Oh, ahaha I never tried this. Will report back.

You sure can. Lol me.

Yep, authenticators can be used on any number of accounts. That's why it was (till the email confirmation) so easy for hackers to add them to stolen accounts.
AFAIK you couldn't use multiple apps anyway, as the Blizzard app stores the key in its own private preferences file.
Remember to de-register the authenticator if you are planning on upgrading the OS....just in case.
If you are rooted, you can grab the preferences file and import it into the Windows version of the Authenticator (code.google.com/p/winauth) as a backup.

Or you can just use Titanium Backup and you won't have to deregister anything.

OR pay the 2 bucks for a physical one lol.

IMing on Android?

Okay, so I know I can add Windows Live, AIM, Yahoo!, etc. accounts to contact details. Then, when I go to the contact, I can supposedly 'click' on the say Windows Live to chat, but when I do, nothing happens. Am I missing something? Does the Nexus One come with the applications built in or do I have to download them? If I have to download them, what would be your suggestions?
I got ebuddy...works great (facebook chat is iffy sometimes but everything else is flawless)

I've used Nimbuzz and Fring and they both work just fine for your IMing needs.

Yes that's correct. The only chat/IM capability that the Nexus One has embedded in it is Google Talk, and that's only because it has several Google Apps included with it.
Technically, none of those are included in "Android." Android is the Operating System.
Curious, what gave you the impression that all those other clients were supported by the Operating System on the Nexus One without running an app?

Well, because when I added them, it says Chat with Windows Live and you can click it, but I guess it has the functionality to 'hook' onto an application that actually supports said chat service? I guess I should of known. XD

+1 for ebuddy.
You create a free ebuddy account and all your IM logins to account. I have AIM, MSN,GMAIL, FACEBOOK. all in my ebuddy account. So when i login to my ebuddy account all those IM apps are logins also.

You are 100% correct. After you install an IM client, it'll load the app you installed when you click "chat with.." through contacts.
Gotta love android intents.
Now if only yahoo/msn/aim would create proper push im clients for android....grrr

very nice to see it grouped into 1. i have all on ONLINE group so when i sign in everything is grouped together.
Best one I've tried so far. Besides the one that came on Enomther's ROM.

The first version of android on the g1 had a default app. Some devs cook it into there roms. Don't know why google removed it out was better than any other in my opinion.

[Q] email accounts backup and restore

I became a flashholic thanks to all the awesome roms by hardworking developers... Now, everything becomes just automatic and routine but only thing i have to manually do (every time I flash) is to set up the email accounts (exchange emails on stock email apk) and it becomes very annoying... I use tibu for backup and restore.. but it doesn't recover email accounts and settings.. is there a way that I can restore email accounts automatically?? (I should've known better...my email addresses and passwords are damn long...) Please help???

I never did find a way to backup the stock e-mail accounts because it is treated as a system app with system data. To get around it, I started using K-9 email: much better than stock email and the accounts are backed up with TiBU.

But I need to backup mail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn... All the accounts.
Any ideas how?
TiBu should back up the other accounts accts separately. Unless you are setting up the sync with the stock acct sync.

Why does the contacts app suck?

I'm new to Android, but the contacts app really sucks.
I can't update contacts uploaded from a vcard file.
Can't see addresses.
Coming from Palm, this is much less useful.
Anybody got a better app?

I am running CM7 stable, but do remember having issues with stock several months ago. There are some workarounds to get things going. Look at these two links. There are several options to attempt. The Navdress Book worked for me. Good luck.

The stock Contacts app is not intended for anything except using with the stock B&N apps. It does not sync against Google etc... It's pretty much useless IMO. It's not the same app you'd see on any standard Android installation, as they would all use your Google account to sync etc.
In order to get contacts in the stock NC ROM for the purposes of sending emails etc, there are various kludges. It's one of a handful of limitations of the stock ROM.

[DEV] [TEST] Facebook Sync [Possible Solution]

Quite a few of you have asked me about the Facebook not syncing with 2.3.4 since Google decided to make it a no-no...Below is a link to a compiled .apk file that, hopefully, fixes the syncing problem.
*ContactsProvider.apk* TESTING ONLY and not responsible if something bad happens!! What I can say is that I have been running this on my phone with no problems but since I don't use Facebook..maybe someone else can let me know.
- Lastly, do NOT sign the .apk
- push to /system/app

SyncMyPix works well
I can't wait to see it working on my Xoom. I really hope your solution will be universal.
Also, I cannot test on my Nexus S, as CM7 has already the sync working.
So, is this a working solution?
I just picked up a NS4G and would love to get this working.
same here. as a matter of fact, why did google decide to go against this?

They wanted the data to be synced to the contact so that it would be on Google's servers... i.e. their picture is uploaded to the server, and no longer requires Facebook sync for the data.
Yes those are the rules for using Google's contact API. The philosophy is that the user should be able to export and have control over data his contacts have shared with him. Facebook wants all that data to stay in the Facebook system. They do not want to allow you to export or own or have control of your friends contact info outside of Facebook.
The rule has always been there and Facebook has always violated it. This is Google's way of letting them know they are not happy about it even though they continue to let it slide on pretty much all other devices.

Any news on this app would like to resync them again thanks
I've been using an apk called syncmypix and it works wonders..
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
It sync's the pix, there are dozents of tools like that...we need a data sync tool which sync's fb data, not only pics, with the phone contacts...
I've been using Contapps (also on the Android Market) to get around this issue.
Works great.
Actually, Contapps is a good app and can sync with social networks, including Facebook.

Maybe someone clever enough should just have a look into Cm7 source code or just ask the team. They have the answer and I am sure they are willing to share.

The Facebook app package name just needs to be added to the various unrestricted packages lists. Then its free to do whatever with your data, ignoring Google's restrictions.
I will try and find out exactly which parts of code it requires changed some time this week, I believe its XML only.

Or....
Go here: http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/10/synchronizing-google-and-facebook.html.
Install on your PC. Run. Log in. Boom, synced.
Thanks to Koush.
That's not the same thing as what the Facebook app does. Koush's app just takes the photo from Facebook and updates the photo in your Google Contact entry for the person. That photo is then permanent until you manually remove it on the Google Contacts website.
The Facebook app only stores the photo in the person's contact on your phone, but not in the actual Google contact entry. The advantage of this is that if you remove Facebook, the pics go away as well. It keeps Facebook and Google Contacts separate. This is how Twitter, Last.FM, Qik, et al do it.

I know. I like that better. I did not like syncing photos, then I log into Gmail Contacts and all the photos were gone. I like to have the photos in Gmail too.
But my post really was in reply to another user who suggested another 3rd party app to sync the pictures. I meant to quote his post but I did not.

[Q] (Q) Android Market keeps changing default account

So I have two different gmail accounts on my LG Thrill. (One Business, One Personal)
The market app keeps changing the default account to my business account.
Makes it harder to keep up with updates.
Is there any way to fix this?
Sorry if this is a newb question, I can't figure it out.
When you first set up the phone...which account did you use during set up. mine always defaults to that account and never changes.
If you need to change that...the only way i am aware of is a factory reset ...or manually switch (which until now...i had no idea you could do)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Thats what odd is that my personal account was the one that was set up first, yet it keeps trying to change to the other.

Oh good, my G2x with CM7 has been doing the same thing. Thought I was going to have to wipe. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
Agreed. It's really annoying having to keep switching back to my primary account. I don't want to make any purchases until it's fixed. Don't want to risk the purchase going to an incorrect account.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Unless you've added a credit card to the other account(s), then there will be no risk on making purchases under the wrong account.
If you're that paranoid, you can always activate the PIN protection so it forces you to enter a PIN code to authorise an app purchase.

It seems to be every time there is an update to the market app. Just updated again last night. Not sure on a fix yet.
What's the latest version of the market?
Im glad its not just me.. Im having the same problem. The account I used to set the phone up is my main account but it keeps switching to my other account and its fustrating. I dont even have a thrill I have a HTC desire Z. I guess this is a cross platform thing.
It started with me when I updated to 2.3.6, it could be the market though. But I noticed that in sync settings that my accounts are in alphabetical order now, and it switches to the top one. Which is also my google apps business account, and my original account is on the bottom, which is my personal. Rooted Nexus S, stock 2.3.6 rom and kernel.
Update
Market version 3.1.5
In the market, accounts menu, my accounts display in my original installed order. It defaults to the wrong account when it notifies that there is an app update.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
same problem here on an SGS2 @ 2.3.5
Same problem for me on my Droid 3 (which is rooted, but running the stock flavor of the OS). I found where some folks on the official Android Market forum have a thread going that describes this same problem. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. In the meantime, I will probably just removed my secondary Google accounts for now, since I rarely actually need to use them.
-SR-
Same thing on my Thunderbolt. I have 3 accounts. my personal (first to set up and my "primary" online account), then my 'professional' account (tied to things like LinkedIn, used for resumes and such) and a third 'random' account used for things like 1 time deals and such.
I had root with stock and running CM7. on both ROMs i'd still have my perofessional account be the "primary" account in the market. frustrating.
