I have a friend who didn't get the OTA update to 2.2. They don't want any custom ROM's or to be rooted, they just want their update. Can I just flash FRG01B with RSD Lite without rooting the phone or having to put SPRecovery on it? I think this should be super simple but I've never actually done anyting like this to a non-rooted phone.

Thanks good link.
Is there a way to save all the apps for them before I update their phone to 2.2 or will they just have to download them again?
The update will not delete anything on your phone.

ne1 got a link for the files?
I have tried Superoneclick latest version with zergrush. Hangs on step 7. I would like to root my SCH-I800. Anyone shed some some light on this? Even a manual root via adb?

Will CF-Root work? If which file?
same here: no joy with either latest superoneclick or with the pure zergrush.
vzw may have patched that exploit
:/
I mean I can put it back to stock and not update it. Just seems a lot more stable with 2.3.5. More fluid and faster. I originally had 2.2 and rooted manually. Now seeing new update, I reset to stock and downloaded both updates to 2.3.5. No dice on any root method yet. I see CF-Root as method but our device is considered old by latter means? Also my kernel string only gives "2.6.35.7". Hopefully soon...
If you flash the kernel from my Cubed 3 ROM it will allow you to adb push the root files.

Can/should we flash the recovery as well? Is it possible to flash back to the stock kernel and/or recovery after rooting?
BTW, I really like your ROM, I just prefer to stay a little closer to stock. Thanks a lot for all the help you have provided us VZW Tab owners!
EDIT: I just now saw your rooted stock ROM in the development forum. That is really awesome, thanks! But, if possible, I am still interested in rooting the device without having to reflash the entire ROM and losing data/settings in the process.
Any update on this? Suggestions?
Just need to root, not change the ROM (yet!)
Hi All
I need some help getting back to a state where i can just OTA Jellybean just like a normal bionic, I dont care about root or anything like that.
This is my current situation
I installed safestrap 3.11, I accidentally wiped my stock rom and attempted to install AOSP onto stock rom, obviously it did not work, so my stock rom is now dead. I did however install AOSP into rom slot 1, and its working fine. I would like to completely ditch safestrap and get my bionic to a factory stock state with factory ICS installed so i can just OTA update it to Jellybean, is this possible in my current situation? and if so, how do I do it.
I tried using a method that was advertised on droid forums, someguy saved his ICS stock rom as a restore in safestrap, I tried putting the files into the TWRP folder but when i went to restore in safestrap, it did not list any packages I could use to restore. Any help would be appreciated.
If you had stock ICS before you broke it, find obsidian's post about all things bionic and follow the link to the instructions on how to flash a stock fxz with rsdlite.
Don't try to flash ICS fxz if you had stock jb, or you will brick your phone.

hey guys my atrix hd stays in a loop in the bootanimation when I try to mount any rom from JB, I only work one ICS based roms, that problem will have, which peudo do to enjoy a superior version.
my atrix initially came with version 4.1.1 of at & t but I did release the bootloader and downgrade the Motorola Atrix HD Utility tool, JB to ICS 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC from there or I could not upload any cooked rom Basda in JB with rom manager
You are sure you unlocked the bootloader? Are you using a custom recovery like cwm?

of course, the bootloader is unlocked, I had already installed before holoblur rom but after a day they reset the phone and it was not the bootanimation so due back to Atrix HD Utility tool to version and from there ICS from any version JB I work, apartede that the proximity sensor and the lighting stopped working

I have already used rsd lite to flash the stock version:
-->Mexican (MB886_niimx-user-4.1.2-9.8.2Q-50_MB886_NII_TA-2-16-release-keys-NII-MX.xml)
--->at&t (MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886_FFW-20-27-release-keys-ATT-US_BuildA.xml)
but at the end of the process is also a loop at bootanimation. so with the MhyTools,
The only tool has worked for me is the Motorola_Atrix_HD_Utility which leaves me the device in the ICS version of at&t (7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml) is functional except for proximity sensors and lighting.

anything, download the update via OTA, but when the installation is restarted on M logo, as if the install with rsd lite and mhytools com. not pass the M stays in a loop and restarts.
rsd lite but could mount the ICS rom version of at & t (7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml) which starts and runs if I do not understand well because I can not install or upgrade JB stock or cooked rom
someone with a possible solution?, I flash a rom from JB or kikat
either stock or cooked

Can you install a different recovery, CWM or Phils and try a factory reset, then install new rom from recovery.
When doing rsd lite do you edit the xml, it may cause some issue.
I know the solution, but I can't explain why:
First, you need to flash the full MEXICAN RETAIL FIRMWARE, then, just flash the custom recovery of your preference, flash any JB ROM, and thats all...
The Mexican Retail firmware has some kind of boot or something, I don't know exactly which files are, that are the same as the RAZR HD, which all the ATRIX HD ROMs are based of... just try it.
I attached the custom XML file for the mexican firmware, replace that and after the flashing, install your custom recovery and try a ROM, you can reboot safelly and without problems, I know there a short solution, you don't have to flash the entire firmware, but I don't know which files are the essential ones... See ya
I have a Droid Turbo already rooted with BHB27's Oreo ROM, works awesome. So I got my son the same phone and went about trying to root it and install the same ROM. I had software bricked it but used RSDLite and got a stock ROM installed and now I can boot into Marshmallow. But now the wi-fi doesn't work. I have tried flashing different radios and modems with no luck. I need the wi-fi to work so that I can download sunshine and connect so that sunshine can root. Any advice on how to get the wi-fi working? It might be the wrong stock ROM, but I can boot it. It was previously on Marshmallow 6.0.1 prior to all of this so if anyone has a link to the correct stock ROM I can try and flash it. I have downloaded so many "stock" ROMS I'm not sure which was is the proper one.
Thanks for any advice. Any questions just ask.
