[Q] Installare froyo on Samusung galaxy S - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Short answer is no. If you want Froyo you have to install JP3, but it still comes with Touchwiz, and its not a stable release.
Don't ask how, its on the forum already.

Lol, so rude

Should I root my phone?

I got the samaung galaxy s 4g a few weeks. I was using a rooted g1 with froyo 2.2 on it. My friend has the samssung vibrant and hes bricked it twice and had to send it to tmobile. Is it worth rooting my phone and flashing gingerbread on it. My galaxy s 4g is running 2.2.1 I just wanted to delete some of the preinstalled apps to clear up somw space and get some more ram? Any ideas without having to root?

I'd say its not reliable yet, most rom chefs are already went back to the JSx roms.

Rooting? Yeah for sure, its always nice to have it rooted.
Gingerbread? Wait some more, as mentioned before its not perfect yet, 2.2.1 is still more stable and better for daily use. Sammy will bring out the official ginger soon and then It wont be long before the stable roms leave the kitchen
yes you should root - no steer clear of vm1. Its a very buggy beta and the clean final is imminent in any case.
After rooting suggest you experiment with flashing any of the excellent 2.2.1 custom roms out there - then when the gingerbread roms come out you will be experienced enough to take advantage of those.
That is the best advice I can give to you
oh, and do plenty of reading in this excellent forum - there's plenty of brilliant advice - but you have to take the trouble to find and read it all

rooting galaxy s

does anyone know how to root galaxy s gingerbread ?
yes, some of us know this ...
"search" is your friend ... check out the general thread and FAQ
Wonder if it'd be feasable to ban users who blatantly didn't bother to read the thread they installed from or use the search button?
No, this forum has been built on patience, and should satay like that.

Plant it in good soil, water it daily and give it lots of love....soon it will root and grow and flourish and before you know it your harvest of fresh smartphones will be burned to preserve the market price of Galaxy S handsets.

Mine's DXJPE latest Official Stock Asian ROM...
Is this question treat OK? If I'm not mistaken, to compare a rom to others rom is against the rule right?
Im not comparing. Im asking which stable stock GingerBread 2.3.3 ROM is good so that I can use.

The rule is for roms made by developers. No nasty gossip will hurt samsung's fellings!
DXJPI latest Asian ROM for stock... Overcome 3.1.0 Kratos for custom... so it simply depends on what flavor you want...

You are using p1010 and what i know there is no gb for it
So dont do something silly amd flash ur tab by something will get you sorry for.
Referring to the diff
Gb is more fast that is all

Agree with k0sh. Gb has some things that allow a bit more flexibility, but you will need to be rooted. it is a bit quicker, but thats about it.
