xdandroid vs neopeek: differences? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Android Development

I'm relly interested in Android, but I didn't get the differences between these 2 versions. Pro and contras?

Those are two different bulids. XDAndroid is mainly created for devices listed in my signature, the neopeeks build are ports from cyanogen and other most famous roms out there for Android. For pros and cons. there is no other way you have to try it and see for yourself.

So also in neopeek's builds the speaker doesn't work?

Correct, unfortunately
I prefer Xdandroid on my pure, though battery is still a problem, I find it more stable

Yes, I'm testing XDAndroid and battery drain is unbelievable...
But it is quite stable...

Iv used xdandroid for awhile now and its fairly good, runs smoothly and stably on my htc touch pro2 [overclocked at almost 800mhz and needed] even most 3d games play, although kinda choppily.but bluetooth, camera and fm radio dont work.
I havnt tried neopeeks build as it is harder to setup requiring you to partition your sd card but if i remember rit it has much better fps in 3D rendering. around 21 i tink it was. While xdandroid is just 17.5, which wont bother you unless you will be doing alot of playing 3d games.

Best Sense rom?

Hey all,
I recently had my Dream jtagged/rooted (thanks ezterry!) and have been shopping for roms. I am currently running SuperD which is working great, however I really wanted to give a Sense rom a try. Any suggestions? Nothing too experimental, just something fast and stable enough for daily use. Thanks!
Well JC's hero was the fastest and stable but it ran on 1.5. If you want something 2.1-ish then use King's Droid Eris rom or Vega's Legend both are quite equal in speed and stability(imo). Running the Eris port(don't know why) and find myself frustrated on app load times and battery intake. I would consider not using 2.1 first though, I would actually recommend selling the G1 as not much is going on in the dev section OE is still in 2.0 development and nothing has come out of 2.1 yet that is full and stable/fast. Either you don't have to take my word for it . Have fun with your new-ish G1!
Off note-ish: Lotta people getting their G1 un-bricked eh?
Partitioned SDCard. 128MB at least. VegaMan's Legend ROM V0.9.1 is AMAZING! I can give you a version with LWP and LED's if you want?
^That would be good. Is it better than KiNgxKxlick Legend2G1 and DroidEris2G1?
Sense UI on Donut?
Is there a rom that run Sense that is based on Donut?
^Hey you are using Droid2ErisG1, how is the battery life?

Not too bad, but I don't use my phone much durring the day. Heavy use drains the battery bad.

So if I want Sense I am stuck with 2.1 builds? None are all that fast.
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
no, you can have fast and stable sense on 1.5 roms. none 1.6. and sluggish on 2.1
Wow, thanks for all the tips. Looks like I have some experimenting to do. I'm thinking I'll give Vegaman's Legend a try and if that doesn't work out, wait for a better 2.1 sense build...can't see myself going back to 1.5 just for a few visual trinkets here and there.
@protomanez: mine wasn't exactly bricked...it was the stupid Rogers 911 update...so, about as useful as a brick

Obviously yes, since phones are almost identical (you can even cross-flash firmwares, but you have to be careful about it).
If and when CM6.1 comes out, this board will be a flurry of activity and you will definitely not miss it.
Also it will be stickied at the top of the board

tried to see if what works? all thats been announced is that galaxy s is on the official "supported" list, so no mod for it yet but we will get the mod when they release 6.1

Lifehacker (sister site of Gizmodo) is also reporting that it supports Galaxy S phones.
There is only a start of CM6 for SGS. Check status here:

I am fairly new to Android ..But still heard the buzz about the fantastic cyanogen mods .. I also read that because of copyrights etc .. cyanogen mod do not contain google items ( market, gmail etc) ...Does that mean I can't use any of the googleprograms or can the be ( legaly) downloaded and installed in the rom ?
What makes the cyanogenmod so special that we even want that into our sweet SGS' ??

Although there's been some good answers already, what I'm particularly interested in is that the 6.x releases are all Froyo based which will bring a load of new amazing to the SGS, and depending on the CM release schedule, it may well in fact come to the galaxy BEFORE the official samsung froyo rom.
If that happens, it'll be a major coup for the CM guys, to not only be better than the stock rom, but to be dropping before samsung.
Froyo brings JIT and naitive apps2sd, which is awesome, as well as plenty of other goodies. The reason why the N1 recently jumped almost up to SGS levels on quadrant on 2.2 is because of JIT coding, so expect a pretty impressive jump in performance for us.
Also, there's the possibility that the CM rom will totally drop samsungs crappy slow ass proprietary file system that's caused so much woe for our devices, which translates into no need for lagfixes, and generally improved performance all around.
Thinking of streamlining stuff... No more bloatware, just the services and apps we need, which translates into better memory management, and so better stability and even better performance for multi-tasking.
Finally, no need for GPS fixes. CM should be coming with good, accurate and thoroughly tested gps code.
So yeah... All the joy of Froyo, minus the samsung junk, thats been developed by SGS users for SGS users. Might not see everything perfect in 6.1, but it will sure as hell be a leap forward. *straps myself in*

Judging by the thread over at the CM forums, yes, they've tried - they've also tried hacking it on, with no progress. It's not something you can easily just drop in. If you want the dirty tech details, head over http://www.cyanogenmod.com and check the SGS section of the forums. You'll see which thread.

Android 2.3 on Topaz... Possible or not? YES, CONFIRMED!

Hey guys, you already knew that Gingerbread announced officially yesterday. So what do you think about booting this yummy gingerbread on our hTC Touch Diamond2? Is it even possible?! (before saying that it's bootable or not!)
If it is, when our beloved devs will get started to build us some systems and kernels?

I got the first answer, but what do you think about it's stability? More than current Froyo builds? Or less?! And what do you guess about linux drivers? Could they work properly? (The most important one is 3D driver and after that, camera)

Well, the OS stability depends on the drivers if they are written properly there will be no problems ( like on our pcs, if drivers are not written properly the pc will crash often ). I think they can work properly

Yes... But I don't understand... Topaz Android Port project started since last year and it started with Shadowline. And HD2 Porting started about 4-5 months ago. But HD2 has now a fully functional android and we are facing basic issues!! (still!)
Why HD2 got developed this fast and we are developing slow?

HD2 has a much bigger community + many more developers then us and the 2nd thing is that XDAndroid is developing/porting Android to several devices not only one ( like topaz, blackstone, raphael, rhodium, ... ).
Topaz Android ROM
When the Android porting-project will be a compleated, - all of the RHODIUM's phones will be a very old and non perspective stuff's!
HTC have a special softvare and drivers source codes to make an device! XDA developers not have it! Without 1 million dollars - Topaz Android (pay to developers) not have a chance! ))
Magdac, - wher a you!?
I tried gingerbread 2 days ago. Neopeek build.
Gingerbread Confirmed
Yes, I confirm too... I installed Neopeek build on my Topaz... And my experience:
Well, it's a LOT, I mean it!, A LOT faster than any builds before. But...
It needs a lot of developments and tunings.
What works and what works not:
WiFi=Yes
Sound=Yes
GSM=Yes / CDMA=?
Data=Yes
PPTP VPN=NO!
G-Sensor=No
3D=Not completely... No Textures on NeoCore (But scores 22.1 fps without any gralloc drivers) but Angry Birds runs faster and without problem.
Boot=Faster than FroYo.
Camera=As expected, No!
Bluetooth=No, makes your device reboot.
Power=Not bad, but you'll see battery leaks.
Well, it's really worth to try and don't forget... It's just an Alpha build... JUST ALPHA and it can beat FroYo in this very version! But, we need to wait and see what developers will bring for us... I'm impatiently waiting for 3D and Camera... These two are the most important ones IMAO.
Dear ReWind402 and other devs, Speed up the XDAndroid please! We want NAND flash!!!
When I got my Diamond 2, I practically instantly regret I hadn't wait for the first Android release. A few days ago I bought an Android phone for my day to day usage. Since I just couldn't stand windows anymore!
I'm trying to sell my Diamond 2, but until then, I just can't wait also for the next XDAndroid!
And I'm starting to get dizzy with all Android releases from Google folks!
Feels like we're always waiting on the next big thing and that will never get the full experience!
Anyway... I would rather have full/near to full android on D2 than the sort of crappy and cheaper LG I bought
But... I just had to do it! Man! I do HATE windows mobile!
Where we can download it?
go to....
google "neopeek oops we did it again gingerbread" and boom your there

Scoot CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RLS3 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) [07/08/11]

Scoot CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RLS3
This is a build I have compiled from the official CyanogenMod source files and adapted for Kaiser/Vogue. Feel free to give it a go at your own risk!
Well, it still isn't quite as snappy as Froyo and the camera still doesn't work properly but it's probably about as fast as Gingerbread will get on our devices. I'm bound to have messed a few things up but i'll continue to work on it when I get time
All the usual things are working as far as i know, GPS works fine for me but the camera is as always not fully functional.
All of this is thanks to the guys working on the CyanogenMod roms and of course, none of this would work without all the hard work on the kernel so big thanks to dzo, vilord, l1q1d etc...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RLS 1:
Initial Release
Includes most of the Google Apps including Maps, Gmail etc..
Latest Market is included
RLS2:
Built from the latest 7.0.2 source
Optimised EGL for our devices
Updated Market
LDPI and PNG optimisations to save space & increase speed
ADW Launcher updated
Loads of tweaks and status bar changes
Updated RIL lib
Loads of fixes and optimisations
**I recommend leaving the phone for 5 minutes after installing to sort itself out and cache apps etc...**
RLS3:
I can't really be bothered to list all of the changes, there are quite a few but I just compile the thing, the changes are in the CyanogenMod repository. I have included the updated RIL and all of the Google Apps are up to date. The camera is still ****e but that's a driver issue. This release hasn't been heavily tested as I don't use my Kaiser as a main phone anymore So i'm sure you will find issues in which case we can sort them out as and when. Enjoy!

It is Gingerbread indeed
I can usually overclock up to 520mhz before it starts crashing and randomly shutting down.
Though on a kaiser someone says he has gotten 576 mhz.
On a over clocked build we can get approximately 2.1 mflops.

oo, is it relatively snappy? when i lost my vogue, the android development was in its baby stages so i never really got around to putting it on my device. i put it on my brothers and he loved having it. i would assume it runs froyo and gingerbread even better than it did donut. It seams like googles goal up to this point wast to streamline the os to make it quicker all around.
anyway, its hard to imagine 2 mflops when my evo is doing 36 non overclocked. im sure my phone isnt actually 18x faster than your in real use though.
yeah! I waiting for the first build to hit the shelves here. Will try soon, maybe this weekend.

well not in real world use. easily in raw computing power though. I used donut on my brothers vogue for a little bit and it was definitely faster than winmo.
Of course
Anything would be better than WinMo 6.1
CM 6.1 is insanely fast compared to donut when I tried them out
nice build!
enabling wifi crashes the device (polaris 100) /:
EDIT: After applying update it works!
By things like these is that I loved my HTC Vogue, hurts I had to sell it to complete the money and buy another device that placed in my signature is much more complete that our Vogue in hardware but even so the Vogue deal a place in my heart

What do I do with the vogue SD fix? I tried to search for it, but came up short.
Is the Vogue SD Fix specific to CM or is it for 0.32 kernels?
I thought that Scoots builds would only work with .32 kernels, and that .32 kernels didn't have USB mount for SD. Is the SD Fix fixing something else? I would really like USB mounting (with Win XP). I copy a lot of files over to my Vogue from an XP machine, but would like to use this build, but haven't moved over because I'm on .25 kernel.
Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend using this with the .25 kernel, it's too old. The Vogue SD Fix allows the SD card to mount and enables apps to SD for Vogue. It's because the Kaiser and Vogue differ in this area. As always with the .32 kernel, i have not had success mounting in windows from the phone, linux is fine though.
wow ginger on the vogue. now that's amazing. htc should make another version of this phone but with android on it.

i think they both phones have similar technical data.
i dont understand why cpu is to slow, lenin reds built with sense
run much more faster from sdcard than this nand built ????
btw good work from the DFT Team , thx

sounds promising

AFAIK nand is not faster than sd-method. But it would allow you too get rid off winmo.
actually guys, your phone won't improve that much after NAND. believe me i'm hd2 user and i have used android since first versions based off xdandroid..
as far as speed goes, read/write is actually faster on sdcard!
only andvantage of nand is stability and power consumption, ofcourse after all quirks are polished.
qc's 528 msm's are too slow to run sense well. it can get slow even on 1ghz. wvga is too much to handle, and sense is very ram sensitive! maybe if someone could get it upscaled from hvga, but in that case it would be streched..
i also own both diamonds(I and II) and i would love to see winmo gone. but on good port like leo(feels like native device) we had advantage of few devices with same components built in and much work being already done, and i do not see wvga android with small screen and 528mhz released by htc.
i'm just being realistic here, not mean or anything else.
1 - Topaz is very small mobile phone. I am don't wants to use such big phone like HD2.
2 - Battary life in topaz is more longer
3 - It have smaler screan and that is why it is more clear.

Crappy model to go with. Were still pushing forward with NAND using open source concepts, and RHOD is getting there (just very slowly). I'm hoping each device will have at least one dev that will step up and get the dirty work done to look towards NAND on all devices... but that hasn't happened yet. There's not even that much (developer) steam behind NAND on RHOD...
