ClockWorkMod Recovery for the Incredible has been updated to v2.5.0.5

You can use unrEVOked v3.1 to flash a custom recovery.

Does it flash radio images???
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Sort of.
No amount of recovery modifications is going to allow you to flash unsigned radios magically.
I suggest installing this, but don't try to flash a radio or anything -- it won't work.
I believe that it will now allow signed firmware updates (like those that come with RUUs). Clockworkmod will now correctly boot you to HBOOT and install the update. You will lose clockworkmod when you do this if the firmware update includes a stock recovery. You cannot mod the firmware update
So, I suggest installing this; but wait on any firmware flashes.

you are still going to need to flash through Unrevoked as nand is still locked.

Has anyone tried using unrevoked 3.1 to upgrade CMR? I tried two times without success...unrevoked 3.1 hung on second "waiting for reboot". After unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in I got a seg fault.

Just did, and no problems. Linux. Rom manager shows 2.5.0.1, but booting into recovery, it's 2.5.0.5.

hmmm...also running Linux. Did you just load the .img file from the File menu and then plug the phone in?

Running Windows...do I just save the 2.5.0.5 file as a .zip to my SD card and install file from CWM?

No just download the .img file and load it up in unrevoked and plug your phone in and let unrevoked do the rest
Sent from my HTC DROID INCREDIBLE using Tapatalk

So I just tried it on unrevoked windows and every time it just gets stuck at trying to push the image through. Going to redownload it and see if it's the image itself.

Power Down feature
Would it be possible to add and option to Power Down.

Yes! Finally got .0.5 running. The img never pushed through so I just downloaded the zip and ran it as an update. Beautiful.

Why would I need to update and what is the benefit? Thanks!

I flashed to the latest ClockWorkMod and everything seemed to go fine. It rebooted into recovery showing the new version, but I recieved the error below when it completed. I know after this step it usually reboots the phone and starts back up, but for some reason it didn't. Everything seems to be fine but I just want to make sure for my own sanity that this error won't do any harm to the phone.

No, that is a known issue. It is the "Windows is retarded." issue.
Don't worry, it just didn't reapply root to your phone. Since you were already rooted, nothing is amiss.

How do you update this from unrEVOked on PC?

[DEV][Recovery] Two new recovery images || ROM devs please take note.

Hello,
I have compiled two new recovery images for us from source.
ClockworkMod
The first one is ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5, based on the new Gingerbread sources. It is NOT an official ClockworkMod build and is NOT perfect. Do not bother koush about it, he will ignore you.
This recovery has a new font suited for our low resolution screen, and features orange text, as well as some nice new features. It's generally an improvement over the old ClockworkMod we have.
Download ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5
Amon_RA
I have also compiled us Amon_RA recovery based on his v2.0.0 sources. Again this is neither official nor perfect. Don't bother Amon_RA, he will probably ignore you too.
Download Amon_RA recovery here.
General info:
Both recoveries are reported to have bugs with sd-ext mounting, but other than that they seem to work okay.
Devs: It is worth noting that ClockworkMod 3.x only supports installing ROMs using Edify, (i.e. updater-script and binary), and not Amend (update-script). This is because Google actually got rid of Amend in cupcake. This DOES break installation of Sense ROMs, and so I advise devs to try out this recovery and try to move to the Edify method. Everybody else, be patient in the meantime.
You can flash either recovery using unrevoked (select custom recovery image), or using fastboot when we get S-OFF from AlphaRev (still waiting )
Feel free to contact me if you are having trouble, but I will probably only help you out if you are a dev (for now anyway).
Have fun
Reserved
wowww nice work jacob... will try them... Esp the AMON_RA recovery... i was waiting for it.. great work as usual... thanks...
Rocking Clockwork although I might try amon_ra, never had it before. Can't wait for alpharev, it'll make it SO much easier.
Does this version of clockworkmod correct the bug for charging while off ?

Thanks pal
I know I'm not Jacob but I think the sd-ext stuff isn't working, don't take my word for it though.
Sweet. I'm on Amon Ra. Can u flash recovery without unrevoked cuz it breaks superuser app. Ans I can't flash clockwork in unrevoked, says firmware is too new.

I think that flash_image will do it in your terminal.

I can't install amon_ra recovery, in unrevoked give me allways this message at the end : "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new ?"
Any idea of what it is ??
EDIT: Problem solved Now with amon_ra recovery, thank you jacob.

You can (if you have'nt already understand that) with the help of ROM manager install SU again and that would probably fix your problem with superuser app.

In Unrevoked, you specify the custom recovery (recovery.img) with CTRL+R or File -> Custom Recovery. You don't put it on the SD card, you stupid moron.

as you do with every update that is not OTA
Download the update file and rename it to update.zip
Move the file to your phone's /sdcard directory
Reboot your phone and when it starts booting back up, hold Volume Up + Power
Select Recovery
The phone will reboot into recovery but first it'll show an exclamation point and a triangle. At this point, mash the Power and Volume Up buttons a few times until the recovery screen shows up OR if you have rooted your phone and have installed CWM you will see cwm's menu...choose update from sd card and then find the update.zip file
Select Apply sdcard update.zip
Reboot and enjoy (hopefully) Android 2.3.6

[Q] How to install CM nightly build on N7000 (coming from official version)

I have N7000, factory 4.0.4...I am assuming this is official (I bought this phone as used phone so I don't know previous user installed anything or not)
I want to install CM 10.1 JB 4.2.1 nightly build. (cyanogenmod)
I have read the threads but little confused how to go about it.
Can anyone please give me steps, what to do first..and how to go about it ?
Should I just download and install CM 10.1 nightly build ? or I need any kernel or clockmod ? or anything ?

well make sure you are safe 1st
download philz kernel according to your region
flash it from recovery or odin then you will be rooted with safe kernel
take a nandroid backup in case something went wrong
i guess philz kernel has a bug when installing cm10.1 then just flash hydracore kernel and from recovery mode reboot again to recovery mode
wipe data
wipe cache
advanced
wipe delvik cache
install zip from internal memory
flash cm10.1
flash gapps 12.12.2012
wipe date
reboot
welcome to the underworld

Got OK reset passed success in Odin...but then when phone restarted, it stayed in android logo with yellow triangle.
then I tries wiping out data, catch, delvik etc then nightly build but then getting this error.
FYI: I downloaded this file for kernel: http://www.mediafire.com/file/9ikmm3x76gayuej/PhilZ-cwm6-UBLS4-TCE-3.81.tar.md5

[Q] Installing a custom rom

I rooted my phone yesterday and tryed to install cyanogen 10.1 for android 4.2.2, however instead of putting the zip file in the sd card i had put the extracted files, which was a big mistake, as i had wiped out data and then booted as i couldn't find the rom (i am practically a noob since i was doing all this following a guide but i had mistaken zip files for extracted files). Now when i install rom manager it is hard for me to flash anything as it gets stuck in the screen that says "reboot from sd card" or something like that and when i press ok, it gets stuck in that screen, can someone tell me how to install the rom, im thinking of installing probam
can u also tell how to go into recovery manually, i have clockworkmod recovery (5.x.x i think)

You really don't have to be this rude. We all know that it's annoying to see these threads every two days but that's not an excuse for breaking the rules.
For OP: Search the Forums for Root, Bootloader Unlock and Custom Roms. You should read everything before trying something to prevent damage or you'll probably create a "I bricked my phone! Help!"-thread in two days
The key combo for recovery is vol down + power and release power when LG logo appears or it will reboot (a one minute search for "manually access cwm", just saying)

OK in order to flash custom rom you are required more than rooting.
those are the stages you must fulfill in order to flash :
1- Root :as u say u already rootd " u can check if u rooted properly or not by root checker.apk at play store"
2-Unlock bootloader :you can choose between any ways i prefer two ways 1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263627
b- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
"you can check if bootloader unlocked properly by hiting 3845#*880# then bootloader then checkbootloader the unlock " u should see this "
3- flash custom recovery : i prefer CWM through that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2298420
4- Flash to custom ROM : a- choose ur ROM ,download it as zip file - download Gapps if u like b-put them in to sd card and boot in recovery " power + vol-" choose to install zip file - install first the ROM then GAPPS " optional " - DON"T FORGET TO WIPE DATA AND CASH " after installation to be stable

[Q] GT-I9305: Problems After CF Root on 4.3

Hey, folks.
First-time listener, first-time caller.
My Galaxy SIII GT-I9305 originates from Hong Kong.
When I bought it (used, on Kijiji) it was running 4.1.2
When 4.3 finally became available for this model a couple of weeks ago I bit the bullet and installed it using Kies.
I knew 4.3 had issues but I went ahead anyway because I live dangerously, dontcha know.
Today I decided I wanted root so, instead of taking my time and reading the sage advice of kind people like you I jumped right in with ODIN and Chainfire using Instructions I found on these forums and elsewhere.
The rooting procedure seemed to go off without a hitch. Then the phone booted up. Then this started happening:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Selecting "Update" brings me to this:
And anything I do that requires root gives me this:
I tried re-rooting using a different version of ODIN to no avail.
Posters in other threads suggested re-installing SuperSU.
I tried executing superuser.apk using ES File Explorer and got this:
Incidentally, in Download Mode I can see that I've triggerd the Knox Void Warranty Flag, not that I have a warranty.
At this point I just want to get my phone to work as it did with stock 4.3.
What's my quickest route there?
Upgrade SuperSu
Fails in recovery format system cache data and sdcard.
Boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin.
I don't think the root operation was successful; the Root Checker apps I downloaded hang when I check. I tried launching Titanium Backup and it hangs, too, at "Asking for root rights".
In fact, any time I launch any app that needs root I get the Security Information warning as in my first screenshot.

I downloaded what looks like the right firmware from sammobile.com. Is that a reliable source?
Boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin.

No as your knowledge is zero best start from a clean install .

Can you explain what you meant by this? As you know, I'm pretty wet behind the ears.

Mounts ans storage
Format = wipes all data .

I don't have a custom recovery installed. Should I install one? TWRP?
Mounts and storage? What do you mean by that?
Format? As in I should boot into recovery and choose "wipe data/factory reset"? Can't I do that from stock recovery?
Is this something I have to do before I flash the stock firmware? After?
I'm really confused.
p.s. as it turns out the download from sammobile's host, terrafile, has failed six or seven times now. Are there any mirrors?
Rooting is not working withe. The same problem as post 1 has. What is going on with these phones...
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
Root problem
I too had root problems-rooting OK and then losing it on a restart.This is a GT-I9305 LTE,XXUEMLl5 EE UK firmware and Cf Auto root downloaded from Chainfire's site.I did find 2 versions of the Autoroot file slightly different sizes but both work (up to a point-read on).
So,initially installed 4.3 firmware with PC Odin and Autorooted with same setup.Here's the first catch.As stated by Chainfire,the phone should reboot into stock recovery.If it doesn't you need to do this "manually" and then just reboot-see Chainfire thread.2nd catch.I read somewhere that "Fix permissions" could upset the rooting process,so I wouldn't do that whilst in stock recovery at this stage.
You now should have a rooted firmware but my problem was that if I restarted I would lose the root
My solution was to use Mobile Odin Pro.I know it costs but it did work for me and that make's it worth every penny.Read on.
Whilst you've still got root install the firmware again with MO Pro.This installs root and SuperSu using Everoot.Reinstalling the Supersu or upgrading will possibly tell you that your SU Binary needs updating.When I tried "Normal" it didn't work.At the moment you don't have custom recovery installed,so using MO Pro again install TWRP using their "Open recovery tar" and try updating SU by selecting TWRP/CWM.When script has installed reboot and no more prompt to update binary.I didn't try CWM.Read somewhere it might not work.TWRP does.
Now I have a rooted phone with stock 4.3 on it.Root survives a restart and much use removing all the bloatware that Samsung provide for us.
But that's another story.
I hope this post helps those with root problems.Going through the stages above,working,not working,took a long time but I do now have a rock solid fast 4.3 phone.
Anyone fancy a KitKat?
P.S.Just booted the phone into TWRP and tried fixing permissions.Thankfully still have root but it had a think about it!
Good news:
I managed to update SuperSU— not through Play store but using the superuser.apk file from Chainfire's 1.89 update. It's funny because the version already installed was 1.89.*
I extracted the apk from the package, put it on my external SD card and launched the file using ES File Explorer.
What's also interesting is that I had to try this several times before it worked. Somewhere along the way I also wiped the phone's cache in (stock) recovery mode, although I can't, this morning, recall whether I did that immediately prior to the successful update, although it was definitely some time prior.
*I guess it's not unlike in Windows, when, say, a NIC stops working suddenly, usually a quick driver reinstallation does the trick.
