I'm looking for a place to find kernels for my n1, specifically one that only had the broadcom wifi fix applied and no other extra features.

The dev section. Most have other mods/improvements. Your best bet if you're picky is to learn to apply and compile the kernel yourself.
Good suggestion. Can you point me to some kind of tutorial?

do people even bother looking? you can easily find them in the development section

I've been searching around but haven't been able to find any very helpful guides.
And seeing the lack of interest from most dev except the few great ones we have is making my interest peak in finally learning.
So does anyone have any suggestions?

What are you trying to do? If it is root phone, etc. look under development at the superguide. Otherwise for development look online at books and read the reviews to see which ones are better.

We have a great general knowledge guide in the general section. As well as the superguide, index, and all in one tool. Not sure what else you're looking for...
Whoops sorry about missing some info in my post. Wrote that right before falling asleep. I'm looking for tutorials and guides to building custom roms and such. I've been doing the basics of rooting and flashing for the last few years and now want to try going a bit more in-depth.

Thanks for the tip. I'm looking more into trying to compile my own kernel atm. I know its a lot harder to start but we all need to learn somewheres .
I'm playing around with trying to build a asop kernel. Haven't really found a 'definitive' guide to start with unfortunately. Cooking a Rom seems to be the most popular options at the moment

How come the I-957 and the 73xx are in the same section. Aren't they completely different? You can't flash a rom from one to another. So why not have them seperated in to individual development sections...
I think this would eliminate bricking and confusion and it would clean up the way we look for roms. Also probably other things aswell.
What needs to be done in order to acomplish this?
Thanks for all your attention.
PS. Can someone make a poll with all the different models to pick which ones we have... This would demonstrate how many people have what device and help to make a decision if it would be better to split it up.
For example the EVO 3d. It has a CDMA and a GSM dev section. Because they are pretty different...

I agree with you completely.
I talked to the forum moderator about who to talk to, and I commented in a post where they were asking about requests for a new forum. Don't know what else to do really.
The problem as I see it as this is not a very common tablet that a lot of people have, so there is not a lot of demand for a new forum. But I encourage you to try as well and maybe we can get something done.
Yes, I would like a new forum for this tab as well... Feel like it would keep bricking and confusion to a minimum.
Well I'm mostly on the xda app... And I don't know the different model numbers.
Can one of you make a poll so we can choose which one each person has...

makes sense. I too was confused by the mixing of different hardware generations under one name. Separation of the 7300 and 7310 from the qualcomm devices (7320 + i957) is the only way to make any sense of this mess. Otherwise we'll have to label each thread with the hardware version.
There is almost no common ground aside from the physical dimensions so why not make a new forum.
Another vote for a separate forum for the Qualcomm-based machines, please.

Make that one more vote
we need to let someone know who has the power to actually make the forum.

I'd do it but I'm not sure how. I see the option to add a poll to a thread with the number of options but when I preview the post I see nothing as far as the poll goes. The mods and members here seem kinda grumpy to me at times so I was leary of creating the thread. I'm not sure if the poll options pop up before the thread is actually created or what.
No one can make a poll?. Please some one try.

The 7300 and the 7310 are the Tegra 2 versions, while the 7320 and the i957 are the Snapdragon versions.
The snapdragon version are both LTE? Are both tegra only WiFi? And what's the difference between each...
Would roms work for both 7300 and 7310?
And would this also apply to the 7320 and i957... What changes.. partitions?

The 7300 is the Tegra 3g tablet, while the 7310 is wifi. These have interchangeable ROMs, but using a wifi rom on a the 7300 loses 3g.
The 7320 and the i957 are both the same, but the i957 has different partition tables, though it is only a few changes for a ROM. They are both LTE.
Ok. Are both LTE tablets on the same band?

absolutely agreed they need to be seprated i have the at&t one.
Please post on this thread so it gets officially recognized.

Hi everyone,
Please answer my question.... I spoke with a developer of AOKP rom and he willing make an support for i957 version tab with his kickass AOKP rom.
If you guys seriously want custom rom on your i957 Tab and Lets make it happen!
Here his response.
@nycbjr
well I dunno a ton about this device, I know its quite abit different from the gt7310/7300, has any aosp rom dev been done? to kick out a build I would need at minimum a device tree, and then the proprietary files that are on your device (thats not too hard, if you have root you can pull the files easy..
if I have a second I can do some research.. but if you start me in the right directing with say a git repo, or even the src from samsung (hc3.1 is a fine start) we might be able to get someting going... and then u'd have to be a member of the team to support it

What's this guy's name? I'll be glad to speak with him and maybe help us get some AOKP, since I do have somewhat of a device tree and an AOSP rom.
It says right there in his post, it's nycbjr, the galaxian soup guy.
Hi guys I know this seems pretty far fetched but is anyone willing to develop a port of the GB MIUI to the Bionic? If its POSSIBLE why hasn't anyone done it? If it isn't possible why can't it be done? I'm still trying to understand why no one's attempted this task since it has been the most popular rom up to date and it seems like MIUI4ever has just dropped off the face of the earth as of late. while i'm a big fan of InSaNeMoD's attempt to port it properly i'm seriously missing my OG Droid for my MIUI rom.
I could try porting it, no guarentees though!

I've wondered why no one did this first to begin with! Want a fully working rom other than eclipse and liberty. They both look similar and all other roms have the same issues making them unfit to be my daily driver as much as I want them to be.

Again, not development.
Please use the correct subforum.
hello to all of you buddies...
i am opening this thread so as to make easy for everyone to get views about various roms available for nexus 7...i think it will also decrease the counts of threads asking "which is the best rom?"
pls also post the model (3g or wifi only) so as to avoid confusion with the post...
anybody fell free to post your views about kernels also...
I use Rasbeanjelly with Motleys modified kernel for kexec, so I can multiboot with ubuntu.

Not rooting a nexus device is like owning a Bugatti Veron and not using the the key to unlock the performance mode lol. Just joshing you a little. It does do well stock I must say.
Right now I am cm10.1 but sure I will be a flashaholic like I am with my bolt. Lots of ROMs and kernels to choose from. I am like a kid in a candy store

Paranoid android 2.99 on my Nexus 7 wifi - I use it over stock because of the hybrid ui options and control over dpi on an app by app basis. Other stuff I like is 'fullscreen' mode option on the power button pop up thing.

I know it, but I bought it when my laptop was out of commission due to HDD failure and by the time I got my HDD and realized I needed recovery discs and finally got it going again I didn't want to unlock my boot loader and lose all my game progress. So as long as I'm satisfied with stock I'll use my g'nex for flashing purposes

Just like a 'best ROM' thread, this is thread useless. You can easily see what ROMs are the most popular by looking at their threads in the Dev section and seeing the level of activity. Knowing that still doesn't tell you what ROM is best for you. Only you can decide that based on your own needs and usage.
Sorry folks.,
One of the big no-no's is asking which rom is best.
This, can only be answered by installing several roms, and deciding which is best for "You".
One can read the threads, and see which rom has the least issues, and also see what features are best for your needs.
WE can't make that choice for you. If we could, then there would only be "1" rom for all users, based on the highest amount of posts.
In the end, YOU have to decide.
Thread closed, in an effort to prevent flaming.

I would like to start developing roms and apps. How do I get started? I have experience coding in Java and C but I assume Linux is much tougher. Can anyone hook me up with the resources I need? Tutorials? Tips?

I'm also just new into this and it's really usefull.
Happy to see more people trying to get into developing, especially when it's for the vivid
