More info is needed if you want help. What recovery are you using, what roms have you tried (there are many cyanogen versions so just saying that doesn't help), what radio version, rooted -- if so how, and anything else you can give. If this is the only problem you have you are in the minority.
The best way to know if this is a rom or another issue is to go back to absolute stock and see if the problem persists.
Also attach a logcat so we know exactly what error it gives. Saying something doesn't work when the majority of users have that feature work is an indication of a PEBKAC.
It also could be a SD issue as well. Have you unmounted the SD card and then installed apps from that point? And then remount the SD card afterwards?
And make sure you have enough space for user apps...
Are you using apps2sd with an ext partition? Could be your ext partition that's corrupted.
Repairing it in recovery might help.
Thanks all of you ,,
Android central just published an article talks about this exact problem and their solution works like a charm

I had this problem too, for the longest time. I don't even know how it started. I thought i tried everything to fix it. My final solution was to redo my Apps2SD Dalvik-cache. I am Using Darktremor A2SD.
First I upgraded to Darktremor version 2.7.5.2 (installable zip).
Then via ADB Shell i did a "a2sd nocache" to dump the Dalvik back into the internal storage and remove the Dalvik-Cache to SD flag *Phone Reboots*
Then I did a "a2sd cachesdreset" to turn the Dalvik-Cache to SD flag back on and erase the Dalvik-cache. *another reboot*
Then i did a "su" "fix_permissions" After this, i was able to install everything without error.

Thanks for this, I was getting really frustrated trying to fix my android market problem. Wasn't able to install or update any apps, whether on sd or not. I have GRI40 (2.3.3) w/a2sd ext3. Unmounting/remounting sd card wasn't working, clearing market cache + data didn't work, nor did clearing all google apps caches + data + clearing dalvik cache. I tried the above and it worked great (didn't do the fix_permissions part but i did do the "a2sd fixapk" command in the terminal app).
I have a Nook Color that was running the Cyanogenmod nightlies. After shutting it down, it would not boot again.
Since it still boots into recovery, I tried reflashing cyanogenmod, a recovery zipp that was supposed to restore the boot partition, dding boot.img and system.img to the internal memory, a total wipe of every partition, flashing with the latest version of clockwork, along with .7, the stuff mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699, and flashing "nook color return to stock".
Although all flashes completed successfully, the device still won't boot without the sd card. Is there a method I'm missing?
Been in the same boat myself as well as many others. I found that to get it to boot correctly again do this. Use this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690) and downlaod the "Remove CWR" file, you'll also want to download the repartition-boot-with-stock.zip which is the last link in the OP right under the Remove CWR link. Once you download each file copy them to a bootable sdcard. Then pop the bootable card into the nook and power it up to into CWR off the sdcard. After that install the Remove CWR zip first, then follow up by installing the repartition-boot-with-stock.zip. Once all is said and done power the Nook off by holding the power button in. take the sdcard out and then power it on. Odds are it will get stuck again but you should be stuck on the N screen. If so power it off and then put your bootable sdcard back in the device so you can start fresh reinstalling CM7 & gapps.
If you repartition boot, cwr will be removed in the process. No need for the second file..

In theory it should and you are totally right on but I've personally seen it where even after repartitioning the boot it still will not boot correctly for whatever reason. That said personally I've found it just as easy to take the extra step to make sure it gets cleared up as it takes a matter of a couple extra seconds to do it.
Thanks, I'll try that.
Followed instructions exactly, but the thing still won't boot. I must have F'd up my /boot partition pretty badly.
Edit: Wiped every single partition and cache, then flashed, now it works. Thanks guys
I am having this same problem and have a question about the options to fix it. I have CM7 stable on my NC and it worked untill I formatted the SD card and rebooted.. now it just gets stuck at "touch the future of reading" screen.
Is it possible to remove CWM without harming the CM7 install? and still be able to boot to CM7?
Hey guys, so I was trying to get darktremor to work on my phone, got it installed and it booted up fine. I downloaded the darktremor app from the market and ran that, I selected the 2 options to move my data\app and I forget what the other one was to my sd-ext, After that it rebooted and now I can't get passed the "X" boot screen.
I know it's a problem with the sd card because if I take out the sd card my phone boots up just fine.
Thanks guys

Yes I did. I ended up just factory resetting my phone and using RA Recovery instead of clockwork. Works great now. Wish I didn't have to restore it because I lost some stuff but it appears clockwork 3.x has problems with ext partitions :/
Note: This is a long one, theres a tl;dr at the bottom of the page.
So, yesterday I bought the XDA Premium app from the market. I installed it, used it for a few hours, rebooted my phone, tried to open it back up, "Failed to load activity" error or something along those lines.
So then I looked it up on the market, it wasn't recognizing that it was installed, so I reinstalled it again. Used for a few hours. Rebooted my phone, same issue. This has happened a few times.
So I figured maybe some data was corrupt. So I installed it from the market, uninstalled it, tried to reinstall it again and it said not enough storage space on my phone. I looked and I have 2.77GB free space on internal storage.
So I figured I'd move some apps to the SD card anyways. Started moving all apps from my phone to SD using the App2SD app (Which I think just redirects to the application's page in settings). Everything seemed to work fine.
Rebooted my phone, and some icons on my screens in LauncherPro didn't load. Tried opening several of them.. all of them "failed to load activity". I'm talking about at least a dozen different programs here that had somehow gotten corrupted? Rebooted again, they didn't come back. Reinstalled a few of them and rebooted and one still wouldn't open.
So I'm restoring from a CWM backup I did just before I went to bed last night. Any opinions on what might have gone wrong or what I could do differently? Is 2.77gb reserved space for texts/cache/etc or was the "not enough storage" error incorrect?
tl;dr: xda premium was corrupting/wouldn't install because I *only* had 2.77gb free internal storage? Tried moving things with app2sd and many, but not all, corrupted after a reboot. Rebooted a second time, didn't solve any issues.
Don't use apps2sd with this phone. Go to settings, applications, media area, click on everything with a check mark, move to phone. This will solve your problem.

So, as I mentioned above, I performed a recovery using an image I had created in CWM late last night.
Just for kicks I tried moving a single app to SD to see what happens.. Google+ went from 28mb on internal memory, to 8mb on SD. Restarted, it was corrupted and not even showing up in application list.
So whats the deal with our phones? They can't move anything to SD card without corrupting? Hopefully this is patched as I appear to be hitting the artificial 2.77gb cap on apps?
So.. my experiment with JUST moving Google+ to SD failed more miserably than I originally thought. Not only did G+ corrupt as I mentioned above, but my phone also started freezing again and VNC Viewer also corrupted itself.
So I had to perform a second recovery on my phone this morning. Ugh. Having way too many issues with this phone considering I only bought it maybe 2 weeks ago.
One more update.. hope someone can help me with this.
So I performed a recovery with CWM. Since then I have not done ANY App2SD attempts or anything. This is a recovery from before I ever did any of that.
Now, whenever I uninstall any app, when I reboot my phone several apps will corrupt. These are apps that I had used App2SD on before I had done the recovery. Its like, when I uninstall an app it finds some data from prior to the recovery and that corrupts the app...
Any way to fix this? I looked at my SD card and the only data on there is Titanium Backup data, CWM backup data, and a few zip files that I had put on there. I told ES File Manager to show hidden files and there is nothing on my SD that I see that could be making Android corrupt these files...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. I'm starting to thing I'm going to have to do a fastboot recovery to completely stock and start over again..
If you restored a recovery, wasn't that recovery with apps2sd as well? Does that make sense?

Here, I'll lay it out a bit more clearly:
1) Midnight last night I performed a backup with CWM. Everything was working fine, I hadn't done any changes or App2SD things yet.
2) Woke up at 10AM today and this was when all of the issues covered in this thread started. After 10AM today was when I first attempted to use App2SD Pro to move apps around.
3) I recovered using the recovery from part 1 of this message
4) I'm still having issues with programs corrupting even though I'm using an image from Midnight yesterday.
How can I completely wipe my phone then restore with Fastboot? Wipe SD, internal, everything.

So it appears I fixed my problem.. even though I have run two complete restores using a backup from prior to my issues, some apps were still set to go on my SD card. So I guess a CWM backup doesn't store all file system data.

Also some apps try to load on SD card watch out amazon apps. I've put 300plus sized various apps on my phone and didn't crack 2gb. And really 200apps or more your not going to have time for them.

Yea, the XDA Developers app tries to load on the SD card by default. That was the entire root problem that caused all the above posts...
Hopefully Motorola fixes this SD card issue in the next patch.
Hey.
I have a problem with my N1.
I use the Evervolv Rom by Texas. Yesterday I the problem occured that it was impossible for me to install any app from the Market. Everytime I try a message "Not enough space" pops up. When I try to restore an app with Titanium Backup it loads for forever, but TB shows that there is enough ROM, Internal, A2SD storage available.
Then I tried several things like repartionating my SD-Card (using GParted - ext3 1,5 GB), using a different BlackRose hboot. I even tried this CM9 ROM, but the problem stays the same.
Now I have no idea how to solve this problem
Could my SD card be broken?
Greetings
crush41
did you activate the a2sd in terminal?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Yes, but i left the dalvic internal
You should try these:
a2sd install (folowed by "yes" and "yes")
a2sd xdata
It should give you a huge internal space.

Seems to help, but I find it unusual that A2SD did just now, and now despite the fact that i wiped several times it only works with this command.
Now several apps have a force close when i try to start them... i cleaned dalvic cache and cache but it stays..
ask the master himself or wipe everything 3X b4 you install rom if all else fails FLASH another rom if it continues then get a new sd card if that dont help your phone it self might be the problem .... just giving some ideas ....
A2SD and all it's info is here maybe this might help you bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940 HOPE I HELPED IN SOME WAY
Thank you guys... I checked everything and now brought a new SD... looks good so far
