Email ENTER'ing - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
First of all, this problem occurs on every ROM I used so far. Currently I'm on the 24/7 Energy Rom.
The problem is that when I send an email from my HTC, the message is without enters. So basically it's like this:
Hello! This is a test! Greetings Sent from my HTC
Instead of:
Hello!
This is a test!
Greetings
Sent from my HTC
How can I solve this?
Also, it's only when I reply to someone's email and not by starting a new one.
So everything is ok when I create a new email.
Any help is appreciated!

Does your SIP have an enter key? If not change it.

What do you mean with SIP?
How can i verify it has a enter key?
Weird that it's only a problem when I reply to someone...

Oh and it seems to happen on my Hotmail account only... not on Gmail

Sorry, SIP is your "Soft Input Panel", your onscreen keyboard
Some SIPs allow you to swipe down for enter, others have an enter key.
It should send the way it is previewed.
The enter key is usually denoted with "<---|"

Yea i press that button, but it doesn't work when I reply with my hotmail account...
With Gmail it works and also when I create a new email (both on hotmail and gmail)
Any ideas?

Might just be a hotmail bug, sorry, never seen that before

Need to Remap HTC Home Messaging to Outlook Email

I know that this was addressed before, but after searching LITERALLY for about 30 minutes I cant find the registry edit needed to make the email tab in HTC Home default to Outlook (and not whatever the last previously used messaging program was). Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
bump, someone please reply
bumping..........
I recall this being discussed quite a bit in the Hermes forum, and my conclusion was that the email icon has a mind of it's own and is not controllable by any reg settings or xml file. On my Hermes, it would always open the last one I used, but on the Tilt (with a later build of HTC Home) I always get the 'select an account' screen.
no matter, use the hard button for messaging. easier to hit without the stylus anyway. just keep hitting the button to cycle through your messaging accounts.
while looking for something else, i stumbled on this tidbit...
When I press the Email button on the "Home" tab, it takes me to my MMS/SMS messages. How can I fix this?
This is a known issue with the HTC Home Plugin. The workaround is to create a POP account on your device, then press the Email button again. It should now take you to your email messages. You can then remove the POP account if unneeded.

Numbers in messages are normally underlined and when you quick tap them (not tap and hold )they are passed to the phone verification screen which asks if it is correct to dial (ie country and area code OK) and you just hit the green call button. This function is default on all WM devices.
Have you added some software that has changed this?

Thanks, I'm not aware of anything. I'm using a t-mobile mda vario iii.
Does this feature appear in calendar notes etc or just email?
thanks

just tested it, works fine in email but not in calendar? damn thats total pants! What ever could the developers be thinking.
/sigh , I'm really trying to like this device and get used to it (i have 7 days) but so far there are little things like this which I use daily which will make my use of it so annoying.

I'd love to be able to tap on a number in my calendar notes to dial..
All my appointments and contact details are stored in the calendar yet I have to write the number down, exit calendar and go to the dialer.
I don't recall ever being able to do it with any version of WM.

Pocket Outlook autocomplete in "To" Field

Hello
I am trying to turn on autocomplete in Pocket Outlook on my Touch Diamond, like it worked on the Kaiser. Autocomplete/ word-completion works everywhere else, but not in the "To" field, even if i typed that e-mail 100x times or used a e-mail address from a contact.
I just wanted to type a few letters and get a list of all the possible matches from cache and addressbook.
Any idea how to solve this issue ?
any idea ?
Is there really no one else out there having, this problem or any idea how to solve this issue ?
I am getting ready to order my Diamond, and I have a fear of this as well.
I think that this is a limitation of Windows Mobile, as on my mogul the contact auto-complete will work with the physical keyboard, but not with any of the on-screen one's.
If someone were able to find a fix it would be greatly appreciated.
Works fine here - the name doesn't "autocomplete" while you are typing but upon tapping Send suggests a match if the string hasn't been matched before.
yes i know that feature, but as far as i know this feature doesn't use the cached names i recently typed, it just uses the names/mails from contacts.
Anyway the "old" Kaiser with WM 6.0 could do this autocompletion on the fly, so i just can not understand why the Diamond should not be able to do the same thing while i am typing.
Hmm.
Occasionally I forward emails with my Diamond from my work exchange email address to my personal pop email address [email protected]_example_domain.com. Merely typing "work" or even "wo" and pressing Send fires off the email with no problem. But typing "allen" then pressing Send brings up a picker even when the address should be cached...
I've just fired up my Artemis (unbranded & WM6) and that displays a picker as soon as one begins to type....never mind.

How do I stop accidental email sending

When I'm compiling emails on my TyTN II, I find that often my email will be unintentionally sent when I'm only part way through due to a keyboard combination being used. Section 7.7 of the TyTN II user manual (page 134) refers to keyboard shortcuts and mentions holding down the S key is a shortcut to send the message but as in this (much) earlier thread I found relating to Accidentally pressing keyboard shortcut to send SMS, it refers to SMS sending and I'm having the issue with email. Is this pressing the softkey still the cause (I'm pretty sure it seems more like pressing a combination of keys around the S that are doing it in my case). More importantly, has anyone found a Cab, fix or even a WWE HTC ROM to stop this happening?
It's very annoying and I would have though some solution must have been found by now. I'll mention it in a letter to HTC but based on their past 'performance', I don't hold out much hope of a quick (or even eventual) fix from them. I'm therefore hoping for a solution from forum members so please let me know.
For me, its happened when i accidentally hit the send soft key between the R and T. I know its pretty bad sending half an uneditted email to a client and then having to send another email explaining why it happened and carrying on from there.. very unproffesional.
My solution to this problem is to simply cut and past the recipients email address from the to field to the subject field. Then once i'm done editing and everythings squared off and ready to go, i'll just cut and paste from the subject field back into the to field.
hope this little work around helps you. As for a hotfix or a confirmation message before sending it, i haven't heard of one.
I press that goddamn softkey all the time.....
It is really embarassing when you send a message half complete!
Good tip about the subject line
AEBPlus
I use AE Button Plus and have set the soft keys to ignore a single press. If I need to access the single-press application, then I just need to press on the screen.

Thanks for that work-around, that'll certainly do the trick if I remember to blank the 'to' field before creating the email. I've also emailed the AE Button Plus email address to see if they are willing to make a version of the product that works just with the TyTN IIs email and SMS program when thats in operation. I've also unticked the 'send messages immediately' box in my Windows Live Options on the TyTN II (since I use my Hotmail account through this device). I've found that this puts my email into the drafts folder and it's only when I then send the draft that it actually leaves - it's a bit of a pain though given keyboard short cuts are supposed to help rather than hinder.Definitely one for HTC and Microsoft to address.

checking mail with one screen action

I was wondering if someone founded a way to check mail very quickly ?
I mean from the home screen, only one or two screen touch instead of having to enter outlook, then selzct the account then send/receive
Thanks
Create a shortcut or a script with the following command, where [Name] is the exact name of the mail account:
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -Service "[Name]" -Sync
Thanks for your answer
Sorry I might be ingnorant but I don' know how to do that ...
Would you help ?
Thanks
