this is what i get.
i tried changing the wifi module file on /system/lib/modules but it didnt work
i am using cm5.0.7.1, tried froyo, 5.0.6
and im still on 4.04.00.03_2 radio
Make sure you use the correct ko file for your kernel and the correct radio for the build (don't use the froyo radio on 2.1 rom).
Why does it say beautiful wifi widget, try from the settings instead.
i tried changing ko file because wifi didnt work from the fresh cm5.0.7.
and these new ones i tried didnt work neither.
and the radio is the one cm provided on the forum with 5.0.7.
i dont know why beautiful widget is reacting to the changing wifi status from settings..
The ko file has to match the build of the kernel, so every kernel will have to change the wifi module to match it. There isn't one ko file that will work for multiple kernels.
i already know that but i was trying everything i could read on the google.
so i put the stock ko file from cm back. still not working tho
I hope i put this in the right section.
Long and short yesterday I started having market issues where anything I would install would get stuck on installing on the market app but in the notification bar it would say it was installed. I figured something was screwy so i did a full wipe and installed another Rom. The issue repeated itself on the next 3 Roms i tried even when i went back to a 2.1 build.
I also noticed that my phone likes to remove the stuck on installing app's on a reboot. I am not using Apps2Sd.
Is anyone else having this problem? I did a few searches but could not come up with a solution.
Had the same/similar problem with the OTA froyo build (stock), Apps would constantly report they had failed to download, and market would crash if i tried cancel a download while another was running.
The second ota update FRF91 appears to have fixed the problem for me, so may be worth looking for a rom that incorporate's the changes
Tried a few more Rom's they all seem to have this issue.
I have done full wipes and this issue persists I am completely at a loss.
yep i have the same issue. did you by chance install cyanogenmod 6.0 alpha 1? thats when it first started for me.
Now even after going back to stock froyo the issue is still there after wiping.
workaround is to kill the market app, but that doesn't solve the issue. I think something is stuck on the google server side.
If I sign in with a different google account, things are fine.
Yes I did install cm6 alpha 1. And you are right I noticed the issue from that point on. It is very frustrating as out seems to have screwed up my google account going forward.
Hopefully someone comes up with a fix for this issue.
My problem is a Server Error on the download tab, but same symptom in that using a different google account after a wipe causes NO problems.
If a wipe doesn't fix it, how is this not a google server problem? And who on earth at Google could fix it? (or would given that we're not on the 100% stock reservation?)
Randy
following the instructions in this thread fixes the issue for me.
Basically, replacing the vending_preferences.xml file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689133
I've attached the file I use to this thread.
Rename it to vending_preferences.xml and push it to /data/data/com.android.vending/shared_prefs/
+1 cyan alpha had the same problem so I decided to revert back to my previous froyo rom. None of em fixed the problem. Not even the frf91 like the previous poster suggested. Ill delete some stuff in the SD uncheck back up files from privacy setting and see if anything works.

Same for me!!!
Did you kill the market app afterwards?
I'm not sure what your server issue is, but modified vending_preferences.xml did fix my issue with installing apps getting stuck.
Don't have to reboot phone to fix it though, just have to forcestop from applications setting.
Same problem:
(can't post outside links, but go to google's android support forum and look at thread ID 3e3a6c8eadb9acbd - or search for the subject "After 2.2 Update, missing "Top Paid" button from market")
www . google . com / support / forum / p / android / thread?tid=3e3a6c8eadb9acbd&hl=en
I'm betting if you factory reset the phone and sign into a different google account the problem will be fixed. Something got wacked with my primary google account when I signed in after installing FRF85B, and now it's permanently stuck, even after rolling back to ERD79.
Don't know if it will help the gurus here, but this is what I get when I launch Market with my primary account:

Same exact errors for me too.
I am having the same issue with an EVO running the latest stock 2.1 ROM w/ current updates. I am going to try and sign in with a new Gmail account and see if that fixes it for me. I'll edit my post with results.
Here's another thread in the market forum, with a less-than-stellar Google response:
www . google . com / support / forum / p / Android+Market / thread?tid=3ca03be96dee2acf&hl=en
I have the exact same errors.
This is very frustrating as I know it seems like only a minor irritant but who knows what else this issue can effect.
vendor fix did not work for my "market stuck on installing" issue.
To the posted who said sign in on another gmail account do you mean sign in on another then sign back to your old one?

Unfortunately No - I can't sign into my main account at all (either first thing after a factory refresh, or as a secondary account later on). Once my phone talks to my primary account in any way, the "top paid" tab disappears, and the problems begin.
So I tried to install the Google Search and Voice Search on my Nexus One running CM6 RC2.
Everything else seems to be updating & installing fine, but these two new ones announced today download and always get "Installation Unsuccessful" triangles.
Anyone have any ideas?

Same here.
So it's a problem with CM6 RC2?
I'm using a stock rooted rom and I get the same error..
Yeah, I have just noticed the same thing, chrome to phone installed just fine however the voice search will not install
nexus one also on rc2
I'm encountering the same problem, CM6 RC2 on Droid.

From the comments responding to the announcement, here is how it can be made to install on custom ROMs. Just tested this:
Just run the following commands to uninstall the old system apps if you use a custom rom.
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
adb uninstall com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
adb shell rm /system/app/VoiceSearch.apk
adb uninstall com.google.android.voicesearch
This will let the new ones install from market without the package signing error

Is it possible to just uninstall the Voice Search.apk from titanium backup?
Am i missing something? mines is the same old google voice search. I see no help and everything opens in the browser.
ty rmagruder. Worked like a charm.

First and easiest thing to try is to do a factory wipe right now to go back to your current base ROM. Don't install any apps. Does the problem happen? If not, next test..
Flash a STABLE ROM and DON'T install any other apps, does it happen? If no reboots, install your apps (manually from the market). Is it still okay? Next test..
Flash the ROM you were having trouble with again, with no apps, does it happen? Install your apps (manually from the market), does it happen?
You can't start guessing unless you narrow the problem. It's simple to do. Of course each time you flash a ROM, wipe data etc.. Start fresh.
When it reboots, open Command prompt in Windows and write: adb bugreport.
Look for the line containing "ARM9". Something like "ARM9 has crashed".
If you find it - return the phone, it's bad.
tried everything its a hardware issue .. how can i repair it?? help
What's up everyone
My GN1 started having the problem way before I got Gingerbread. My phone is all stock, never rooted.
I tried isolating the problem to an app or an specific thing I did to cause it to reboot.
Then I was able to confirm that the problem happens w/ the phone is charging either wall charger or USB cable . When the phone charges and I use a lot of data (browsing, youtube, IM, FB, etc.) mostly during heavy data connection use the phone will restart. None of this happens when the phone is unplugged.
Also I thought that it could've been an overheating problem but the phone runs cool, a bit warmer when charging but nothing abnormal.
Give this a try and might be the problem that you are having.
I'm having the same problem since some days!!!
And I really don't know what to do, cause I've tried ALL sort of procedure! :'-(
I have an unlocked bootloader so it'll be a problem for the Repair Service? I'm ita.
Thanks!

rebooting randomly
Hi, i have the same issues here with my nexus one... i had in the past, unlocked, rooted and installed CM6, wasnt having any issues at all... but since i installed CM7, troubles started...
this week, i've done some work on that little phone... re-installed stock image, updated to 2.3.4 from OTA, done nothing else, except installing su for terminal purposes... and then, i tried to replicate troubles, which i did easily...
at first, i thought it was heat... not the case, then i remarked that it kept crashing randomly on 3g network connections, since i never have issues watching youtube on my wifi at home, but when im in the bus going to work, it crashed on youtube... so i tried other network datacomm on the 3g, and i can easily make it crash. i can never make it crash on the wifi tho...
so i started adb shell, did su, then logcat command, which gives me output in realtime of whats happening...
this output shows when i started youtube... the video started to play in portrait, so i swithc my creen landscape to get it full screen and BAM! crash, here is the output

Hi,
I've been using cyanogenmod in my p880 for a while now and it worked pretty well until last weekend when it started loosing radio (gsm) signal.
After a while I noticed that when I was home, connected to wifi, it didn't occur.
Testing a little bit I found out that the problem was in the 3g. If I set the phone to use only 2g it works, but when I switch to 3g it looses the radio signal after a minute and does not work again until reboot.
The phone gets hot and the battery consumption increases a lot. In the battery status it shows that the "Phone" app's cpu time in "real time", like 100% usage, even with no calls at all..
I'm currently using nightly builds of CM 11, but I flashed the stable CM10 (with factory reset, data wipe) and the problem persisted. Then I flashed the latest nightly again, after another reset/wipe.
To use logcat I turned on the phone using only 2g, started logcat and when switched to 3g. The complete log can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B29xKdkT5wYzZmhleFZlcUhYc28/edit?usp=sharing
It was the first time I saw a logcat file, so I'm not sure, but I found some relevant things:
05-19 17:34:28.263 D/MobileDataStateTracker( 531): default: Broadcast received: android.intent.action.ANY_DATA_STATE apnType=default
05-19 17:34:28.263 D/MobileDataStateTracker( 531): default: Received state=CONNECTED, old=CONNECTED, reason=(unspecified)

05-19 17:34:28.323 D/MobileDataStateTracker( 531): supl: Received state=DISCONNECTED, old=DISCONNECTED, reason=radioTurnedOff
I hope someone can help me so I can use 3g again...
Thanks
check the settings for your apn
try with another kernel
Does this happen with absolutely no apps installed? (i.e fresh install?)
So I am not alone

+1 here
I believe that it all started around 0427 Nightly, not sure, though.
I thought of switching to 2g network only yesterday after reading an old post in CM forums.
Did not have time to pull a logcat, yet, thanks for sharing! Hope somebody will figure out what the problem can be...

My settings are as per wind IT specifications, but I noticed that in CM settings there is much more than specified by Wind, such as apn protocol, apn roaming protocol and bearer, which values are unknown to me. Will investigate on those values.
Tried also with official CM11 stock kernel, with no success.
No, I did not try with no apps installed, I will keep this test as the very last resort. I did not install new apps since when the problem started.

I checked the apn settings and they are ok..
It happened with a fresh install as well, when I fleshed CM10.
I didn't try another kernel yet, but Ottonet did and it did not solve the problem
SignalStrength: Hotfix TD-SCDMA
There could be some interesting news for those like me who are affected by network losses when in 3G.
One of the commits that will be compiled in tomorrow nightly amends misbehaviours in Android/telephony/SignalStrength.java
This is "Take 2".
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/94186f84815c8f179ebee6b1d07b086fd06af489
The first attempt was made (so far as I was able to reconstruct) on April 28th, see here
https://gitorious.org/cyandreamproj...mmit/cbd9cf1fa383ea588a5a445306534c01f8aa1ca8
I believe I've had 3g issues since the end of april.
Now, I'm not android developer at all, and I would not like to arise too much xpectations or to get overexcited about something that has nothing to do with network losses when in 3g, so I would really appreciate if somebody more skilled than me would provide some comment/explanations.
[EDIT] it turned out that it was *today's nightly*, so, if there is some improvement, it can be enjoyed right away.
Downloading...
[EDIT 05232014] No joy. Whataver it did that fix, it did not solve the network loss issue.

Just confirming, I also installed the last nightly (05-24) and the problem persists.
Does anyone think it could be a hardware problem?

I have the same problem as well, it started around 2 - 3 weeks ago, I was on beanstalk 4.4.2, a build from march, if I remember correctly. I had no issues before, but suddenly I lost signal every time on 3G. I tried several Roms with and without the RIL-Patch by Flying_Bear, but nothing helped so far. The only "workaround" is to stay on 2G. I'm starting to get tired of constantly reflashing my phone to try other Roms.
Its strange, that the same error occurred around the same time for so many people. I would like to know if it also happens on stock, or if its a special hardware-revision that fails. My phone version is SWS-Black (Swiss market, but bought in Germany).
It looks like something in the connection behavior got changed. When using earlier nightlies you could observe the phone connecting via HSPA+ (H+) everytime it was possible. But in later builds the phone only connects via HSPA+ if you actively use mobile data and changes back the connection to HSDPA (H) afterwards, thus resulting in constant changes between those network types. I believe this change was included to save battery but it really doesn't if your phone constantly loses connection and you have to reboot. Maybe this change was a global one but as you can see our phone can't handle it. Hopefully demetris can either identify that change and revert it or fix it.
@rob3110 , i understand your frustration, i'm changing ROM too. I also did try EPRJ RIL without success. Now I'm experimenting a RIL from CM 10.2. It seems no Dev is looking into it, it's a pity. I'm trying to analyze error logs but I'm no real Dev... You can post your logs if you like

Right now I'm trying the strange bug-fix JustChris20 posted in the EPJR-RIL-fix thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53015495&postcount=105
1. install your rom of your choice.
don't modify anything, no ril, nothing...
2. shutdown your system and remove your battery. Now press the power button for 30 seconds. Wait further one minute. Now insert your battery back and start handy. enjoy your network... ?

(But without flashing a new Rom) So far I haven't lost connection for the last hours, but it is to early to be certain. I'll have to test it for at least some days or weeks to know, if it helped permanently. Maybe it helps others as well.
Just for interest, what carriers are those on with this error, or what countries are they from? Does it only happen in Europe (I'm from Germany)? If so, what happened, did something change with the hsdpa or hsdpa+ networks? Or does this error occur all over the world?

I am having the same troubles and I am also from Germany (carrier: simyo).
I did follow your instructions and will report if it worked or not.
Edit: today I did have another disconnect, so unfortunately this rather easy "fix" didn't work out (at least for me).
Hopefully someone finds another sollution.

Yeah, didn't work for me either. I still get those disconnects on 3G. I will ask my carrier (E-Plus) if there was a recent change to the 3G-network that might have brought us this error, but I don't think they will give me a useful answer...
