I have a friend who didn't get the OTA update to 2.2. They don't want any custom ROM's or to be rooted, they just want their update. Can I just flash FRG01B with RSD Lite without rooting the phone or having to put SPRecovery on it? I think this should be super simple but I've never actually done anyting like this to a non-rooted phone.

Thanks good link.
Is there a way to save all the apps for them before I update their phone to 2.2 or will they just have to download them again?
The update will not delete anything on your phone.

My USB port is loose inside and i cant root so i was wondering is there any apps or anything i can download from my phone online to make it a bit quicker? Is there any unrooted roms for our Droid?
You can root or unroot your phone using Unversal Androot aplication.
Probably stock roms are not rooted, but I am not sure, because I've got Milestone.
To download rom (from internet, no usb needed) and install it on your phone you can use ROM Manager.
Well i have rom mgr but cant do anything since im not rooted and cant get rooted or recovery cause when i do update.zip and reboot to do rsd lite the phone always goes back to dec 31 1969 even when i click automatic set in date and time setting. Not sure whats up. Its keeping me from the rsd lite process. Ive tried it i always pass can i do the rsd lite first then update.zip? Or the other way around? Is there a stock rom without root and recovery?
I have recovery MC1 A855 do i need VZW FRG 83G? Im running 2.2.2 now. Will this get me into CWR?
UPDATE!!! Got phone working without USB port and did everything online with phone and did GingrBrk apk and got root and SS 5.4 ROM and v6 update ver 8= Flat flying
Could have also tried z4root, think that works for Milestone too...
I was wondering if anyone has found the original ROM that cam with the Droid 3. I had bricked mine trying to unroot it so I could get the OTA latest update. I would upo having to FB 5.6.890 ROM. It was the only one that seemed to work. I know this is the latest ROM out there for my phone. I would just love to be able to put it back like it came out of the box and be able to receive OTA updates. I was a newbie when I rooted the phone and didnt realize you cant un root it if you have deleted any system apps that were on the phone originally. If anybody has the answer or idea it would be greatly appreciated.

If you look through the threads here, the sbf is there.

Afaik once you upgrade to 5.6.890 you can't downgrade via sbf. I've heard it will fail.

I have tried Superoneclick latest version with zergrush. Hangs on step 7. I would like to root my SCH-I800. Anyone shed some some light on this? Even a manual root via adb?

Will CF-Root work? If which file?
same here: no joy with either latest superoneclick or with the pure zergrush.
vzw may have patched that exploit
:/
I mean I can put it back to stock and not update it. Just seems a lot more stable with 2.3.5. More fluid and faster. I originally had 2.2 and rooted manually. Now seeing new update, I reset to stock and downloaded both updates to 2.3.5. No dice on any root method yet. I see CF-Root as method but our device is considered old by latter means? Also my kernel string only gives "2.6.35.7". Hopefully soon...
If you flash the kernel from my Cubed 3 ROM it will allow you to adb push the root files.

Can/should we flash the recovery as well? Is it possible to flash back to the stock kernel and/or recovery after rooting?
BTW, I really like your ROM, I just prefer to stay a little closer to stock. Thanks a lot for all the help you have provided us VZW Tab owners!
EDIT: I just now saw your rooted stock ROM in the development forum. That is really awesome, thanks! But, if possible, I am still interested in rooting the device without having to reflash the entire ROM and losing data/settings in the process.
Any update on this? Suggestions?
Just need to root, not change the ROM (yet!)
I want to root my milestone but I do not want to risk bricking my phone by flashing it before I get my upgrade in april, I've used one-click roots before whilst on 2.1 but can't find any for froyo. If there is any please post below, thanks
you can't root 2.1 and then update to 2.2?
I've used 'universal androot' to root my 2.2.1 milestone.
This post at androidforums helped me out and provide a download link:

Using this app is at your own risk of course.
Well, I suppose you are using stock froyo, as any custom rom comes rooted. I think that at some point I used one called z4 or something like that...

With Universal Androot you can root your phone, but you can't flash other ROMs though.
You need to do the vulnerable recovery sbf in order to be able to change roms.
Definitely worth it to flash the vulnerable and then another ROM. Tons of great features added to the stock ROM.
Rsd lite plus the 2.2.2 sbf file. This will downgrade u to 2.2.2 then use gingerbreak to root the phone. Its very easy

You can with a custom rom.

I was wondering if anyone has the stock rom for my droid 4? 6.13.219.xt894.Verizon.en.us? Ever since i rooted it, I accidentally uninstalled some bloatware and now that's preventing me from updating. Even after I get the stock rom, how would i install it? Any help would be appreciated :fingers-crossed:
just download the 98.72.18.XT894.xml from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_maserati/list.php
and Use RSD Lite to flash a .XML Stock Rom (firmware)
I'd just use this and have it done automatically.
