Hello,
I have compiled two new recovery images for us from source.
ClockworkMod
The first one is ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5, based on the new Gingerbread sources. It is NOT an official ClockworkMod build and is NOT perfect. Do not bother koush about it, he will ignore you.
This recovery has a new font suited for our low resolution screen, and features orange text, as well as some nice new features. It's generally an improvement over the old ClockworkMod we have.
Download ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5
Amon_RA
I have also compiled us Amon_RA recovery based on his v2.0.0 sources. Again this is neither official nor perfect. Don't bother Amon_RA, he will probably ignore you too.
Download Amon_RA recovery here.
General info:
Both recoveries are reported to have bugs with sd-ext mounting, but other than that they seem to work okay.
Devs: It is worth noting that ClockworkMod 3.x only supports installing ROMs using Edify, (i.e. updater-script and binary), and not Amend (update-script). This is because Google actually got rid of Amend in cupcake. This DOES break installation of Sense ROMs, and so I advise devs to try out this recovery and try to move to the Edify method. Everybody else, be patient in the meantime.
You can flash either recovery using unrevoked (select custom recovery image), or using fastboot when we get S-OFF from AlphaRev (still waiting )
Feel free to contact me if you are having trouble, but I will probably only help you out if you are a dev (for now anyway).
Have fun
Reserved
wowww nice work jacob... will try them... Esp the AMON_RA recovery... i was waiting for it.. great work as usual... thanks...
Rocking Clockwork although I might try amon_ra, never had it before. Can't wait for alpharev, it'll make it SO much easier.
Does this version of clockworkmod correct the bug for charging while off ?

Not to bother you jacob! But do you know of anything that isn't perfect?
Thanks pal
I know I'm not Jacob but I think the sd-ext stuff isn't working, don't take my word for it though.
Sweet. I'm on Amon Ra. Can u flash recovery without unrevoked cuz it breaks superuser app. Ans I can't flash clockwork in unrevoked, says firmware is too new.

I think that flash_image will do it in your terminal.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I can't install amon_ra recovery, in unrevoked give me allways this message at the end : "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new ?"
Any idea of what it is ??
EDIT: Problem solved Now with amon_ra recovery, thank you jacob.
How i flash a recovery? I only get a .txt file...

You can (if you have'nt already understand that) with the help of ROM manager install SU again and that would probably fix your problem with superuser app.
Nice, no i can't go back to ClockWorkMod omg.
Huge Success!
Thx Jacob!

Why does anyone bother helping idiots like you? Raging and laughing is way more fun.
In Unrevoked, you specify the custom recovery (recovery.img) with CTRL+R or File -> Custom Recovery. You don't put it on the SD card, you stupid moron.

Sort of.
No amount of recovery modifications is going to allow you to flash unsigned radios magically.
I suggest installing this, but don't try to flash a radio or anything -- it won't work.
I believe that it will now allow signed firmware updates (like those that come with RUUs). Clockworkmod will now correctly boot you to HBOOT and install the update. You will lose clockworkmod when you do this if the firmware update includes a stock recovery. You cannot mod the firmware update
So, I suggest installing this; but wait on any firmware flashes.

Has anyone tried using unrevoked 3.1 to upgrade CMR? I tried two times without success...unrevoked 3.1 hung on second "waiting for reboot". After unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in I got a seg fault.

No just download the .img file and load it up in unrevoked and plug your phone in and let unrevoked do the rest
Sent from my HTC DROID INCREDIBLE using Tapatalk
So I just tried it on unrevoked windows and every time it just gets stuck at trying to push the image through. Going to redownload it and see if it's the image itself.
Power Down feature
Would it be possible to add and option to Power Down.
Yes! Finally got .0.5 running. The img never pushed through so I just downloaded the zip and ran it as an update. Beautiful.

I flashed to the latest ClockWorkMod and everything seemed to go fine. It rebooted into recovery showing the new version, but I recieved the error below when it completed. I know after this step it usually reboots the phone and starts back up, but for some reason it didn't. Everything seems to be fine but I just want to make sure for my own sanity that this error won't do any harm to the phone.

as you do with every update that is not OTA
Download the update file and rename it to update.zip
Move the file to your phone's /sdcard directory
Reboot your phone and when it starts booting back up, hold Volume Up + Power
Select Recovery
The phone will reboot into recovery but first it'll show an exclamation point and a triangle. At this point, mash the Power and Volume Up buttons a few times until the recovery screen shows up OR if you have rooted your phone and have installed CWM you will see cwm's menu...choose update from sd card and then find the update.zip file
Select Apply sdcard update.zip
Reboot and enjoy (hopefully) Android 2.3.6

Guys, i know u can help. I want to flash my N1 to cyanogenmod 7, i know u can help.
I got stock 2.3.4 n1.
I can't unlock bootloader cause i have a broken powerbutton. After i typed "flashboot oem unlock" i need to confirm that by pressing powerbutton, but its broken so i think its not necessary.
So i rooted it with SuperOneClick
I installed ROM manager, backup my stock ROM, than flasing clockwork recovery After reboot i open ROM manager, tapped to install ROM from SD card, choose ROM from SD and rebooted. And now i see only a pic with android it center and yellow exclamation mark. Google says that i have a wrong recovery or wrong installation of clockwork recovery. I waited for couple hours and then get battery off. Now phone boots fine, works fine but i want to flash cyanogenmod. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Before flashing the custom rom, it is recommended to first flash a custom brain. This one seems broken .
You need to have a unlocked bootloader. You cannot do without.
First of all i searched a lot, read a lot here, and i have brains.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Nexus_One/Guides_%26_Tutorials#Flashing_custom_ROM
Here i see:
All i need to flash any ROM is root access, so I can root my phone with unlocking bootloader or use something else
i chose this:
PHP:
Root without unlocking the bootloader.
XDA developers found ways to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader, i.e. without voiding the warranty.
Easy 1-click solution - SuperOneClick
I root my device, install ROM manager, flash custom recovery, reboot.
I want to flash cyanogen mod following instrucions, but its stucks.
Asking again WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

you dont have to unlock bootloader for flashing roms. just rooting is enuf. i recommend to use 4Ext recovery.

install the app and then install recovery.
backup current rom
place new rom in sd.
boot into recovery.
wipe all partitions except sd x3 times

I installed Clockwork Recovery by Rom manager, but it wont install properly as i think cause if i want to reboot to recovery i se only a yellow exclamation mark in triangle and green android in center.
How to fix this now?
i would recommend you to try 4EXT touch recovery. currently its the best. i have provided the link for that in my previous post. or you can get it from www.4ext.net
also i have mentioned the steps in my previous post. if u still got doubts, feel free to ask buddy

Download the cm7.2 stable ROM from CyanogenMod. Check the md5 to ensure it downloaded correctly.http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=passion
Copy it to the root of your SD card. Boot into recovery (recommend 4ext). Wipe all except SD card. Flash the ROM. Reboot.

Forget to mention. If you have loads of apps then you might want to format your SD card and partition with a ext4 partition around 512MB/1GB . Do this using 4ext recovery before you install the ROM.
Of course you need to backup your SD card first if you want to restore media like photos and music. Use titanium backup to backup apps which you can restore later. Install s2e from market to utilise your ext partition once you have the ROM installed

I need to use 4EXT Recovery Updater or 4EXT Recovery Control?
Nevermind it, already installed 4ext recovery control and following instructions installed 4ext recovery touch rc5.
Now i'm going to start flashing. I'll tell u my results.
upd: nothing new. got triangle with yellow "!" inside when trying to boot to recovery, may be i need to flash though 4ext recovery control?

You really don't have to be this rude. We all know that it's annoying to see these threads every two days but that's not an excuse for breaking the rules.
For OP: Search the Forums for Root, Bootloader Unlock and Custom Roms. You should read everything before trying something to prevent damage or you'll probably create a "I bricked my phone! Help!"-thread in two days
The key combo for recovery is vol down + power and release power when LG logo appears or it will reboot (a one minute search for "manually access cwm", just saying)

OK in order to flash custom rom you are required more than rooting.
those are the stages you must fulfill in order to flash :
1- Root :as u say u already rootd " u can check if u rooted properly or not by root checker.apk at play store"
2-Unlock bootloader :you can choose between any ways i prefer two ways 1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263627
b- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020

I have rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, backed up all my data with Titanium, backup up my current JB 4.1.1 ROM with ROM Manager, and installed CWM. I am now in CWM recovery, and I press choose zip from external sdcard and selected the CM 10.2 rom. But I get the error:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /external_sd/cm-11-20131112-NIGHTLY-mb886-epinter.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Look in the development forum for Philz recovery. The CWM recovery from ROM manger is not compatible with newer ROMs. I recommend CM11 as it is a nicely supported ROM. (Updated nightly)

I'm running the Touch CWM 6.0.4.4 and I have been able to install all 4.4 roms with it. You can download the latest version from here and install it via fastboot: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager

Did you extract the img file from the zip? Since you have a custom recovery, you could just flash the zip from recovery.
If Philz doesn't work, try the stock CWM Touch.
Okay I abandoned Philz and managed to flash CWM 6.0.4.4 with rom manager (i think its touch). But I am still getting the same "Installation aborted" when I try to install the zip from /storage/sdcard1. Maybe the file is bad? Its a "NIGHTLY"...
Try another download.

Well the next nightly came out so i'll either try that or wait for a stable.
Are you doing a full format (system, cache, Dalvik, data) before flashing CM11?
Maybe try a different rom (Validus13, OSE)?

As previously stated:
Try flashing a new download, from internal memory (maybe your sd card is borked?). Make sure you also formated system, data, cache and dalvik partitions before flashing. That would be the most clean method. Also get rid of that rom manager crap and get used to fastboot/recovery modes lol. Just my opinion.
