I'm on Cynogen ROM + 2.2 Froyo & enjoying the learning curve of the android. Its a pretty interesting phone. But have some quirks. IS there ANY way to disable the vibration fully? (I need it only when the phone is in silent-mode). For the dailler, the vibrate on soft keys is annoying. I've already turned off Haptic keyboard and "vibrate" set to NEVER ,but still happens. I saw a couple of threads but that did not helpme.
In sound settings, scroll to the bottom and turn off haptic feedback. If you did and you still have it, try a wipe.

I have had my Diamond for about 5 days now. The other day I noticed it will get stuck in a constant weak vibrate. It seems that a vibe event will cause it to start, like the phone doesn't know to stop vibrating.
I call it weak, because while it is doing this, I can go to volume settings, select Vibrate and the much stronger vibrate even occurs. It seems if I shake the phone or move it around a bit the weak vibrating will stop.
Also shaking the phone sometimes causes this weak vibrating to begin.
Sounds like a mechanical issue ? I have installed some apps like GSen & SensorLock. A couple others like Advanced Config and done some of the registry tweaks.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Un install sensor lock and test. i had this issue with an old version ofthat application.
I have uninstalled both GSen (Since it wouldn't rotate SMS for me on Sprint Diamond) and Sensor Lock. The device is still doing this strange vibrate.
I noticed even when I hold the power button and turn it off (soft reboot?) it continues the odd vibrate. The vibrate will however stop when I remove the battery.
Just giving an update. The phone has stopped doing this strange vibrate action. Not sure if it was related to the program un-installation or not. As stated above it continued to do the vibrating action after the program was uninstalled, but definitely less frequently.
I had something very similar the other day. I'm using the swift ROM.
Its never happened before, and i've been using this same rom a for a while now.
ya i have the sprint diamond and mine did that the one time when i took it off the charger. it would vibrate pulses and the phone was like frozen. So i plugged it back in the charger and uninstalled sensorlock and its fine now

Somewhat off topic but did you find anything that rotates in SMS on the Sprint Diamond?
Don't blame it on Sensor Lock. I don't have that program installed & mine started vibrating non stop the other day. I couldn't get it to stop & finally did a hard reset. It still continued to vibrate all the way to the point where it got to the green Windows Mobile screen. It stopped, after that & it hasn't happened again since (this was on Saturday). I had done some of the reg tweaks for TF3D performance & nothing else.
sensor lock was the only program i had installed so it was the reason for me. as far as i know only way to rotate SMS with sprint diamond is the long press key
I have also done some of the reg key tweaks on my diamond. It did happen again last night, but before that it's been a few days. I had GSen installed, and it wasn't rotating on SMS, I think I read it wouldn't work with the Sprint Diamond.
What is the long key press method?
Hi folks,
I swear I had this solved once but after a factory reset I can't find a way to do it again:
Settings > Sound > Feedback > Haptic feedback disabled
In fact everything under Feedback is disabled.
Yet when on the home screen I long press an icon in order to move it or delete it a feedback vibration occurs.
Is there another setting for this?
Cheers,
Daniel
Hi
under feedback tab uncheck all the 4 boxes and note you're not in silent mode(vibrating)
then check the issue and report the result.
Goodluck
Thanks a lot,
that's exactly what I did.
Please see attachment.
For some weird reason the vibrating
still happens for long screen touches
(but not for anything else).
In other words, is there a way to completely shut the phone up vibration-wise?
Am not sure about TouchWizz but I think other launchers have the option to disable the long press feedback..sorry can't remember for sure as I've been running ICS for quite some time

Try downloading "Spare parts" app from Google Play and disabling "Haptic feeback" from it...worked for me.
In Settings >> Sound , you've got "Vibration intensity". Pull all sliders all the way to the left and this will get rid of all vibrations (well at least I didn't notice any since I changed that).
I am not sure if it disables the "battery charged" vibration though, and don't want to risk being woken up at night to check
I really like this phone but there are a couple things that bother me:
1. On iOS, you can set it so that you slide to unlock then enter your passcode. If you hit the sleep/wake button and then hit it again, you slide to unlock but you don't have to put your passcode in for whatever amount of time you set it for (ex: 15 minutes). On Android, you just enter your passcode/pattern and then you can either have it just open without a lock screen for 15 minutes or you have to enter your pattern every time. I had it set to the former, but it kept turning on in my pocket, so I had to set it for the latter. This is really annoying, however, and I'm wondering if there is a way to make it work like iOS (perhaps a lock screen replacement, although I'd much prefer it to look stock and have support for widgets (ie, DashClock).
2. The first Moto X I had had really nice feeling haptic feedback (rumble when you type, etc.). I got it replaced and this new one has terrible haptic feedback. It just feels bad and makes me cringe every time I feel it. Is there a way to alter the haptic feedback? Some root app perhaps? I'd rather not return it again.
Thanks.
If you're only looking to alter the haptic feedback for the keyboard you can go into settings, language and input, click the settings on Google keyboard, scroll to the bottom and click advanced settings, and there should be an option the adjust the vibration duration. I'm not for sure if this is exactly what your looking for our not.

There should also be a setting in security that says 'power button instantly locks' toggle this. I see what you mean. You want the slide to unlock when you dont have to put in the pin. AFIK there is no solution. Others probably know more than I do about this.
Also it turning on in your pocket is a problem not just because of this but it will hurt your battery life. It is probably coming on because you have the shake to turn on the camera. If you turn that off it will probably make it stop.

It's not the shake for camera, because it never shows the camera when I take it out and the screen is on. Even with the security on, I caught it trying to make an emergency call, which indicates that the button is being pressed and then the screen is accepting presses.
Thanks for the haptic feedback tip. I tried it, but it made it incredibly loud, so that's a no go.
I noticed the vibration just stops working, no matter if it's haptic feedback or a notification. After a while, it starts working again. Reboot doesn't always help.
"But... sometimes I can type one, maybe two words and it disappears, sometimes I can write long e-mail and it works fine. If haptic vibration disappears it comes back after 1 - 2 minutes with screen off. Really strange. Just checked it again. It turned vibrations off when I started to type very fast.
I did "Diagnostics / vibrations" test before trying to reproduce this error. Vibrations were working fine. After haptic feedback disappeared vibrations in diagnostics stopped working too. Left the phone with screen off for two minutes. Vibration came back.
What's more funny. Sometimes haptic disappears and few words later it starts working again."

I'm on a rooted stock 1.534 firmware with locked bootloader.

mine is not strong enough when receiving notifications
Mine working just fine but I will reccomend few things:
Check in Settings > Sound if everything in selected, Vibrate on Touch, Vibrate when Ringing..
Turn-off the vibration on touch, it consume battery. Select only sound on touch and Set-up vibration only for Alarms and Notifications.
Sometime the feeling of the vibration can be confused, with long press will be vibrate more and vice-versa.
It's your choice.
I have this problem to please someone fix I'm on rooted 257 locked bootloader
Really annoying always late replying to messages I receive because the phone just does not vibrate most of the time..

sorry guys to revive this thread, but I am facing this problem too... someone that had this problem found a fix? or the only way is send it to sony?
Got the same ****
I have this problem too!
I'm in the same boat with mine. Considering sending it in for repairs under warranty.
Has anyone done this? Any success?
I've updated to KK and haptic feedback does not work. Haptic feedback is checked, vibration intensity for haptic feedback is all the way up, and power saving is NOT on. I left the battery out for 10 minutes and put it back in. Nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.
Have you tried a factory reset? If that doesn't work, take it back to AT&T and exchange it.
Make sure you dont have turned off under your keyboard settings. You can have it ON in system settings but the keyboard settings will override that if you turn it off. I'm using Swiftkey and thats the case. Not sure about the stock keyboard if thats what you are using.
N/A - See next post.
I might as well give an answer to what I did to fix this. The phone wouldn't vibrate when I was called either. I ordered a vibrator motor that came with a plastic pry tool and I replaced the motor myself. It was really easy. Total cost was $12.00 including shipping. Now I'm a happy camper.
