Default phone number - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyway to change the default phone number in CM6? For example, I've chosen my girlfriends mobile accidentally as the default number to be dialed when I click on "call" in contacts, but I would rather it give me a list of choices. Is there a way to do it without wiping?
Thanks!

I can't find a way to clear the default but you can long press another number and set it as the default. So you could create a dummy number, set it as default and then delete it. This brings back the number prompt.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that grey square? why can I not customise myself?

It's taking the picture from your Google account. So you can either change it there or create a new contact with your info (phone, email, etc) and assign whatever photo you want to it.
I have a google picture but that doesn't show. I also tried creating a me contact but that does not work

The answer was already posted.
Create a new contact for your self with your phone number in it. Set your picture.
Once youve made a contact with your number and picture, it doesnt automatically create a picture for you in 'me'.
What I had to do was press on the grey 'me' icon in messaging, and then press on the contact info. Then press menu and edit contact, then press menu again and 'join' with the contact with your name and photo.
If the phone number reported by your SIM matches a contact for yourself with a picture, that should mean your picture ends up in the grey square.
Only problem is, if you have an oddball provider like Mobilicity Canada who doesn't program their SIM cards properly, you may have "unknown" as the phone number reported by your SIM, and any attempt to change that number on the SIM will fail.
Well I don't know what you guys are doing but I can't create a picture. I tried making a contact with my name and with the name me it all doesn't work foot me.
Oh well happy new year

All i had to do was add a contact as myself and name it "me" and put my number there and picture of course
You need to put your sim card in an "old" phone and save your number manually in the simcard, then put it back in nexus, and make a contact.

The OP should specify which provider they are using. Some providers write-protect their SIM cards so that you can't save your number on it.
The old phone method is what I found on google. It sound retarded and I don't have an old phone
But what's funny is that one says old phone and the other says I can just add a contact.
The latter doesn't work for me. I wonder how it does for them.

Just check-out the phone number in settings/status and create contact with that number. Android will recognize it.
For example: In settings i have "My phone number"
+82-109-xxx-xxxx
So i created contact with number (Didnt add "+82" because its a country code) 109-xxx-xxxx, give it my name and my photo and it worked.

It doesn't work because you need to do BOTH. You need to add your number to the sim card and add yourself as a contact.

Phonebook - Default Action

I have set the default action of my contacts to a particular mobile or land line.
When i click on that persons picture in favorites it still brings up a list of number options for that person and doesn't directly dial the default number that i have set?
In this pop up for the person the default action just shows the default action as "Call" and not the number that I specified.
Is this the normal behavior?? Can someone confirm this issue.
Thanks very much

[Q] Can't Change Voicemail Number

I have an unlocked Bell HTC One, currently on the Rogers network.
The voice mail number in the phone does not match the voice mail number that Rogers gave me. When I go to the settings to change the number it does not allow me. It doesnt let me select the number, its kind of washed out and no options available on the screen.
Tried searching everywhere... I would really like to have the functionality of holding the 1 key to dial.
Screenshot attached.
*edit - I unlocked with with a pin number. Have not touched the software on this one yet. It's completely stock.
I think you can just go into the build.prop and change it to whatever you like. Make a backup first just in case though...

That is the Rogers voicemail number. It's read straight from your sim card. No need to change it.

Text Messages mixing up

The feature of the HTC One consolidating all messages to under the same person with different phone numbers is annoying for me.
many people i know have a personal and work mobile phone, so 2 numbers.
but the messaging app consolidates and puts it under the same name, so everytime i want to text i have to go to the menu and select which to send to
is there a way to remove this feature, or the only way is to create 2 contacts for the same person in the phonebook?
TIA
I think you could go to edit contact and unlink the numbers. Not positive but I think it could work.

thanks for the suggestion, haven't tried it out since i downloaded the Go Pro sms right after posting
i think i'll just stay with this app, more options and customizing

[Q] How to change/remove a contact's primary number?

For some reason with many contacts; there is a number set as a "Primary". I didn't choose any of these numbers to be "Primary" and they are the first choice whenever I'm making a call or sending a message. How do I change/remove that? How to make a phone number primary?
I'm on 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5. All my contacts are also Google contacts.
Thanks in advance!

Open the ''people'' app, select a contact then tap and hold the number you want as ''primary'', it will open a contextual menu. Select ''set as primary number''.
Hope this help.

There is no such an option to set as primary. I tap and hold the number and I get only the options in the attached screenshot?

Really strange, look at my menu:
Maybe it's because your contact are saved on the sim and not on the phone?

Very strange, we are running the exact same software.
I have zero contact on the SIM, but all my contacts are Google contacts as well -I save all my contacts to my Google account. Maybe that's the reason? If so, do you have any idea how to change the primary number changed then? Are your contacts also being Google contacts?

my contacts are also google contact. Even some contact are linked to facebook/hotmail accounts and still have the possibility to set a primary number.
Maybe you could create a test contact with different parameters and see if you can make it work..

"Mark As Default" option disapeared from Andrpod 4.3 ?
Hello,
There is more than 2 hours that I am searching for a solution to this problem.
According to my search, it seems that the option menu to set a default phone number in a contact (if we have several numbers in a contact) has disappeared since android 4.3. That's probably why alray and M_Shaaban don't have the same menu, they have a different android version ?
Could someone confirm this info ?
Is there a way to get back this menu to set a primary or default phone number in a contact with a option menu as "Mark As Default" or "set as primary number"
Sorry in advance for my english, I'm french
I'm on KK 4.4.2, Sense 5.5. I have the option to set a number as primary. Make sure you're selecting a number that isn't the primary number. Long press that entry until the menu pops up. "Set as primary number" should be there. If you bring up the menu on the number that is already the primary, the option will not be there.
