[Q] Anyone heard of an app like this? - G1 Apps and Games

I was wondering if anyone has heard of an app that can select ringtones for contacts in your contact list and have another ringtone for calls not in your contact list? I know programs that I can select ringtones for each contact but not everyone in my contacts list gets their own ringtone so I was looking for a program that will give me the option to have a different ringtone for calls from people not in my contacts. Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Select a default ringtone and then assign a different ringtone to all the callers who are in your contacts, then the default ringtone will ring for anyone not in your contacts. The OS itself can do this. You don't need a separate app.

i dont think he wants to go through his contacts one by one to do this. i have over 200 contacts in my phone and going through each one would be a ball ache. to create one tone and use it for all contacts with a simple setup is what he is after.

You can email this dev to add ring tone mod to their app.
Market > call filter by telemarks.co.jp
open app
select control specified numbers
press call filters
press menu > add list
select input = numbers not in contacts
press the [numbers not in contacts] in the filter list to select action > silent mode
now if your device is setup to vibrate during incoming call, it should just vibrate when a call comes in that is not in your contact list.

random sms tone sound

i have a need.. i have found that .wav files played as text message sounds.. are incredibly small. and i found a program that contained 6000+ noises..
so on my raphael, it would be convienent if i could find a program that will point the sound of any incoming text to a random .wav in a folder on my phone. or to a random.wav that is changed before the sound in played.
does anyone have any suggestions?
You can try the following app. this app allows you to assign sms wav tone to individual contacts. its pretty neat.
Here is a description of that file above...
http://oldsap.blogspot.com/2008/07/oist-v12.html
Individual SMS Tones for each contact...and More!
- New Core (probably will work even when using other sms related applications)
- set and play individual sms tones for each contact
- unread sms and missed calls reminder alarm
- forward incoming/outgoing sms, including sender and body of the message to a specific number
- send incoming/outgoing call details including number called, call start/end time to a specific number
- remote control. send a text message to the phone using a specific password to retrieve a contact's information
Note: for the sms forwading of sent sms items, when using the default tmail.exe, it will work fine, i tried it with Vito SMS-Chat but it doesn't work (i'll try to fix this)
v1.4 update (7/21/08)
- alarm scheduler: Play sound(wav or mp3), and show a message box
- no more tray icon on today screen
- Remote Control Feature: retrieve unread sms
known bug:
- sometimes the incoming sms tone plays twice
- vibrate option for alarm scheduler not yet working
v1.3 update (7/14/08)
- play sound when sms is sent
- vibrate option for reminder
- sms scheduler (timed sms sending)
Menu Items:
Tones - set default/unknown number/reminder tones
Settings
Play Sent Tone - turn on/off the sent sms tone
Receiver - set the specific number for the sms and call details forwarding
Password - set the password needed for contact details retrieval
Test Vibrate - check if the Led number indicated is correct of the device
SMS Scheduler - create/edit/delete timed sms sending
Set Oist - set individual sms tones for each contact
yes, i saw that

i googled heavily before posting a question here in the forum. the goal is to have a sound that is different each time, no matter who has sent the text message.
geez..
401 people have read this thread, nobody knows nothing. who do you ask to fabricate you just such a .cab? do they have a paypal button?
I dont have a solution yet... but im thinking of using Mort Script to change the reg key after a sms event. I just dont have the time now.
This is what i would program.
1. Insert command to execute the program on a SMS event in the notification queue, then exit.
2. After a SMS event, Change the sms Reg key value to a random .wav in some directory
3. Insert command in notification queue again then exit.
have a play with mort script samples and you will see how possible it can be.
Ringtone stops when Voice command speaks
When I get an incoming call, I set voice command to say the number or name of the caller, I just flashed my phone to the Energy Rom Genesis and installed the Voice Command cab..... now when I get an incoming call, the ringtone plays for 2 seconds and once the voice speaks the ringtone doesnt play any more..... is there a reason for this and can it be fixed? Thanks.

Set a ringtone for all numbers not in contacts?

Does anyone know of a straight forward way to set a ringtone for all numbers that are not listed in your contacts?
I am going to try out the free app Call&SMS Filter but it would be good if there was a way to do it without a third party app. All my contacts are from Google so there isn't even an easy way to set a ringtone for all of them as I'd need to setup an empty contact for all of their names, link it and then add the ringtone there.
The only way I can think of is to set ringtone "A" as the global ringtone under settings. Then go into your contact list and then set a custom ringtone for each contact. That way if a contact calls it reverts to the custom ringtone, and if a non contact calls you get standard ringtone "A". If you have a lot of contacts that could take quite a while to do. Thats the only way I can think of doing it, unless there is some app that would do it.

Caller Groups, Selective Ringing

I had a Nokia a long time ago that had caller groups and I had a "VIP" setting that would allow only people selected to ring and txt with an audio report. Everyone else was silent. I would set this ringer profile when I was going to sleep and anyone who I didn't want to wake me couldn't and everyone who I wouldn't mind hearing from could. I want my girlfriend to wake me if she needs anything but I don't want to hear from anyone else
Is there a way to do this on the N1?
Thanks
Ringtone can be selected per person.
Apps like "Contact GroupU" allow to set ringtone over a group, and to modify groups - default Contacts app doesn't have the feature (but it's accessible from Gmail).
You could use something to change your default ringtone to "silent" on demand, and this way your ringtone for VIP persons would remain the only one.

[Q] custom ring tones

So how do I set up custom ring tones on this phone? I see where I can pick the ring tone, but is it possible to have one of my own songs/sound clips, a ring tone?
For default ringtone:
On the home screen press menu>settings>sounds & display> voice call ringtone then pick your tone
For Option 1 for individual ringtones ( only works with contacts saved to phone i think)
go to contacts> pick your contact you want to change> long press until you get a menu> click edit and scroll until you see the ringtone setting
Option 2 (this is what i use because i use google and facebook contacts so i do not get a ringtone option under the edit menu for contacts)
Download ringdroid from the market (it's free). This will let you make custom ringtones from the music you saved on your phone. The music has to be under a certain file size but just play around with it (i use about 15 to 20 sec for a ringtone) Once you save the part of the song you want to play as a ringtone it will ask if you want to assign to a contact and go from there. Once you start making the ringtone i noticed they started showing up under the menu where the default ringtones are. (i'm assuming cause of the file sizes).
For txt message ringtone
click messaging>menu button>settings> and at the bottom of the menu you can pick a default message tone
For notifaction like email or other stuff
from the home screen click menu> settings>sounds and display> and notification ringtone.
hope this helps. i'm new to but i'm pretty sure i got everything right
Ringdroid is the best option. It lists all available music on your device and then you can select one to create a custom ringtone.

Stock ringtones are stored in /system/media/audio/ringtones/
User created ones are stored in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/
you can place your own .mp3's in the latter and when selected, the first 30seconds of the .mp3 will play for your ringtone.
other apps
you can also you zedge from the market, you can download ring tones and wallpapers... i use it some and it seems alright and "mp3 music download" you can use to search for music, seems illegal but i guess they haven't taking it down yet..and mabilo seems good to ...hopefully these are legit since i was using them some lol

Set the ringtone for a certain contact to "none"

Recently I tried to set a custom ringtone to certain contacts to "none" (i.e., when those contacts call me I don't want the phone to play any ringtone). I did this via: contacts - (selected a contact) - edit contact - set ringtone - none - OK. Then saved the changes.
The problem is that this setting does not apply. I then tried changing to any other ringtone specific to a contact and the setting changed properly. So, it seems that only the "none" setting is not working. I am running Android 6.0.1, build MOB30I, stock/non-rooted. Can anyone assist?
Create a silent ringtone in Audacity on your PC, and use that for those contacts you don't want to hear notifications from. It's a workaround, but should do what you want it to do.
