Is there a list of apps that use a wakelock on the android phones? I searched, but all I found was stuff for developers about using one. I was wondering which apps use it because I'm trying to save battery life and don't want anything running unnecessarily.

I have been looking at a few apps in the market and I'm seeing more and more suggestions that the apps are a battery drain. How are these users so sure that one particular app is killing the battery? I can't find any way to see that, only the usage setting that shows display, phone idle, wifi and stuff like that.
Are live wallpapers really a battery hog when the device is not in use (display off and no other apps running)?
I'm using Tasker and have several (ok...17) tasker widgets that manage many settings and apps. I also have a few dozen profiles that manipulate tasks that are associated with those widgets. Any consensus that Tasker is a culprit? I do use it for alot of stuff.

I'm assuming that by 'usage settings' you mean -> settings, about phone, battery usage
If so, that should give you more of a breakdown than just what you had listed there...

I think you can use task manager to see what's running. It's a lot of experimentation . I'm testing itnow and it seems ok . I did a clean install of the sense Rom..( I prefer this UI) I installed no utilities no task killer no Setcpu nothing. I did not install Google voice disabled Google talk. Left background data but unchecked autosync. I put the HTC sync widget on desktop so I can hit it ever so often when I got the itch. Keeping gps WiFi bt off till needed will report back
Searched the market and found 191 task managers. Which dev are you referring to?

So being a somewhat compulsive about Flashing new ROMs and having the same problem for testing apps my list of apps in the play store has become impossible to navigate.
It was great at first as it had a list of apps I could easily use to update my phone should I be moving between different versions of Android without using titanium backup.
The issue is now I have so many apps in there, most of which I hardly use, or in same cases have used only once which I don't want. This makes it a waste of time as I need to scroll through a lot of unwanted apps to track down the ones i actually want.
Anyone got a way to remove these apps from the list? That way I can just keep my purchased apps and ones I need in the list.
I have attempted a search on XDA and Google without much luck so just wondering if someone has a solution.
Hey guys, i was looking for an application which could show me how much i use which app. What i mean to say is that i want to know which application i use the most and which i use the least and what do i not use at all. I tried searching on xda as well as on the play store. No luck, All the apps that came up in the result were these data monitoring apps and battery or ram managing apps. Nothing that i am interested in.
Could anyone show me a user friendly android app which can effectively show which apps cause memory leaks on a phone?
I can only find developer tools to detect memory leaks within apps like Eclipse MAT. Sadly I'm not a developer so I would rather prefer just a list of apps to uninstall and not the exact cause of memory leak within a specific app.
Thx for any help!
You can always check in settings battery usage. The longest bar eats the battery a lot.

In the xTraSmooth thread the developer provides advice on how to maximize battery life and in it he alludes to how greenify and cleanmaster shouldnt be used as it mitigates what android does on its on in terms of task management.
This prompted me to read up on it extensively and there are equal arguments for and against using greenify for example.
I just wanted to open up this thread and see if other more experienced people on this forum use greenify and/or cleanmaster and can provide reasoning why or why not .
Thanks

I don't. I use SD maid pro on a schedule for cleaning of junk files and cache. I don't use greenify. I regularly see 5-6 hours of SOT. Most of battery life is depending on specific user apps and usage. I keep ambient display off, using native led control from custom ROM settings. I keep brightness at around 30-35%. Location is set to battery saving. I'm generally on WiFi or strong LTE signal, which also plays a huge role.
Screenshots from today:
Clean master is crap. Greenify is alright.
I have found better luck with kernel tweaks. And adjusting my settings. I also use SD Maid Pro.
Not sure about clean master. Anything that removes tasks from memory constantly can have a negative effect on battery if you use that a lot, so clearing recents regularly is not a good idea as apps use more could cycles to open fresh than from a cached process, which you're terminating by clearing recents. So apps you use regularly will use much more power if you're always starting them fresh. I see no harm in clearing individual tasks from recents if you're not going to use them for a long time.
Greenify I do use. There are many apps that just don't close properly or just keep wakelocks that you don't require so hibernation isn't a bad thing of you know what apps you're hibernating.. It's not the same as termination either.
