I like to turn off 4g. Because I want longer battery life?
Is there any 4g switch app available?
Thanks
Yes, dial *#*#4636#*#* and select Phone Info, then Select CDMA Auto PRL.
*#*#(INFO)#*#*
LTE wont look for a signal anymore.
To Re-Enable LTE, Dial *#*#4636#*#*, Phone Info, CDMA + LTE

Thats cuz there is one on the Evo. Maybe we'll get one in a future update. No worries, someone will make an app.
beautiful widgets has a 4g toggle widget, but it pops up with a warning that it's only for 4g wimax phones...not sure if it'll work or not for us, and i'm not in a 4g area.
Download Any Cut from the market. Create new shortcut, scroll down to Phone Info and it will make shortcut to the screen where you can go to cdma auto, which will stop LTE from running

download app in market called "network mangelow"
3G - CDMA auto (PRL)
4G - CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto
I switched LTE off, looking forward to see battery improvements tomorrow since 4G isn't in my area yet.
tell me how much of an improvement it is
There is absolutely no question of the improvement. If the 4G radio doesnt have to keep searching for a signal that is not even there, of course its going to save your battery.

im using this app and it works great. what i did was make a widget with minimalistic text and have it open this app.
Yup, Im using this too. Works perfectly. Its called "Network" in your apps list. No 4G at work yet so I make the switch at least twice a day, this helps.
What I find is that I have to switch to airplane mode to get it back into 4G though, anyone else..
Tried the app. Just bootlooped :/. Not sure if i'll try it agian. I might wait for a more direct app

whats the difference on these three?
3G CDMA auto
3G CDMA only
3G Evdo only
I use Phone Info by [email protected] Can't post links yet, but it's in the market. Small app, saves a lot of typing to get to the menu.

This is driving me nuts. My o2x P990 is probably more out of service then its actually on it.
When I'm walking around in the city or just sitting at home there are numerous of moments that I just can't make calls or send texts.
Even when I'm connected, sometimes I have to type my messages over and over again three times till its send successfully. Sometimes all my contacts and messages are gone, the whole thing freezes up for a second and I only see their telephone numbers anymore.
I never had this problem before with my other phones, I had an old nokia for years and the bars were always full of connectivity.
Its been out of service for an hour now, only thing that helps it to reboot it, come on..
I live in Belgium and I'm using Mobistar anyone else having these problems?
No rom, nothing flashed, just rooted out of curiosity but not using any benefits of it.
simply type *#*#4636#*#*
then select phone info
and then scroll to prefered network or something else and touch into wcdma preferred
and your phone will get signal everywhere.
sorry for my bad english,

That's not true. If there is no WCDMA coverage, there is NO signal.
And that's not true. If there is no WCDMA, it will use GSM.

Ok. Please enlighten me.
We have normal settings like:
* Preferred network mode GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) In practice, WCDMA is preferred
* WCDMA only
* GSM only
So this must be macig, *#*#4636#*#* , please try it.
Preferred mean it will try and use WCDMA where possible, but if it's not possible, it will drop to GSM.

Where do you find WCDMA preferred extra setting (not AUTO)?
I am mainly referring to post #2. Only in AUTO mode fallback to GSM is supported and vice versa.
Its already on WCMDA preferred, thats good right?

Where did you find that setting? Or do you mean WCDMA only?
If its been having consistently bad reception from day 1, it could be a case of a bad radio hardware. In which case, a warranty swap should easily remedy the situation.

It's the first option in the list on the testing menu.
Ps. GSM Auto (PRL) is often a good bet. That's what I use.

Can you explain the difference between GSM Auto (PRL) and WCDMA preferred?
I also have no service very often. My other phones (same SIM card) get 3G or even HSDPA (at least EDGE) access but the LG says no servoice. It's very annoying.
WCDMA the phone is always on the lookout for a 3G signal, PRL means the phone gets a list from the carrier and uses 2G/3G based on it. Should provide better battery life.
Always on,
central Europe, SK, CZ, H, A , PL - everywhere always on = home net + several roaming ones.
May be it is about time to check area of usage with your provider.

After trying searching today countless apps and signal booster apps i finally found one that worked. I tried Viaero Toggle app from the play store and now have a constant 4g signal. I have tested 2 methods on the app. Tried a method setting my preferred network to just LTE and CDMA/LTE. Setting it to just LTE works except you have an X over your signal bars, CDMA/LTE doesnt.
1. Download the Viaero toggle app
2. Select phone information
3. Scroll down where it says preferred network
4. Select LTE or LTE/CDMA
This is for people who KNOW their supposed to have an LTE connection. I used to own a GS3 and had a constant LTE signal. Switching to the ONE my LTE constantly jumps from LTE to 3G which was my biggest gripe. Now I'm in love with my ONE all over again. So if you know you have this issue. This will help trust me.
Let me know your results. I really want to work for everyone because this has been pissing me off for the longest. I had even switched out for a second HTC one and they both had signal issues. If it doesnt help let me know and we can try other methods for different people.
The 2 pics i attached is one with just LTE and the other is LTE/CDMA
You know that X over the signal bars mean you no longer have a voice connection right? Kind of defeats the purpose of a phone

The better way of doing this would be to use the ##DATA# shortcut (provided you have your MSL), but you certainly can do this.

If you just want to use WiFi tether purposes. You can. That's also why I gave the cdma/ltd option as well.

Thanks for the shortcut since I keep forgetting it. I just gave it a try. I was able to switch to CDMA LTE only and my LTE switched back on from 3G almost instantly. Sweet! Looks like I'll be using this feature quite often.

I got nothin'
Neither the App nor the menu has provided 4G / LTE. Funny thing is that on 4.3 ROM's I don't get LTE, but 4.2 and lower it's a non-issue. Any ideas?
Funny thing is I have no APN's. When I try to manually add them they don't save.

I normally set it to WCDMA only but after a while it automatically switches to WCDMA preferred which results in a loss of data and the Roaming symbol. Any way i can set it permanently to WCDMA only? I'm in India btw...

Who uses their phone for talking? What is this 2005?
Yup, i set it to WCDMA only but for some weird reason it switches back to WCDMA preferred after a while. I do it using the same method you've described.
If I set my phone to lte cdma it goes to gsm as my days connection. Am I missing something here? Thanks

The forum you're posting in right now is the Sprint HTC One M7 forum. You have the M8, therefore go to the Sprint HTC One M8 forum.
With the 4636 menu what setting should I be choosing to stay in 4G? I'm in Chicago and I have terrible 4G to 3G handoffs all the time.

Hi there. I saw in a previous thread that someone was having trouble with 4g on the atrixhd holoblur build. The advice given was:

Turn it on manually by typing *#*#4636#*#* from the Dialer. Make sure you select the LTE / GSM only. And then go to Settings-> More-> Mobile Network-> Make sure you select or have the 4g selected

I just installed the tuned version last night and I'm showing a few differences from the advice given here. First the closest I have to LTE/GSM is LTE/GSM/WCDMA. When I select it, it works. When wifi takes over it reverts back to wcmda preferred and I have to set it again. Also, when I go into the mobile networks, there is no option for 4g. It's just 2g or better 3g or better or automatic. Any ideas what might be up? I installed from what I believe is the official thread for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356624 Should I be installing the performance version?
Thanks for any insight you might be able to give!
Ben
