I currently have Froyo 2.2 installed as well as root on my Droid. I want to roll back to 2.1 or 2.0.1 and lose root so I am bone stock. I have seen some instruction on how to do this, but all of them are for 2.1 to stock. Can anyone give direction on how to go to bone stock from 2.2? Thanks.
Well don't know about the radio you have or direction on downgrading that but for unrooting I would install a 2.0.1 rom or downgrade to 2.0.1 then I would find the 2.1 ota update untouched and flash that. That should wipe out the root and give you stock 2.1. Or you can find stock 2.0.1 sbf file and downgrade to that with rsd lite. I don't know if original sbf file used to root is stock or rooted it maybe untouched and when you root your flashing an rooted 2.1 version after initial downgrade. I would check that out also.

The other thing is the Droid 2.2 ota is out on vzw website. You can flash a 2.1 rom than flash the 2.2 ota update.

Do you know what to stock radio number is? Thanks.
I think it would be C_01.3E.01P. Or maybe the C_01.3E.03P. Not positive but hope it sends ya in he righr direction.

You were right on the first one, that would be stock radio.

Yes you need to load the shipping rom passionsomething.imgsomething file. There's a thread on it. It's real easy, download it, rename it to a special bootloader recognized file, reboot, go into bootloader and it AUTOMagically, loads it.
No. If you aren't rooted you can't go back. The stock recovery will not let you downgrade.
Unless... I may have heard about one special leaked rom that let you do that, but I couldn't even begin to point you in the right direction.
o i c okay thanks...
anyoine out there know if i can update my non rooted 2.1 to 2.2 and then if i decide to go back to 2.1 i can??? please help
i have a non rooted n1 with 2.1 update 1 now if i update it with a froyo unroot version can i go back to 2.1 update 1???
Are you running a custom recovery image? If you are then you can make a nandroid backup of 2.1. If you aren't then the only way to go 2.2 > 2.1-update 1 would be to do a factory reset.
I have a friend who didn't get the OTA update to 2.2. They don't want any custom ROM's or to be rooted, they just want their update. Can I just flash FRG01B with RSD Lite without rooting the phone or having to put SPRecovery on it? I think this should be super simple but I've never actually done anyting like this to a non-rooted phone.

Thanks good link.
Is there a way to save all the apps for them before I update their phone to 2.2 or will they just have to download them again?
The update will not delete anything on your phone.

ne1 got a link for the files?
Hey everyone I realise from my earlier post that 2.2.2 hasn't been rooted yet so instead does anyone happen to have the virgin 2.2.2 to load on my phone. I'm currently running revolt but I want to make a custom from 2.2.2 ill use stock if I must though.
Thanks in advance for any guidence to locate it.
Ok, I'm not sure what you are wanting, but look at the link below for stock and rooted zv4, it is the original stock system.img for froyo 2.2.2. I have an update.zip that I made to update the system.img to zv6 but retain root that is also froyo 2.2.2. Either way you will still have to flash zv4 first. Just let me know if you want the update.zip.

I was wondering if anyone has found the original ROM that cam with the Droid 3. I had bricked mine trying to unroot it so I could get the OTA latest update. I would upo having to FB 5.6.890 ROM. It was the only one that seemed to work. I know this is the latest ROM out there for my phone. I would just love to be able to put it back like it came out of the box and be able to receive OTA updates. I was a newbie when I rooted the phone and didnt realize you cant un root it if you have deleted any system apps that were on the phone originally. If anybody has the answer or idea it would be greatly appreciated.
Rob
If you look through the threads here, the sbf is there.

Afaik once you upgrade to 5.6.890 you can't downgrade via sbf. I've heard it will fail.

I want to root my milestone but I do not want to risk bricking my phone by flashing it before I get my upgrade in april, I've used one-click roots before whilst on 2.1 but can't find any for froyo. If there is any please post below, thanks
you can't root 2.1 and then update to 2.2?
I've used 'universal androot' to root my 2.2.1 milestone.
This post at androidforums helped me out and provide a download link:

Using this app is at your own risk of course.
Well, I suppose you are using stock froyo, as any custom rom comes rooted. I think that at some point I used one called z4 or something like that...

With Universal Androot you can root your phone, but you can't flash other ROMs though.
You need to do the vulnerable recovery sbf in order to be able to change roms.
Definitely worth it to flash the vulnerable and then another ROM. Tons of great features added to the stock ROM.
Rsd lite plus the 2.2.2 sbf file. This will downgrade u to 2.2.2 then use gingerbreak to root the phone. Its very easy

You can with a custom rom.
