I'm new to this section of the forum as I just received my Legend today. I've had my Magic since December. In the Magic forum there are a lot of sticky threads with guides to rooting etc. I can't seem to find any here though. I've tried to use the MoDaCo guide but I've ran into some problems.

Hi I had a similar problem as you, so i flashed official 2.03 ROM and used it until those amassing guys found a way to downgrade back to 1.31 and then i decided to try once again. And guess what? It worked! After downgrading and re-creating gold card i was able to root my Legend. Try to do the same, maybe that will work for you as well.

Well, I'm still at 1.31.x. I created a goldcard successfully and used it for Step 1 of the MoDaCo guide, but it said I needed regular SD card for Step 2, so I reformatted it and I'm stuck at Step 2. It won't load the custom recovery
take the update.zip from fake-flash

boot with volume down and goto recovery when exclemationsign press vol up and power, and you should be able to get update.zip running

Thanks a lot! Now I'm able to boot the Clockwork Recovery I though you had to have root to run it. Now let's see if I'm able to flash a custom ROM.

i tried to root my legend several times but it doesn´t work
i´m now at 1.31.177.3 rom and 430..01 bootloader, 've made a goldcard 3 times now but everytime there is the same problem...
starting pauls r4 step1-windows.bat in the cmd and it always hangs on writing 'zip'..., could it be that my sdcard is not 'allowed' to be a goldcard or something?

Are you experiencing any problems when creating the goldcard?

hi,
I tried this tool the first time but after clicking patch mmc i always get 'An error occured Object reference not set to and instance of a object.' So i created the goldcard by myself with the modaco guide.
Today i tried this tool over at another computer and created the goldcard successfully but the .bat also stuck at the same point...
Not running windows 7 x64?
Had similar problem on my computer/phone for some days ago
But then I tested on other computer with windows xp and all worked.
No i have on all my computers WIN7 32Bit.
I thougth i could test the r4-root at the computer where the goldcard tool already worked and yes, its looking good so far (step1 complete)
I don´t know why nothing worked on my computer but its okay when it works on another haha

Did you also run step1-windows.bat on the other computer? Is ADB and fastboot working?
as u can see one post above step1 worked fine und also step2 is completed

Great I never got step 2 to work, but I just installed another ROM.

i have tried to update my htc with a new . after several times it start to upadate while it stopped at 2% and told me connection error. i tried to start on my htc and now it says "you have illegally gained this rom, this rom is only for ace-hellas"

yes man. i tried to flash with mary 3.3.5sl and hardspl obliron...what did i do wrong? how can i fix it?
when i try to install starts but at 2% stops with error connection

flashing migh work but i dont have an sd card.
and yes i have tried to run sspl in device and it didnt worked.

I'm trying to upgrade my Meteor to a WM6.1 version. I tried several approaches to flash the rom two nights ago but nothing worked. I CID unlocked the device, but whenever the ROM flashing tool tried to reset the device (i guess to put it into bootloader) the device just switched off and never came back on again.
Is it possible to upgrade the device from bootloader itself? if so, what ROM flashing tool should i use? Any other suggestions?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I had some experience till I combined two way by application tool and SD flashing. That means I load BREEIMG.NBH into SD card (FAT32 format), then I start runme.bat and when I push Enter button in the same time power off and camera button .. this only works for me on my Vista OS.
OK, great, sounds promising... i don't quite follow the steps though, would you mind being more specific?

I'll try.
If you already have unlock phone, you can start.
1. Download zip file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=383244 here.
2. Rename *.nbh file to BREEIMG.NBH and save on miniSD card (FAT32 formated), which place to phone.
3. Run app runme.bat and folow step (last step is little bit comlicated, press camera+power button on phone and IMMEDIATELY enter on comp)
4. Phone will automaticaly booting from miniSD and start flashing
Hi`Guys
for the last few days im having an serious rom problem with my Sony Ericsson X1 sines i was looking for an good 6.5 rom that fits and works smooth with my X1 i found an cooked 6.5 rom belong to HD2 aka Leo2 and i reveiw it and i like it so i charged my phone to the full and unlock my phone using "HARDSPL Tool" after that i upgraded my phone with the new rom ,i like it at the first but after some times i faced alot of hangs and bugs within the rom besides the rom overload the processor that would make the phone runs slow so i had to place back my original rom so i used Sony Ericsson Update service "SEUS" to replace my current rom and when i runed the update it asked me to place back the stock SPL and i did and runed the update again but it said that i have he latest software update so i tryed to go all the way around and use the traditional way to downgrade my phone but here is the problem when ever i start the downgrade prosses it gives me update error number {[260] connection} the update stop and start the recovery prosses ,then i tryed to reunlock the phone but it gave me the same error ,so i tryed to get smart and i stop using the computer for the downgrading and moved to flashing methods farmatted my micro-sd to FAT32 placed the required nbh file named with Kovsimg but when i bootload my phone it stops at the loading part without going throw the checking prosses then done the same with the the SPL but the same it stick at the loading stage ,i start to get hopeless my last option was to use the MTTY Tool but it only formatted the rom without flashing the phone
so now im using 20% of my phone option to avoid bugs or hangs and my phone stick with bad 6.5 rom protacted with StockSPL that cant be changed
so guys any one faced the same problem ? plssss help i really feel like my phone its on handicap status

im not looking for a rom i want to release my phone from it hanging in rom updating it stops at 0% when i use the computer and at the loading screen when i use the micro-sd

I read often that it might be solved with one of the following
1. Remove your SD card, run the HardSPL again, then reinsert the SD card with your kovsimg file and it should work
2. reinstall active sync via .msn
3. change the usp port and the data cable
4. disable firewall and antivir
...
But item 1 is reportedly the main reason for most of the error 260 connection failures.

sorry it didnt help it showed me a new error with the number of [262] now and the upgrade i think the problem its within the phone it self

how did you try the update? w or w/o sd card?
if with card: did you check if the card is formatted as FAT32?
did you try it with a custom rom? maybe try a stock rom (pavelx1 thread) first
pls try to find some aid in hard-spl unlocker... thread

i tryd the activesync first and after the update start on the computer and my phone the update stops at 0% on the computer and the phone as well then the update stops showing error #[262] update error then start the recovery prosses and i formatted my micro-sd to FAT32 and load it with the required file but when i bootload it start the update but stops at the 1st prosses the loading prosses and never move next to the checking and so on
i believe my problem it had something to do with the SPL the rom its locked with the StockSPL that not allowing the update to happen or to get unlocked with the HardSpl

it toke me really long time to find the file in other site other than rapshared and it didnt worked i tryed also newer StockSPL also the same the phone its not updating im getting really helpless here
Have you ever tried to put your phone into the bootloader mode and try to hardSPL again?
Are you currently using win XP? Don't use Win 7 or Vista.

yeas my friend i tryed it many many times it didnt work it give the same error [262] and i dont really trust windows 7 or vista with my phone upgrade i only use windows Xp for such things

Try installing the newer SPL and then install hard-spl on a different computer without your sd card in the phone.

sounds like he means newer stock spl
not sure if the latest stock roms already have 0.78spl, but you will get it it you flash an older stock rom (0.52) and update via SEUS

i guess your way its the only thing that i didnt do yet but the problem is that all thouse stock roms are uploaded to rapidshare and i cant download it from there just hope is any body could tell me other site that i can download thouse new frimware or latest x1 stock rom

I have tried to flash the Custom boot.img, but it prompt errors throughout the process, and when i reboot my Tatoo, it halts on the "Tattoo" Logo.
I have not create a gold card before, and when boot with usb pluged, i can enter fastboot usb mode.
I have tried to flash the original RUU_Click_HTC_WWE_1.67.405.6_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver, but it failed with error 131, cid error.
I am very worry now, and search for a long time for solution but still cant save my tattoo.

Now, you understand why ALL TUTORIALS say "Create a GoldCard" ?
The GoldCard is here to bypass the CID Check, so it's normal you have this error...
You're tattoo is dead.
But the goldcard is necessary only for branded tattoo, right? I've a unbranded tattoo and i can flash RUU without problem.
If you used 1-click-root you shuld have the files needed to make a GoldCard.

Your Tattoo isn't dead unless you can't make the goldcard.
You'll need another Android phone. Insert the Tattoo's MicroSD Card into it, and get the CID of the Card. Do the goldcard business and whatnot, and then you should be back into the game.

You did not brick your Tattoo. Your Tattoo isn't working simply. You can flash it with right goldcard and it can work again...

Is it not taking the .nbh file? Did it error out? If so what was the error?

You you have the right DreaIMG.nbh file? RC7 is Europe RC29 is US.

Where did your device originally come from? The error is related to the nbh file not being compatible. You can Google for this and find lots of discussion about that error message. If it is not US or UK it may take some special steps. There is a process involving a "gold card" that may be what you need.
I am also having this issue. it is a USA Tmo G1 with the DMD64 1.6 update. mine flashes a screen that says "no img file then gets stuck on a 3 colored screen with the radio info. any ideas?

Make sure the card is formatted fat32 and the DreaIMG.nbh is the only file on the card.

I've searched there website for this information, can you post a link to some good instructions or possibly write your own? I wanna root my new DMD64 G1 I just received.

turn of your phone
put goldcard with nbh file in phone
then turn on by holding camera buton and end key until bootloader screen turns on
hit end key to start update. DO NOT INTERUPT PROCES
once it is done hit trackball to rstart phone
now you are on stock version rc29 or7
now you can root by this easy guide

Was about to try it again but had updated my firmware to DMD64 then I was getting (Not Allowed)

My phone runs fine but can't root it at all with the desktop program and androot 1.6 it says it roots it but then open rom manager and it tells me dont have super user permissions.
i used universal androot and it worked without the hassle of trensfering files to your sd.
