixed by going over the steps again (i myself only just flashed my first android last weekend, and the improvement is worth the time and small hassle of learning to do it your self).
Some good apps are ShootMe (screenshot app), rescan media root (controls the media scanner function), cache cleaner, and there are some wifi transfer app that need root to work (still fairly new/beta/buggy). Not root but the xda forum app aswell
Hope that helps a bit

I am looking for a good root file manager - one that allows me to see whole device. Anyone know of a good one?

Root Explorer is the best file manager i've come across, works great and well worth the price.
Best apps (I know these dont all require root) I've come across are
"App 2 SD" - This moves your installed apps (that are compatible) to your external memory card to save phone memory
"Titanium backup" (root) - As mentioned above, its a great backup tool for your apps and settings
"CacheMate" (root) - clears your apps cache, helps speed things up
"MixGet" - increase headphone volume, very useful if you find output it quiet, be careful not to deafen yourself
"PhoneMyPC" - Connect via wifi to your computer and control, useful if you want to be lazy and sit back to move the mouse
Best thing to do is goto market and search "root", that will return the majority of them
"Handcent SMS" - Very customisable sms app, much better than stock samsung one
Good games:
Angry Birds - This is free but includes ad's (turn off internet on phone so they dont display)
Talking Tom cat - repeats everything you say in a funny voice
Need for speed Shift - Excellent graphics, really good racing game
Asphalt 5 - (can get this free from samsung apps)
Widgets I use:
Accuweather - self explanatory, great for the days weather, includes a clock (find this on samsung apps on F.W JPM) available in market
Facebook - Facebook Status updates
If I think of any others I'll let you know
hello everyone again!..today I have a puzzling question for you to help me with
today I rooted and flashed MIUI on my Gf's Droid 1 (Droid OG?). Since she came from an iPhone (and i successfully convinced her to go back to her old Android device)...I figured MIUI would be a good transition.
...Well..I have a problem...
I want to change the play store to a play store mod to where it's not device filtered a Google Play Store Modded apk...
....and change that broken and useless MIUI search and replace it with google search. And there is a way to do it.
my problem is that both of these processes require /system/app being edited...but when I copy or paste a file in /system is not enough space in the "/system" partition???
ROOT EXPLORER says: I have 2.15mb free of 138.22mb
SOLID EXPLORER says: I have 4kb left
I'VE SET ALL FOLDERS IN "SYSTEM" TO CHECK ALL PERMISSIONS AND SET SYSTEM TO R/W. and even used the R/W App in the play store...there is never enough space!...originally coming from Jelly Bean for Droid OG..I figured the ROM change would give me more space..it's all the same with any ROM I use...I even formatted everything individually in CWM..i'm not a noob or dummy with this and searched the forums first before requesting assistance
Is this just a internal memory limitation that comes with the phone?...if so...I'm very disappointed..but not surprised..due to it being one of the first Verizon android devices..(hell..I'm surprised I could get jelly bean on it!)
OR..is there a way where I can allocate more partition space so "system" won't be so cramped??...
EDIT: it says I need BUSYBOX. will install and report back. WON'T INSTALL.
Thanks for your concern = ]
guess nobody has a clue or doesn't care about the Droid OG anymore
I'm a Milestone user (europian version of Droid) so I'm not too familiar with the Droid, but on thing is common in these devices.
The free space on the internal memory is very limited. If you type in the Terminal Emulator the df command, you can check how much free space you actually have.
One other thing, maybe you should ask around in the droid development section. More people read those threads.

it's against XDA policy to ask questions in the "Development" section. Or else I would have done that
Terminal emulator command "df' says that I have 98% used in the "system" partition...holy balls!..is there anyway to make that smaller??
You could delete stuff like LiveWallpapers.apk from /system/app or some ringtones from idontknowwhereexactly...

thanks!...will do that..anything else that I can remove?
Basically you can remove everything you don't need - if you know that you don't...
With Facebook turned off, the First seems like a terrific phone, particularly for those who do not want (what can be confusing) Manufacturer's extras. I found the S4 particularly confusing AND annoying, particularly after coming from an unbranded, generic Chinese manufacture phone.
Although the First stock ROM is nearly bloat-free, is there a "GE" ROM available for the First that does not lock-in the AT&T extras such as their tethering check, Free Wireless app, Video Messaging, etc? I figure I would rather add features than have them as default.
Mine is due tomorrow!
Thanks --LS
Not yet. I'm not sure if cm will support the first.
Hopefully someone with the know how will work on getting is android 4.2.2
Was your Chinese phone stock android?

Absolutely Android v4.0.3. It was a MTK6575 Android (w007) iPhone clone. Really nice until the backlight (or LCD) died after 7 months. So it still works, just can't tell what you are doing.
Tried a Galaxy S4 Active with an ATT ST SIM,, but it was REALLY locked down and the ROM crazy busy.
I figured the First can be my next phone unless it becomes a "holding pattern" for the Moto X or Nexus 5
You can freeze some apps and delete others via ADB shell with root access. Or clean out a stock rom before loading.

Thanks for the links. Pretty sure I don't know enough to "clean out" a ROM, though, which is why I was looking for the "pure" ROM. I'll Google for some guides. Any suggestions?

Bloatware is usually in "\system\app\" alongside essential system apps. If you're not sure about an app just Google the filename.
To clean an installed rom use ADB with root permissions. If you boot your phone into recovery you can use these commands without obtaining root in ADB shell.
Code:
adb shell
cd /system/apps
ls
rm ATT_myATT.apk
To delete those files from a ROM zip, you need to be in Linux. The reason is Android contains files that have the same names but only differ in caSE (because its design was so carefully thought out), so you need case sensitive file system support to save the zip. I just load up an Ubuntu live CD or USB drive to do the dirty work.

Thank you. That is certainly within my level of experience, as is using Root Explorer to change permissions or delete apps. I thought you were going to tell me to use a 'kitchen' and decompile. I think I'm ready to go!
I just use titanium backup to uninstall bloatware lol or use root explorer system/app/delete whichever

I was confusing myself on how to get s off all the time and just waste my time while accomplishing nothing. Why did I want S-Off? Because I hated how stock Sense 6 in general is sluggish and a little slow. I'd like to know if there is a ROM 4.4.3 with absolutely no mods or other extra stuff to the phone. Like GPE but with Sense 6 skin. I'd highly appreciate it if it also contains OTA updates. If it doesn't, well then. Thanks in advance. Peace .

All you need is ARHD 71 and ES File Manager
after you setup the rom just use the file managers Root privileges / set system to r/w and root to r/w and debloat it yourself. their are list on the forums on what can be safely removed, just search for them.
Most thing's like IMEXT9xxxxx.apk are easy to find and delete.
The stuff you can delete is in system/app and system/priv-app
be sure you have a working nandroid on the phone incase you delete the wrong thing and can't boot the phone

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with me. I actually looked around a bit, found a de-bloated Sense 6 ROM. Thanks for your help anyways. Clicked the thanks button.
