So after all that this community has given me, I figured I'd give a little back. I originally planned to release a ROM, but after numerous failed attempts at a good kernel and 2 bricked phones, I figured it was safer to play in Photoshop.
This was planned to be in the aforementioned ROM, but instead I'll just release it as a metamorph for everyone to enjoy. As stated, it is for Sense-based ROMs. I built it with the framework from xtrROM 3.03, but it's been tested on Evil Eris as well as a couple others.
Right now, it's pretty basic. Just the status bar and related icons and a couple checkboxes are finished. I'm working on everything else as I have time, but work is pretty busy and the girl and her devil children keep me tied up (not literally) at home.
Basically, I didn't want a white bar, and the black bar is wearing on me, so I went in-between. I'm not a fan of the super-flashy icons, so I kept it simple. The background is a nice brushed metal look and the icons, although tiny, are black and red marble. I considered blue, but I think there's already 216 blue themes floating around. I'm not so sure about the battery icon, but I've changed it 6 times and settled on this one. Feedback is welcome.

I know that the pulldown bar and the "Verizon Wireless" area are 2 pixels too short. Stupid .9 files. I'll fix that later. Also, I'd like the status bar text to be black, which I know how to do with hex editing, but if someone has a quick and dirty method, let me know!

Great work! Im on xtrROM 3.0.3 and i have been looking to theme it. My first try was with a kevlar and needless to say it did not go so well. 2/3 of the theme worked.... Once you refine this one a bit more and work on the icons some more, i will definitely try it. I know the blue has been done to death, but a cobalt blue would be cool.

i'm currently using kevlar, more like a mixture of the various versions of kevlar mash and and some elements of froyo kevlar, and a modification of another theme. (it sounds messy doesn't it? =P) some of the stuff doesn't apply, or i haven't figured out what the file needs to be named, or found the file itself, so some some of the stock htc status bar icons still show up with the stock status bar background in the box around it. makes the status bar look a little funny/incoherant sometimes.
as for the blue.....
BLUE IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! j/k. a touch here an there doesn't hurt. just don't go overboard, and its pleasant. but it's your theme, do whatever you want with it. even if you make it neon green (please don't....)

Yeah, the framework for the status bar doesn't change much between HTC and AOSP/Cyanogen in 2.1. This part of it should work ok.
I will most likely make a non-sense version as well in that spare time that I don't really have. I flashed it over a Froyo ROM earlier just to see and most of it took, but some of the status bar stuff still shows up with a black background which annoys me greatly.
I thought all the black icons was odd, that explains it.

Installed on my phone. Looks great. Definitely gonna keep this for a while. I like the animated charge icon in the battery meter. I'm gonna have to change other aspects of my phone to match the notification bar but thats easy. If this is your first ever theme, you did a awesome job. Keep up the outstanding work.
If I can make one suggestion for your post of the theme. That is to put the "disclaimer" up about not being responsible if it bricks your phone and whatnot. Common sense says that any modifications can damage the device but sometimes there can be lack of it.

I am currently running xtrSense4.0.6.1 and really need to give Zach.xtr his props for that rom, but I have been searching for 2 weeks for a MetaMorph theme or add on for my Droid Eris and have not been very successful. This Dark Metal theme is very simple and the color scheme is Verizon all the way. I really like the pull down notification w/frosted glass look with the Verizon Wireless in burgundy Marble at the top. CLASSY! I too would like the letters to be in black so I await an update as for any other additions my suggestion is to keep it as simple as possible. I do not like when a theme takes over completely as I feel HTC knew what they were doing originally at least aesthetically. I also have the Fresh Espresso Launcher and love that your theme is not overpowering to this look.

After doing a quick port of my flat icons theme for MDPI devices, I've now given HDPI devices a treat.
Big thanks to the CyanogenMod team for making the framework so similar between these devices and unlocking sooo much potential.
This theme should hopefully work for Nexus One, Desire and Droid, however I can't test them all so I need help from this great community.
As I only have a Desire, please understand that I am not responsible for any damage to your device.
That being said, I've only edited the framework, so as long as you can boot into recovery and have a theme you know works, you should be fine to fix any bootloops which may occur.
These are only made to work on CyanogenMod devices, and only CM6.1.0 RC 1 (RC2 for the droid) and to work properly require metamorph to be installed.
Anyways...now thats out of the way....here are some pics;

There is already a beta port of this theme in this very forum for MDPI devices. The lockscreen isn't included yet, but that's why it is a beta. So in short, yes it is hopefully coming.

After further testing I have found that the "base theme" causes a force close on Cyanogen Settings > User Interface and another one. No easy way to revert so I had to reflash CM6.1.0RC1.

Seems to work on my evo. I flashed the zip for the google nexus 1 and applied the grey metamorph. Is the grey supposed to have a gradient? It's flat on my evo. I've got a triangle on my notification bar to the left of the 3g icon.
edit: I rebooted and got the gradient, but I still have the triangle, and I'm not roaming.

Interesting...I'm wondering if it's something to do with 4G. I think all icons are give a number, and when that number is called upon it shows the icon. Having 4G support might mean the icon numbers are out of sync.
I'll do a build of the EVO and post later here for you to check.

Yeah, I'll try to make as many versions as I can, but I'd like to release the normal black version, then get onto doing the apps before I deviate from the original.

I didnt see he edited it, my bad. I put together the accurate battery icons real quick so they could look like crap lol. Its pretty boring putting 100 numbers over the icon. I dunno how themers have the patience to put all themes together.

This theme is fantastic! Really digging the clean simplicity of it!
I think it would be nice if in future releases you could match the volume and download bar color with the blue/teal that appears in the rest of the theme.
After seeing the accurate battery in the screenshots, Im not a fan of it. Im gonna have another go at it. Hopefully they come out looking better this time lol.

I'd say if you wanted to make the numbers more closely match the style of the battery icon, use a font that's less like Minimal Incognito and more like an old digital camera.
i really like this. could you make it all black, white and grey? like when selecting options, say on display time out...could you make the "dot" black? and on the dialer, could you make the voicemail and sms buttons grey?

I find that a lot of people will use themes and not comment in many cases unless there is an issue or they have suggestions....a lot of the time with certain themes ill do I think no one uses it and then in irc ill get a bunch of pms or requests to re port this or that when I thought there was no interest

For the record, I was using this for a while and think it's very cool (I only switched because my all time favorite became available again--Black AOSP). Anyway, thanks for keeping it around and up-to-date.

You will want to keep an eye out for the Minimalist theme then.
I was in love with the ENV 4tab lockscreen.
I have since moved on to CM7 (love it) but was missing the slim oultime style of lockscreen.
So, over the past few days I did a lot of experimenting, and I modified the morph from bizdaddy (donate here).
Took me a while to get to the bottom of it, and via UOT Kitchen I made the images and them manually replaced them throughout the zip... Nothing special here, just a style that I like a lot and I thought I would share it.
I am using the 2 tab in the screen, but the 4 tab works like a charm. and I did a rotary outline as well... Colors change when you use the various tabs. I like the way it turned out, thought I could finally contribute...
EDIT - I suck at this. My first attempt appears to me to be the same. I arrived at the blue and red versions the same way, but they do not work for me. I do not want people to DL them - they do not work.
I have to say, I don't really understand how the files I used as templates work, but they do (see link above), so I figured if I was able to get teh images I wanted to use and replace what was there - same name, same sizes - then the morph should work as it did originally. The first one did. None of the subsequent ones have - and I am inclined to think that the first was a fluke. I have been over them again and again and cannot figure it out. So I must admit defeat and apologize.
If you guys want to use the images, feel free. Please do not try to use them via metamorph.
Purple - ONLY DL if you want to mess around - the images are there at least... - worked for me
Red - ONLY DL if you want to mess around - the images are there at least...

I have a fully themed out red remix rom, but im missing that essential red lockscreen element... would you be able to do that? (with #FFFF0000)

EDIT! Give me a few hours to fix the new ones. I used the wrong .apk to compile at UOT Kitchen...
EDIT 2 - still working on it... the problem I ran into was using the wrong apk from the CM7 Rom to compile on UOT (you can use 1 of 2 and only 1, cyanbread.apk seems to do the job correctly). I tested the blue, it did not update my lockscreen, so I tried again. Brick. Stuck at the Glitch logo... So I went back through my notes (I keep copious notes when I am teaching myself) and realized the mistake. I got the morphs re-built last night, but I had to opdin my phone back and I want to fully test these prior to you guys using them, so I just ran short on time. I should be to the bottom of it before too long... Sorry for the delay gents.
OP Updated - Red and Blue are done. I am switching to Blue - I love it.
Are there any other themes out there for CM7? I had the Alien4.1 for COMROM and would love to get that for CM7, it was really tight!!!!!
There are a lot out there. Google cm7 themes... Most of them out there are for the theme chooser so they will be an apk that you download and install as you would any other app, them they will be available in the theme chooser. Many of them are in the market as well. Many are free, many cost a buck or so.
That is where this lockscreen and others like it out there come in. As I understand it, the theme engine cannot currently adjust some things, lockscreen included.
All I have done here it's to go to the theme kitchen online, choose my style, upload the file from the cm7 rom cyanbread.apk for the theme kitchen to compile and dl the results. Once done, I extract the resulta to local folders, and adjust the files in an already built lockscreen morph to have my files in there.
I am just hesitant to try my corrections st the moment, as I have a big weekend coming up with way too much going on to not have the phone... I am gun shy after I made the mistake and compiled with androidian.apk and got a soft brick.
It's no big deal, but out takes time to rebuild...
