Hiding Pictures From Gallery?

Is there a way to hide pictures from the Gallery application? Should I put the files in a hidden folder? Or is there a certain way to do it?

to hide pictures from being found in Gallery, add a "." in front of the name of the folder .. so if you want to hide 'hiddenpictures', rename the folder to '.hiddenpictures'
theres an app called HidenSeek it looks and acts like a flash light but when u press the menu 3 times prompts u with a password and bam hidden photo album...but be sure to exit out of the app or it stays open and its not so hidden anymore....i used it more as a flash light..lol

That's hilarious haha
haha that's awesome. ok thanks from both of you
.hide
Every time I have something that I want to hide, I just add ".hide" to the file name.
For example
file_name.mp4.hide (the .hide doesn't show up)
or
file_name.jpg.hide
once again, the ".hide" does not show. just prevents someone from opening that file.

Can it still be accessed through astro using this method?
You can create a file called .nomedia in the folder with the pictures you want to hide from Gallery. A reboot may be required also.
http://androinica.com/2009/08/28/ho...iles-from-appearing-in-android-media-players/
It works for music, videos and images.
A reboot is not required. All you need to do is prompt it to rescan the sdcard for media, which can be done by issuing this command:
am broadcast -a android.intent.action.MEDIA_MOUNTED -d file:///sdcard
** note that there is no visual queue that it is doing anything, but it does trigger media scan.
If you have dev tools installed you can also run media scanner from there, which *does* give a visual indication.
I suggest using dot-folders to hide media. It is much cleaner than renaming all your media. The media will still work through a filebrowser that supports hidden files, like astro, and renaming a single directory rather than every file in it is much less effort.... "mv /sdcard/mediatohide /sdcard/.mediatohide; am broadcast -a and....." to hide, and "mv /sdcard/.mediatohide /sdcard/mediatohide; am broadcast -a and....." to unhide.
That .hide method is annoying.
A simple app that can password protect folders containing any file is needed.

Annoying? It is annoying when some lazy slob asks for someone to do everything for them when they already have everything they need right in front of them.

No , whats annoying is something as simple as Gallery app being screwed up this bad.
The .hide method is a weak workaround.
Example: I have ASL lite app. When I go to gallery I have to scroll through dozens of pics of sign language to get to the pics I want to see. Using the .hide method also hides them from the ASL app.
You add Icons to this and its just one massive pain in the ass.
The camera shouldnt be defaulting to a Gallery that has "all pics/vids on SD card" as a unchangeable default setting.

wow, really? no. it is completely annoying to do this stuff manually. that is the reason we have apps. that's like telling someone "it's annoying when you lazy slobs drive your cars when you have feet". sorry, not going to fly.
I havent tested the .nomedia file method, but that sounds like the ticket.
The file explorer app developers should add functionality to long press on a folder and pick "add .nomedia" action.
I have done the .nomedia thing a number of times, it works flawlessly. It hides them from gallery, but keeps them useable with their original program.
Photo vault
There is an app called photo vault it use a pin to access your pics and hides them from all other apps.
There is also APP vault too

[Q] How to remove the LockScreen?

Is it possible to completely remove Lockscreen? I use the "No lock" application, but I'd rather just not have Lockscreen in general.

Menu/settings/Location and security/set screen lock/None -> OK, done.
Tips for you:
- Download and setup applications ShakeOff - shake your hand to lock the phone.
Unfortunately does not work. All the time when I turn my phone is necessary to shift the belt "unlock".

[Q] where are s memo lite images stored?

When you press the stylus button and double-tap the screen, s memo lite pops up and you can record a note. Does anyone know where the note is stored once saved? It never appears in my gallery, and I cannot find any of them!
/sdcard/Application/SMemo/switcher
Thanks for that!
They are in PNG format, and so do not show up in the Gallery. I can't see any way to open them form anywhere but a file manager, either. Seems like a but of a stuff up generally.
I'll put it under Sugarsync control so I don't lose them, but it would be nice to have proper access.

Gallery handles PNGs fine. What's stopping them from showing by default is an empty marker file called /mnt/sdcard/Application/SMemo/switcher/.nomedia - delete that and they'll show up.

cheers the best tip i've had in ages if not ever.
I did look for that, but on reading your post I looked harder and realised I had not displayed hidden files.
Thanks!
Now working as desired? I still think it's a stuff-up as they should want these accessible in some way after saving.

Edit facer .face file

Does anyone know how to open the facer file, or even how to export the watch face from inside facer?
I downloaded a really nice watch, but it has a bezel and all I want to do is remove the bezel so it looks good on the G watch R.

As far as I know, you have to edit it on your phone using Facer app. If you extract .zip and edit it, face won't work anymore.

Yeah, can't you just edit the watch face in Facer and then select and delete the bezel image?

All you have to do is put a .img at the end of the item inside the facer zip and once your done take the.img off and there you go.
cheers, that worked

You can also put PNG at the end for editing on a PC
How about duplicating images in the file? I copied a watch file I wanted to edit, unzipped it and added the .png extensions, copied the parts I wanted to modify. Modified the parts, removed the extensions, zipped it up and copied it to the Facer folder. Selected the new face file in the app and it didn't load. No error message.
Is there any rhyme or reason to the naming of the files? Basically what I'm trying to do is to make true dim state faces as most of the ones for the moto 360 don't work well for the GWR.
I did edit the data file as well to add the duplicated parts.

This is what developer of Facer have answerred to someone complaining about non working faces on Google Play

That happens when uses modify face files outside of Facer, unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix this.

So when you modify files manually it breaks face and Facer can't load it anymore.
If you want to edit them, edit in Facer.

I'll have to install the app on my tablet and try modifying the parts. The problem is that I need to duplicate the face and hands and doom them but I don't see a way to duplicate them in the app.

Ok, I see what I need to do. Take the existing file and modify the graphics as needed and then import them with the app.

Success. Modified this one into a proper dimming face for the GWR. Need to do a few more.

Google Photo Save Issue

Whenever I edit a photo in Google Photo it only allows me to "Save Copy" not just Save the changes (without making a copy) like I used to with my Galaxy S8. I've tried removing and installing the app and changing the default storage to SD but with no luck. Anyone else having this issue? I'm able to edit the photos without saving a copy when I make changes on my laptop. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

I just tried it on my S10e. So I tapped on one of the images, then edited it by making it brighter for example. Then on right top there was a button "Save", but if I go to 3 dots which are on top as well, there is save copy option as well.

You probably didn't enable "back up and sync" in the settings of Google Photos app

In my case, if I don't turn on backup and sync in the app, then I try to save the photo, there is no button, but once I enable backup and sync again, then the save option is there.
