I have a rooted stock Froyo on my N1.
1. Is there a tool or zip file (that I can flash using Rom Manager) that would allow App2SD for all the apps on Froyo?
2. Is there a way to get H or 3G instead of always 3G, while being rooted on stock?
Thanx in advance
1. Install Mod Install Location from the market.
2. Not that I'm aware, but I could be wrong.
Thanx for the quick reply
Anyone for question 2?
No, system framework needs to be modified for that - which means the ROM has to be deodexed and framework needs to be recompiled - which means it's turning into a custom ROM.
Right but that's still "stock" to most people. Check the ROM forum, there is stock froyo ROM that is also deodexed which means it can be themed with the H icon. It's definitely possible.
Thanx for the replies. Will check it out.
If you install CM6 RC-3 you can set it to force install to SD and it already has the "H" symbol
^ yea, I'm thinking to go that route since CM has those 2 features plus minimal music controls on lockscreen as well as battery %. All are features I'm interested in, so rather than trying to patch the stock to my liking, I might just get CM and remove ADW and get LP instead
I am new to rooting and have Cyanogen RC3 on my N1 and love it! All the customizations are endless. Especially all the Apps2SD.

Hey guys so ive got one of the Rogers dream phones,.I was wondering if it is possible to flash one of the themes (meteamorph)? The reason I ask is that these phones are EBI1 not EBI0 like the tmobile ones.
Being ebi1 makes it so that not everything is compatible, an example of this is the cyanogen rom, it is not compatible with out a special kernel for our phones.
Once again, are the metamorphosis themes compatible with our ebi1 phones?
I am in the exact same boat lol my provider is fido and I use the latest cyanogen on my rooted ebi1 rogers dream I jus thought that this was a funny coincidence oh and obviously I'm in canada ps . I reall would like it if brian the god who makes our cyanogen port files, ported the 10mb ram hack
Themes are all good. I've used the ones from the cm updater with no issues. I also tried some meteamorphs a while ago with no issues. I think there is an issue with meteamorph on the latest cyanogen thoe. not 100% sure
To the first poster, yeah that would be great because we can't get dwangs fast rom on ebi1. Do you know if anyone has asked him to port it?

Where can I get cm updater from? I didn't find it on the market. And am I correct in thinking that the cm updater does more than just update cyanogen roms?
EDIT ive found it and see that it can update the cm aswell as use themes. I still need an answer to my post after this one.
I am wondering if it is safe to use cm updater to update our phones because we require the special kernal to use cm. Do we need to apply a kernal everytime, does it do it for us, or do we do it ourselves. (This is regarding updating the cm itself not the theme)
Hey guys, so I am still waiting for a response regarding my above post but in addition I would like to say that I now have a theme using cm updater. I downloased the first one in the recommened list. I was wondering what the difference between advance and regular launcher. There where two options for this theme one with regular other with advanced. I chose regular because I don't know what a lanucher is.
i have heard that people have asked him but he hasnet responded with a definitive answer

You just need to add the bcrook Kernel as a theme. Follow the directions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592377
To Update:
1. Themes > Menu > Check Now
2. Select the newest bc-ebi1 file from the theme section
3. Click on it and download it, choose Apply Later when finished.
4. Download the newest Cyanogen ROM from the ROM section. Choose Apply Now.
This will reboot to recovery and flash the newest cyanogenmod. Then apply the previously downloaded port file.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the link andanswer, that will come in handy.
Another question I have is what's the difference between advanced and regular launcher?
You can look at the thread for advanced laucher and see the differences. Folders, change the number of home screens and more.
hmm i have a rogers dream and ive never had problems with themes, cm updater or anything. also ive never had to install any "special" kernel for any rom ive put on my phone.
im pretty sure i used the "rogers one touch root" guide in the dev forum when i originally rooted my phone.
is there a difference between the old and new rogers dreams? or are all this ebi1??
I use the enoch theme and it works great and looks even better. I think that most roms don't touch the kernel so they should be fine.

There is a difference but it isn't with the radio (ebi1 vs ebi0) its with the spl. It just requires the one click root to get around. You must have used haykuro's method to root which switches your radio to EBI0 making it compatible with any rom for the G1.

ahh makes sense, i used haykuro's method. thanks for the clarification.
hey i am using the binary something theme. When on the old Cyanogen rom it had the same theme but with the lockscreen, when updating to the latest CM rom i dont see the lock screen version anymore. (i am using CM updater)
Ok so I am now using the enoch theme, I like the blue accent and the transparent design to show more background. One thing that I miss is the lock screen, CM updater doesn't show any option for installing a enoch lockscreen. Is there any way to get a lockscreen? Also can I use any lockscreen even if it is not enoch? (Cm updater shows no lockscreens anyway)
Does the latest CM rom 12.2 not support any lockscreens yet? Or do I just need to add more sorces for themes in cm updater? If so could someone guide me into doing that.
could someone please answer as to can I use any lockscreen? and how can i get this done with cm updater?
I have a rooted Nexus One 2.2 and I really wanted to keep my stock ROM (there are always issues with cooked ROMs regardless of how well they are prepared) but I also want to be able to morph/mod my device a bit.
As you may tell I'm a bit of a noob so I'm just wondering if this is possible without flashing a custom ROM?
What would you like to change?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You say that regarding cooked roms, but the same can be said with any of the "mods" you want to use. Everyone is different, even you stock rom may not be immune to "stock" or the most basic mods. But I get what you are talking about.
You can use setcpu to oc your processor. There are a bunch of metamorphs you can use to customize your phone as well. They even have a circle battery mod that you can use WITHOUT being rooted. Only thing is, that mod does not overwrite or replace anything. It's an addition to he existing features.
Not to say all mods are worthless, being a CM6 user for a while and then going through eVil D's sense files and now Rod's MIUI files are welcome additions to people like me who like a lil spice in their daily flashes lol.

Circle Battery in Notification Bar
Notification bar colour change
etc
If your looking for aesthetics then I'd suggest using a launcher like adw or launcher pro... And you can only underclock without a different kernel.

Simple to do. I use the stock FRG83 ROM myself with these exact changes. First thing you need to do is get a deodexed version of the ROM. I use the one found here by Geo411m: Completely Stock Deodexed with busybox
I then went out and found all the images that I liked from various other ROMs and themes and made my own update zip file using Geo411m's FRG83 Blackbar Add-on v1.2 addon as the base.
Just take a day or so and learn how the themes work and that the framework-res.apk file can be modified using winrar or winzip and then you should be on your way.
So what I have done to date on my Captivate.
1. Updated to latest Froyo 2.2 using Kies
2. Loaded .NET and etc
3. Rooted using SuperOneClick. Thanks ShortFuse
4. Titanium Backup. Thanks Joel
5. Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. Thanks Android Central
6. Captivate Toolbox. Thanks Bay_wolf
7. Installed wireless tether 2.0.7 Thanks harald.mue, ulfada
8 Pimped my Captivate- Thanks systoxity, nbs11, and other XDA developers.
Now I'm to the point to ROM or not to ROM. Everything is working great. Further I am hesitant about the possibility of bricking my phone. Should I go for it? What ROM to use? What program to get ROM on phone?
Many thanks in advance.

It really just comes down to if you like your Captivate the way it is. If you aren't happy with the performance you get from it then try a few out. I recommend Cognition for a stock like experience and Serendipity for the most stable and kept up to date ROM.
This really doesn't belong in this section. It should have been posted in the General or the Q&A sections.
Well what you have done in all those steps, other then Titbu is actually done in one step by flashing a rom.
If you pay attention to the steps your risk of bricking is minimal. Just read all the rom threads and see which one floats your boat. Cognition 4.1.1 is a very stable rom. Firefly is another stable rom. You might like Fusion also as that and Cog are based off the curren kcb1 release from att.
You will need odin 1 click to return to stock. You will have to download Rom Manager and install Clockwork recovery. That puts an update.zip on your phone that boots you into recovery mode so you can flash a rom. Once you put clockwork on the phone its best to copy the udate.zip to your comp or to an ext sd card so you can just move it over after you flash back to stock when you updated roms.
First and foremost is read as much as you can before doing anything.
Thanks for the brief input. It was not my intent to post in the wrong forum. I'll repost in the Q/A.
Pm a mod and have them move it instead of double posting.

The answer is Yes.
like they said above you could have done by flashing but you would still need root and rom manager first which if you already have 2.2 means flashing a kernel via .tar which used to mean odin but now we have neldars app. so it's not really one step, even on 2.1 noone is doing signed .zips that run in 2e recovery so you still need to root and install cwmrecovery.
basically roms have some nice features like getting rid of tw mms which many versions of have bugs and timing errors that can cause double messages or incorrect order of messages or in some cases messages to the wrong contact, if you dont have that issue now flashing a rom with tw mms may cause it or it may not. aosp mms is safer but only works with samsung lockscreens on some roms, watch for that if you like the puzzle piece functionality. but there may be many enhancements like removed bloat(unless you like the samsung bloatware) minfree tweeks, mobile ap which may be more stable than using an app for wifi hotspot, plus random shortcuts ect.ect. many of these things you can do but some are features of the base rom and require flashing, 2.2.1 baseroms are smoth as butter, especially the ones from china and 2.2.1 kernels will make the phone benchmark better.
then there is kernels which you can flash now without the rom, kernels can make the phone feel smoother and the screen brighter and better colors and add volume to the headphone amp which i dont recommend because mine clips at anything above the stock setting. also there is undervolt and overclock ect... i would recomend maybe a speedmod kernel or glitterballs work, some galaxy s phones can not exceed 1.2 ghz i dont know of anyone that cant overclock but for me 1.2 is 100% stable 1.28 is 90% stable 1.3 is about the same maybe a bit more stable and 1.4 is about 30% stable i can do it but need to be really carefull about what's running and for how long, not really usable. kernels other than glitterballs mat cause your phone to die while charging but i here the sucker punch kernel has a lower occurrence of that than past kernels. speed mod is not overclock and is safe and makes a big difference!
then there is modem.bins and gps. the two are related. if you have good gps now flashing a modem.bin can make that go away and vise/versa there isn't any rules as to what works/doesn't because every phone is different. but other than gps you need to match a captivate rom to a captivate modem. this is because on north american captivate roms changing the modem and kernel to a non captivate version will disable bluetooth calling.
then there is hsupa, it's a bit over rated in a good service area, my isp gives me about the upload bandwith at home that i get without hsupa, my home internet is fine for browsing but im not hosting any files. on the otherhand it may help in lower service areas somewhat or if you tether multiple devices. to enable huspa you need a non north american captivate rom and kernel and modem.bin, you need to decide if that is important and at a slight risk of losing some gps performance as it is so inconsistent it is hard to tell what may or may not work for you.

im looking for a superclean froyo rom.. stock froyo debinged debloated zipaligned deodexed..
these are easy to find on fascinate forums. but im having difficulty finding them in your forums as there are so many custom roms..
mods please stop closing my threads. this is a valid question. i have a rom chart from my last thread (closed) but they all look like custom roms to me.
what is your stock froyo rom called? ex ours in fascinate are called things like (eb01)
KB1
But you probably won't find anyone with a debloated zipaligned deoxeded version, it's still crap without all the fixes from the custom roms.
Cognition 4.x was close to stock Froyo, but it has since gone custom crazy. Andromeda 1.2 is based on a stock Captivate ROM for the Armani version and while it has some nice tweaks, it is still pretty close in appearance and function to stock, but without all the bloat.

It was a limited version of the Captivate designed for Georgio Armani. Electronically, it is the same as our Captivate in every way. Software-wise, it has a customized version of Froyo with some Armani touches like the bootscreen and system font. Andromeda simply removes the carrier bloat and adds performance enhancements like Voodoo lagfix, working GPS and some other nice touches. It runs flawlessly on my Captivate.
For lite and quick, I've always relied on Andromeda or Paragon RC6.
As for just a stock 2.2 without the bloatware, I've never actually seen any.

Ok just to try something, I flashed the zip PG posted. Everything went smooth. The only extra thing I had to do was use super one click to enable non market apps.
One tip I learned: if you use ti backup to remove unwanted apps before resorting, you will save yourself a lot of extra scrolling!
Btw, I am now running at&t 2.2 rooted, sideloading enabled, CWM, voodoo lagfix, matted blue theamed, plumb bob gps fixed, with 6 unlock screens, extended power menu, H (hsdpa) icon, and blackout gingerbread live wallpaper.
Scored 1576 in quadrant.

I think I an explaining this correctly, enabling sideloading allows you to install apps from sources other than the market. Ie: you can DL an apk right to your phone and install it.

Hi,
my friend bought this phone and wants me to "fix it up" for him. I am completelly unfamiliar with this phone and Samsung in general, so I need a little help.
I have scoured these forums for the last hour and there is TONS of information available. It's really difficult to judge which posts are outdated and which are still working.
Basically what I want is this:
1. Root the phone
2. Install CWM
2. Install latest CM7 for this phone.
I reckon the root works with using SuperOneClick, correct? And for CWM I thought I'm gonna use this?
But I am at a complete loss when it comes to which CM7 to choose, there are tons of them? Can someone recommend me a fresh, stable, debloated and fast CM7 ROM with everything working?
Thanks.
I managed to get root and clockwork mod up and running.
Any ideas for which Rom?

1) For rooting, refer to this thread - http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-popmini.html
It does not matter if it outdated - all you have to do is go to superuser app, and choose update binaries. You will get latest version.
2) For now, i personally don't feel you should use CWM 6. the version i am using (CWM 5) has no bugs and works perfectly. here is the link -
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2012/02/clockwork-mod-touch-for-galaxy-mini-gt.html
3) As for ROMs, there is a large collection out there. It all depends on your choice. For example, if you want:
A stock based ROM choose something like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861240
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576996
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074556 (which is CM10.1 - Jellybean)
Or another CM10.1 ROM which works very well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227481
Or maybe another interesting ROM which im sure you will like, which has interesting tweaks like android version - 5.0.0.5 (lol)
Cyanogen mod 7 music edition - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329551&highlight=emanon
Or the experience ROM by autoradio, which allow a lot of customization - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2193327
This is another really good ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754694
PS the question "best ROM" is always being asked and is then subsequently closed by a mod, so read the rules next time
Another thing you should know is NEVER use an app called ROM manger. it will brick your phone.
I supposs this cover everything
Press thanks if i helped
