[Q] android.process.acore Force Close ISSUE - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I have read many forums that have this problem and most of them pass me up. The only time I get "android.process.acore" FC is when I am adding widgets. This happens about 95% of the time. I moved my widgets from SD to Internal storage. But I still get "android.process.acore" FC, when I re-add them to my home screen... So I rebooted and cleared cache, still no improvement. I am running Cyanogen 5.0.8 and Slide Blue Theme. Like I said, its not that big of a problem, but I would like it to work properly. So what could be the problem?
P.S. After I long press on home screen, select widget, select 4x1 or 4x2(depending on what widget) press ok, then "android.process.acore" FC appears, I wait awhile, then I hit FC, my phone resumes to home screen with the new widget I selected. But why does it have to say, "android.process.acore" FC? Weird......

Using the app Terminal Emulator:
Type "su"
then type "fix_permissions"

Thanks! It worked!

Update: it worked for the first 20 mins or so..... now its back to where it was at. I went into terminal emulator and fix permissions and rebooted my phone. Humm..... I don't know exactly what the problem is? Anymore suggestions?

I had the same issue and looked at this thread. I can not post links.. thanks.. anyway if you were to search and see codedotgoogledotcom/p/android/issues/detail?id=2377
I removed some widgets and it still happened. I followed the last solution to the post and removed my peep acct and it seems to have solved the problem, for me any way .. HTC EVO 4g on froyo (back to stock)..

Activity Home is not responding?

Every time I reboot my phone I get the Activity Home(in process android.process.acore) is not responding. Then it asks me to foreclose or wait. Anybody know what this is? I don't see any effects of it. If I tap on wait then everything loads fine, but if I hit foreclose nothing loads. just curious.

I'm thinking a badflash/download
or maybe just a bug
but it sounds more on the likes of bad flash
redownload
wipe/reformat your ext/wipe/repair ext filesystems
then reflash
tell me what happens
Rouge widget could be the problem?

Same here, started to appear when I upgraded my A953 (Motorola Milestone 2) to Gingerbread.
After 3 re-flashes and a complete data wipe I narrowed it down to Smooth Calendar widget. As soon as I installed it and added to the home screen, the Activity Home force closes reappeared right after bootup. Sometimes it completely froze the phone.
So my general advice: also try removing widgets, one of them might clog down the acore (Activity Home) process.

Open home problems

Hey guys this is my first post here and I tried to search for an answer before posting. Here's what I have:
-HTC Hero CDMA
-cyanogenmod 6.1 heroc
-most recent sprint radio 2.42.01.04.27
-decafuct kernel 2.6.29.6
-open home full 4.4
Since I installed the new kernel and radio two things are happening.
1. Thy wifi says 'error' when I try to turn it on.
2. Everytime I reboot as soon as the home screen comes up it says that openhome had a problem and needs to be closed so I select forclose (my options are forceclose and report) Then after a second the home screen shows up, I see the the phone is mounting my sd card and my icons are all there but they are the generic android icons. If I click on any it says, this application is not installed. So I go into application manager and force close openhome again, and that restores it. Also any Widgets I had installed has the error 'problem loading widget' if I long press the screen to put a widget back, most of the Widgets aren't showing up to select. At least the ones that were running before the reboot. Any ideas? I've tried starting in safe mode and the home screen never comes up all I can access is the status bar on top.

Deca had a problem with his kernal for about a 24 hour period that did exactly what you're saying with the wifi. I suspect you have that one. Try downloading his newest.
I have no idea on problem 2 though, sorry.
Edit: Actually I had one thought, make sure openhome (and maybe those widgets) are installed to your phone, and not on your sd card.
Yeah, i made that 2 hour mistake a few weeks ago. But it is on the phone. I even removed adw.launcher as a last effort

[q] Issue of Gingerbread 2.3.3 on N1

1) Genie (news/meteo) widget is broken. I remove the widget but, when I try to reinstall it, "genie" process suddenly ends.
RESOLVED: clear data from Application Settings Menu and then re-apply the widget.

Same issue with Meridian Pro player, the widget would make it crash.
Deleting the widget, clearing application data, then re-adding the widget fix it.
Note that clearing the application data makes it forget your unlock code for the pro version. Make sure you have a copy of your code before clearing the data.
I miss the Froyo keyboard, i loved to just swipe my finger up and get another pair of lines with symbols, WHY WAS THIS REMOVED!!!
Or perhaps is not removed, anyone knows?

Annoying amazon mp3 app is still there!
Can't access to Google Voice app (no more icon). The application appears as installed in the market. Can't open / uninstall from the list of applications (appears in grey in all apps list).
Anyone have the Trillian 1.0.145? (final beta before it went to market)
Seems to be the only app not working for me, never completes log in.
Not really an issue, but I.was so much hoping for copy/paste to work in gtalk but I still can't copy in gtalk.

I always chuckle when people say they avoid CM7 and other ROMs because they want to "avoid bugs".
Irony at its finest?
Don't know if anyone will care, but if you spam tap "Android version 2.3.3" you will see this image:

Do you really need to keep evangelizing CM? This is XDA, we know about CM7. If we wanted to be running it we would be already.
When you go to the USB storage connection screen the button seems to say "Turn off USB storage" no matter whether it's already on or not.

Yeah, me too.
Just close the Market and then re-open and you're back at the new one. You may need to kill Market in app management, or just wait a couple of minutes to go back in.
I'm having the umts hsdpa switch issue. It switches back and forth every few seconds, and I have strong signal. Anyone seeing this?

[Q] Disappearing launcher problem + maps problem

Hi,
I'm using stock 2.3.3 w/ stock launcher, build GRI40. Occasionally, when I press home, I see my live wallpaper but no launcher. I either have to sit for a while until launcher reappears or reboot the phone (or kill the launcher app if System is in app history). Does anyone else have this problem?
Another problem I have is with Maps. Sometimes when searching, the soft keyboard doesn't show up but if I tap where the keys would be, it registers the press as if the kb is there.
And sometimes when going into the details for a point in the map and bringing up the context menu for more options, the screen darkens as if the dialog is there but no dialog is shown. Again, when I tap the screen, it registers the presses as if the dialog is there. I'm using HTC IME mod for N1. Killing the map app doesn't help, only a reboot seems to solve it.
Anyone else having these issues?
Are any of these apps installed on your SD? That would be the obvious fix...

No, all on the internal memory. This is stock Android so stock apps can't be moved to the sd card.
When you update from the Market, the update is placed in /data/app, not system/app, so it's possible your Maps is in data. I know that was a source of Maps problems for me, which I resolved by moving it back to system. If you're not rooted, you don't have that option through... Tricky... :-/

I know that I've been having problems with the new keyboard, wont show up, wont show key press popups, crashes completely. Maybe it's something I'm doing... I think it's something system wide that just effects the keyboard workings.
I don't know. but you're not the only one with key board issues. =)

I've started having a strange problem with HTC IME Mod. I type stuff and it never draws the suggestions although the suggestions are actually there - moving the Dpad left/right shows the text being replaced in the input box with the suggestion.
This is starting to look like a GB issue tbh, I never had any of these problems in Froyo. All my stuff is stock.

I saw this problem once, about 24 hours after installing 2.3.3. I was also experiencing severe battery drain. The battery monitor showed "Android OS" using most the battery. I found references to setting the Wi-Fi sleep policy to "Never" to correct this. Sure enough, the battery life has been fine and "Android OS" no longer uses much battery.
It may be coincidental, but since doing this, I haven't had the empty home screen problem and my phone has been up for over a week. You might give this a try if you haven't already and see if it helps.

Widgets Not Showing in Add Widget Area

Hello all, over the last 2-3 days when installing apps with known widgets they aren't showing up so you can select and add. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and nothing. If I restart the device then the widget will show up to add. Another odd thing is when the app is uninstalled the widget is showing up to add. The app is uninstalled and this is happening. I try to add the widget to see what it does and it creates the little Android. If you long press to add the widget to the home screen it gives a meassgae that reads "Create Widget and Allow Access? After you create widget, Google app can access all data it disolays. Always allow Google Apps to create widgets and access their data with a check box. There are also cancel and delete options. They both don't do anything. If you check the box and select create it brings you back to the widget select area. Device is stock. No recent apps aside from one bad weather app. Any ideas? This is a new issue aside from the early shutdown before 0% battery. First it was 2% 15% and now 18% tonight. Disappointing for a $650 device. Thanks!
I didn't understand, actually what are you talking about?
Sorry, I realize it may be confusing. It seems to be unusual. I've attached a screenshot of what shows then you try add a widget that is from an app that is uninstalled. There should not be a widget listed in the listing to add when an app is uninstalled . Now the initial issue is when an app is installed that offers a widget I'm not seeing it in the widget listing area. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled and widget still doesn't show in list. If I reboot the phone then I usually see the widget. Very odd! Any thoughts?
Having this problem too. Just added CurrentWidget and its not showing under "add widget". Restarted and the widgets there. Stock 5.1
I have the same problem , you have to reboot phone after adding widgets each time

Yeah, there are others with the same issue. For sure seems like an operating system bug. 5.1 update did not fix it. It just started a few week ago. I wonder if it has something to do with the stock launcher.
I've always thought that was the norm, but others feel it is a bug.
Try restarting system UI after install instead of a reboot and I'm told that should accomplish the same thing for you to see the new widgets in the list.
Are you guys using the standard Google launcher? I have never seen this issue but run Apex or Nova
